Mel V's Variant Picks Of The Week For 2/3/16

First off, I want to give a shout out to Jessica and the fine staff at Montasy Comics in Queens NY, thanks for reading. Ok Now on to the Variants.
What’s up CHU, Mel V back with another great week of comics and variants. Variants do carry risk, some go up, some go down, but as long as you are buying art that you like, you can’t go wrong.
Here is what I am feeling this week!

Batman Euphora 4 Jock Variant– A re imagining of Jock’s Detective Comics #880. I remember seeing this a while back and said “T SHIRT” same still applies. T-SHIRT WORTHY, PC WORTHY, also its doing well in the after market, for the trifecta of a great legendary cover. I picked up a few of these for the PC

Contest Of Champions Vol 3 #5 Cover C Incentive- 2 of the newer Ladies of the Marvel universe on a cover at the same time..I love this cover and could be one to keep for the future, definitely pick up one

Invincible Iron Man #6 Micheal Cho– Sometimes a very simple pose on a cover can look really really good with the right color combination,a prime example is this lovely variant from Cho..he has a couple other covers out this week ,but this one is the one that stands out in my eyes

Scarlet Witch Vol 2 #3 Cover C Incentive Siya Oum– Siya Oum, she is on the verge of being a break out star, do not sleep on this cover I do believe this is a 1:25 and this book could be under ordered. I have a feeling this will heat up…QUICK

Spider-Man Vol 2 #1 Cover B Variant Adi Granov– Marvels Hip Hop take on one of the greatest Hip Hop Albums of all time Illmatic. Going to add this to the PC. I tried to sell my Hip Hop variants set a month ago. I’m glad I didnt, a full set could be sought after down the line by casual fans of comics and Hip Hop

Uncanny X-Men Vol 4 #3 Cover B Incentive Greg Land– And the winner of most bad @ss cover of the week. Magneto looks as if he is about kick some serious mutant back side. One of those covers that make you want to pick it up just to see whats going on in the story. The regular cover also looks sweet. Way to go Greg Land

A-Force Vol 2 #2 Cover B Incentive Joelle Jones– Joelle Jones (I loved her work on Lady Killer)is another talented artists that’s starting to get more and more notoriety. This A-Force cover just shows the immense talent she has

Howard The Duck Vol 5 #4 Cover C Incentive Kamome Shirahama Variant Cover– I would absolutely lying if I told you I knew what is going on here on this cover..BUT I LOVE IT ..it has such an poetic chaos feeling to it..I dubbed it The Poetic Chaos Variant lol. Really cool cover. T-SHIRT Worthy (Editor Note: Mel spends a lot of money getting custom T-Shirts made with cool comic covers. Several of these shirts have made creators swoon.)

  1. Mel I agree with you on the Illmatic/Miles cover being a favorite..as for the “set” of hip hop covers, how many do you think they’ll do? seems Marvel is churning out those and the action figures lol

  2. Mel I agree on the Miles/Illmatic cover being a favorite..as for the set of all the hip hop covers, how many do you anticipate they’ll do in the set? seems they can keep going and going like the Action Figure covers for Star Wars lol

    1. Lol I’m not sure,I heard they don’t plan to stop anytime soon…it was a rough stretch for my wallet when they were putting these things out like crazy..but they have slowed down so that’s a good thing
