Fox Options Empty Man by Cullen Bunn

I have said it before, Cullen Bunn books are great pick ups as they are good reads, but also because he gets optioned. It started with the Sixth Gun, which sadly did not make it to air. Recently it was Harrow County. Now, his book Empty Man has been optioned.
Tooting my own horn on this one as it was the pick of the week back on 6/11/14. It had a print run of 9,500 copies and sold out initially. It went back to a second printing.
Copies of Empty Man can be found for about $1 on ebay with full sets going for $10-12.
Mycomicshop.com also has copies of all the series available.
From CBR.com:

The first look deal between 20th Century Fox and BOOM! Studios has resulted in a new feature film project. Deadline has reported that Fox has optioned “The Empty Man,” a limited series originally published by BOOM! in 2014. The six-issue series was written by Cullen Bunn and featured art by Vanesa R. Del Rey.
Fox has brought on up and coming director David Prior adapt the series and helm the feature. Deadline notes that Prior has a reputation as “one of the top directors of Special Edition DVDs and Blu-rays,” and that he’s produced documentaries for directors like David Fincher, Michael Bay, Guillermo del Toro and Joel and Ethan Coen.
While there’s not yet any info on how Prior will adapt “The Empty Man” into a screenplay, the comic series itself is a supernatural thriller set in a midwestern town. It focuses on a supernatural being that may be responsible for a number of disappearances.
The film will be produced by BOOM! Studios CEO and founder Ross Richie as well as Stephen Christy, the president of development. Adam Yoelin will co-produce, as will Fox’s Mark Roybal and Ryan Jones.

  1. You know, I dig most Cullen Bunn stuff but this one never did it for me. I think I stopped after issue 2.. literally, stopped reading like halfway through issue #2. Hopefully the film is better, if it ever gets that far.
