Blind Adam's Hidden Gem

Blind Adam is a comic book dealer in the NJ/NY area, and yes he is blind. He sends us a fun list each week of spec books he is on the look out for.
Greetings to my comicsheatingup and awesomesauce family. Thank you so much for everything. T hank you for the friendship, surport, encourgment, and advice. Thank you for reading this each week. And to Anthony thank you for allowing me the privilege of playing in your awesome, amazing and
magical sandbox.
Now on to the money…

1. Heathcliff #1 Star Comics. This is not a real spec play, but with all the hype on DC comics Hanna Barbera line coming out, and with my love of kids comics, I wish this would get more love. Kids comics have been getting some serious attention though lately.
2. Spider-Man #16 1990 series. This is one of my favorite covers in this series it is cheap and has two things going for it. It is the sideways world trade center cover. It features the world trade center
in a infamous story, and is part of the X-Force Spider-man cross over feature the early appearance of Deadpool. $5-25 Deadpool and Spidey combo books have done well.
3. Batman Chronicles #19– secret origin of the giant penny. I always loved the giant penny in the batcave this issue tells the secret origin of it. Batman Chronicles #8 does the same with he giant t-rex in the batcave as well I am sure these books are in dollar bins nationwide. Hey new Batman movies and Gotham will do the cave one day. Make em two dollar books or more show some heart
4. Secret Origins #50. Expands on Flash #123 the Flash of two worlds. Post Crisis Season Two of the Flash showed Earth 2 and it is a great show. This is a cheaper way to read the first meeting between Barry and Jay $2-5
5. Battle Pope #1. Robert Kirkman is the voice of a comic book generation. Walking Dead, Outcast, he even made the Marvel Zombies. All cool things, but his first comic work gets no love. Whats up with that? As I have found issues especially #1, below $5, and that ain’t cool it is a battling pope after all.
6. Superman and Batman Adventures Worlds Finest One Shot. Adapts the first animated meeting of bats and blueboy. Plus it has Harley Quinn, and I always have this on the wall at $25 but that’s me.
7. Youngblood #1. Why is the first image comic used as lining for cat boxes??? Yes it is overprinted. Yes a two year old can craft a better plotted story. but I love Liefeld. I love image. I even ate the
candy bars back in the day so can we make this book a buck at least.
8. Sandman #22. I am loving Lucifer on fox. Best Vertigo show on the air and not even Preacher on AMC will change my mind on that. This is the first appearance of Maze the hot babe that runs Mr. Morningstar’s bar and club. But why so cheap? I saw a copy on eBay for $15 and less
9. Wonder Woman #219. Death of Max Lord. $3-5 I love max on Supergirl. Am I the only one that loves Supergirl here? I so want to do a private signing with her. Um ideas again….. I believe Max will
be the big bad of the entire series. This comic death will make it to screen.
11. Uncanny X-Men #213. With all the Psylocke love, with a Sabertooth vs Wolverine fight and with people scooping up New Mutants Annual #2 and any other Psylocke appearances why not this one for $10-20
12. Batman #608 NY Post Edition. Found this in a collection I bought. It is a reprint of the first Hush that came in the NY Post back in 2005. Hush is popular I believe Hush will make his way to Gotham and this is a easy $5-15
13. Action Comics #1 2000 reprint. The 1988 reprint of the first Superman is hot. The over-sized famous first edition is tough to find in nice shape. Love that book but how come this reprint is only $10-20?
14. Human Torch 70th Anniversary One Shot. Scott Snyder is a comic book genius. His Batman run is classic. Detective will be well served by him. But this is his either first or second writing gig in the industry. I know he did Iron Man Noir as well, $3-5
15. Captain America #241. I am excited for Daredevil Season 2. The Punisher on Netflix is coming . this is an early (if not first) Punisher appearance out of a Spider-man comic. I believe Daredevil #182-184 came after this and that cover is amazing
16. Wonder Woman #1 1986. That final trailer for Superman vs Batman reeked of awesomeness. I am starting to dig this new live action Wonder Woman. $5 and up
17. Action Comics #600. Not much of a spec play, but the cover is cool. It features Wonder Woman kissing Superman, something that was a big deal in JLA #11-12? $3-5
18. Dark Horse Presents #10. I just re-watched the movie The Mask. Loved it. One of Jim Carrey’s best roles. What is old often becomes new again. Can we have a new Mask movie or TV show based on this series? $5-10 and doesn’t this issue feature Duckman as well?
19, 20, and 21. It’s a classic Blind Adam three way. Powerman and Iron Fist #s 66,78,84. 2nd,3rd and 4th Sabertooth appearances. I want to see a Deadpool vs Sabertooth fight in the new series. Sabertooth was my favorite in the Fox Animated series. happy hunting
Once again thank you for everything I can not do this without you awesome and amazing people

  1. I’m with you on Lucifer. If I were to rank the comic tv shows I watch they would go like this.
    1. Walking Dead
    2. Lucifer
    3. Gotham
    4. IZombie
    5. Agents of Shield
    6. Jessica Jones
    7. Supergirl
    8. Legends of Tomorrow
    9. Daredevil
    10. The Strain
Don’t watch Agent Carter, Flash, and Green Arrow

    1. I am really enjoying Lucifer. It is very cheesy at times but is a fun, good watch. I was surprised after seeing the trailer and thinking it would bomb.

  2. I always find at least one or two interesting specs from your lists; and some things that are already on my personal spec list. I’ve been stunned at how many copies of those Sabretooth 2nd, 3rd, & 4th appearances are floundering around at low prices, when they used to be a hot commodity. That’s why I take them & sit on them, hoping they are again someday. And with Power Man & Iron Fist coming to Netflix, I think people will start appreciating some of the most sought-after issues of the series, making them rise again.
I did confirm that Punisher’s appearance in Captain America preceded his appearance in Daredevil. I have ways to dig a little deeper to confirm whether the Cap appearance was his first time outside Spider-man… I’ve been grabbing some of his subsequent Spider-man appearances fairly cheap. I am wondering how sparse appearances of characters will be impacted when characters become popular again. Deadpool’s appearances saw a rise in value; and mapping-out the few appearances of Legion, I am hoping those start to get attention if the series is greenlit after the pilot is screened. Being the son of Charles Xavier didn’t seem to mean much in terms of popularity and getting to appear in more books for a few decades, lol.
There are also some nuances to the introduction of The Mask in comics, which I’ve mapped-out. But I don’t know who all is reading the Comments after an article is published…
