Henchgirl Tv News Soon?

Mel hinted at things a few weeks back when he did his report from Big Apple Comic Con. He stopped by Kristen Gudsnuk’s booth. Mel said, “I predict HUGE things from her and Henchgirl stay tuned. Trust me, sworn to secrecy.” Well here is a little glimpse into the more of it.
Henchgirl #1 took the world by storm when it was first released, selling for around $15. The most recent few sales have been in the $3.40 range, looks like someone blew out their stash a little early. The book is a quirky, fun read, written and drawn by Kristen Gudsnuk. The book had a tiny print run, most likely under 2,500 copies, as it did not appear on the Diamond top 300 list (lowest for that month was in the 2,500 estimated print run range.)
Brendan Deenen is an author and former literary agent. He is also executive editor for Macmillan Entertainment, for which he shops TV and film rights for authors. Adweek ran a story on him back in 2014 entitled “Brendan Deneen on What Authors Can Do to Get Their Book Optioned for a Movie.” So when Brendan tweeted the following, I took notice.

Of course Mel, being inquisitive asked:

and the response:

Not sure in which way it will appear on TV, but it could be huge for the book. Good on all who held copies.
As they say in TV, Stay Tuned!

  1. I have definitely held on to mine, and I have multiples of each issue. Great news!!!!!! I was just thinking to myself the other day that this would be great on tv. I actually still see #1 on the shelves along with the rest of the issues may need to pick up a couple more.

  2. Yeah! I got one, but that’s only because at the time I purchased it, there were only two left on the shelf and that second one was hurt…maybe I still should have picked it up…

  3. I ordered 10 copies of issue 1 from midtown when it was released, and I received 9 out of 10 copies with bent corners, so I sent them back. That was my last purchase from them, and I was super bummed, but at least I have one for the PC. I really don’t understand how a shop that sells so many books can’t just put a “do not bend” or “fragile” stamp somewhere on the package, but that’s a different discussion. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the show.
