The Walking Dead Effect: Walking Dead 100 and 108

Negan. Sure, there will be a lot of talk about that, and we will get to it in a minute, but Ezekiel and the Kingdom is what we are going to focus on first. Sunday night’s The Walking Dead Season Finale had a lot of good imagery that fans should be excited about. For me, the one that made me very happy was the scene with the two guys in body armor, previously shown here running into Morgan.
Not only do we see people who seem to be from The Kingdom, but we also see what appears to be a large claw mark in the ground. Ezekiel’s tiger.
The Kingdom, Ezekiel, and his tiger all first appear in Walking Dead #108.
Completed listings have moved up in the $35 range (up from the $20-$30 range we noted here on 3/28.) A bigger movement on 9.8 graded copies which went from $52-60 last week to well over $100. (Two other sales have closed in the $80 range, but still a pretty big jump in one weeks time.)
Of course, I had to smile when Negan walked out, and the cliff hanger of who’s head got smashed in left me happy as well.
Walking Dead #100 has been selling well since the episode aired. Recently closed sales show that all copies of the issue are selling above what they were. The regular cover is up over $30 and 2nd Print CGC 9.8 are up over $300 with lower graded ones still doing nicely.

  1. I think the fact there’s so many covers for #100 kinda hurts it when it comes to gaining value quickly. But #108 will prob see a big jump by the time next season starts. I picked up 3 copies of #100 Friday for $19 + free shipping for the lot. Paid $26 + free shipping on #108 on Saturday. I normal don’t care for walking dead 1st appearances but after the Jesus book jumped well, I was not going to pass up on #100, #108

    1. 108 was one of the books I stock piled back in the day. Since about issue 90 I have been buying multiple copies of every issue and buy additional ones when I see sales on back issues for $1. I haven’t sold any copies yet but at some point will start letting some go. As Poyo says, even the common back issues are $10 books.

      1. Yup, as long as the show continues, can’t go wrong buying a few extra copies of the Walking Dead.

  2. I’m surprised that you enjoyed the cliffhanger!
    I LOVED Negan!
Although I didn’t mind that most of the extra 30 minute were commercials, or that we watched the gang drive around or ride a horse for 60 min, I hated the cliffhanger.
It’s manufactured suspense. It’s not satisfying. It was basically off camera. By not seeing a head get smashed, it lessens 87% (may a well be precise ;)) of the impact. It makes a brutal scene into hardcore Harry. Not cool.
And I’m not buying the bs on talking dead either. It’s not the f’ing hatch from lost. It’s a single moment that needed to be seen to completion. It’s totally leaving us blue balled. Saying it’s like the end o one story now and next season is the beginning of another is bs. We don’t get the end for six months! Knowing who died would put an end to a chapter.
    Grrrrrrr

    1. I do hope we get to see the actual head being smashed in when the show returns. If we can see all that it will at least make the cliffhanger and the long wait worth it.

  3. Was that really a claw mark? I thought it looked more like a horse shoe print, I hope it was a claw mark though.

      1. I saw it as a claw print, but a horseshoe make sense. I still think it was a claw print though.

      2. It’s got to be the Kingdom, I can’t wait to see how they do a tiger on the show.

  4. I’ve been preaching about 108 for quite a while. And, like Tony, I always grab multiple copies of Walking Dead. It’s just a no brainer now. My next focus will be issue 127 and also the first appearance of the whisperers. Issue 130 I think? High grade signed copies of those are cheap and hold great spec potential.

  5. I have been buying those issues for awhile, but am confused on the Alpha issues. I have been buying both 132 (1st appearance of alpha) and 138 (1st full appearance), but am very confused which will be the sought out one once the horde sees how creepy and cool of a character she is?
Can anyone help out on the logistics of this.

    1. Kirkman himself said 132 is her first appearance. I have been hoarding 127, 132, 138’s. Actually bought some below cover price 101-103 today.

    2. CGC states 138 is 1st full appearance of Alpha (unmasked)
132 says 1st app Alpha something masked and on CBCS says 1s appearance of Whisperers. I like 130 for 1st Whispers mention, 132 & 138 Alpha for now.

  6. Does anyone else think that the two armored guys that a Morgan and Carol are with could be Marco and Ken?
