  1. This weeks pickups…….
New Mutants #14 1st Magik thought I had this covered but only have Giant size Xmen #1 which is Illyanas 1st but New Mutants is Illayana as Magik 1st
Hulk Annual #6 1st appearance Ayesha remember the Hive shown at the end of GOTG. Well everyone thought that means maybe Adam Warlock is headed to the MCU, but it’s Ayesha that comes from the Hive and is confirmed in GOTG2. Maybe somehow she will connect to introducing Warlock in the MCU in the future. I found it for $2
Green Lantern #76 1st appearance Green Arrow . Not a fan of the Arrow show but a fan of 1st appearances. Been pricing this book out for awhile now finally found a pretty decent copy in the price range I wanted to pay.
Walking dead #100 x3 #108 1st Negan 1st Ezekiel bought this a couple days before the finale happy I did.
Guardians otg #1 1990 1st appearance Laserface another new confirmed character in GOTG2.
    Harley Quinn #26 1st Redtool
Superman unchained 1-3 1st cameo #1 1st full #3 Wraith. Looks to be a promising Superman Villain.
    Marvel age #1
St George #2 1st Terror from Mercs for Money
New gods #2 high grade 1st Darkseid cover!! Real happy to have this and Captain marvel #26 (Thanos 1st cover) in high grades.
Marvel age #57 1st black suit Captain America
Crisis on infinite earths #4 1st female doctor light.
    Marvel premiere #35 1st 3D man
Evil Ernie Revenge #3 1st full Purgatori? Some Say Evil Ernie Revenge #1 is a 1st cameo so this would be the first full. Found for $1 NM
    52 #17 1st Trajectory + Lobo Origin

    1. Harley Quinn #26 is actually the first Harley comic I have ever bought/read. Red Tool was a hilarious parody. I hope he sticks around. All those tools attached to his costume? Is that a dig at Liefeld’s pouches? probably.
      Great stuff.

  2. Picking up:
Rachel Rising 41 (second to last issue, low print run, Terry Moore is coming to a con near me later this year)
    Giant Days 13
    Swamp Thing 4
Prophet Earth War 3 (Brandon Graham)
Bunker 16 (I’m hoping this goes somewhere soon since I chose to continue this over Black Science. Oni is local to me so I like supporting them and I still get my Remender fix by reading Low. I’m hoping I did not make a mistake.)
    Empress (I’ll check it out)
The one I should have pulled the trigger on earlier:
As I said last week, I had a book on my radar that I was going to buy if I won my work NCAA bracket pool. Well, I won the pool, but by the time I had money in hand, someone else bought the book. The book was a CGC 9.6 DC Super-Stars 11, the first solo Zatanna. It is hard to find in higher grades due to the black cover. It was on a website for $80, which is the current going rate and the reason I did not pull the trigger earlier. A few days later, the same book (I think the same copy) showed up on ebay for $437.49 discounted to $328.12. So, I ended up buying a raw, NM copy elsewhere and saved a little money.
Other things coming in the mail:
I saw somewhere that HamiltonBook.com had huge discounts (65-70% off) on DC Showcase and Archive Edition trades. So I was able to pick up the Roots of the Swamp Thing hc ($11.95) and Showcase House of Mystery 1 ($5.95!). Worth a look if you are wanting reading copies in trade format.

    1. So sad about Moore ending Rachel Rising. One of my favorite books and I had my #1 signed and graded. Also had a bunch of the Free Halloween Rachel Risings signed by Moore and sold the hell out of them. Nice pick ups on the house of mystery and Swamp Thing hard covers. Jealous of those prices.

      1. It was just announced that Terry Moore is coming to the Rose City Comic Con. Time to get my complete SIP book signed. I have a SIP 1 first print that I picked up for $1 but someone had put a sticker on it and damaged the cover when they pulled it off. 🙁

  3. pickups this week
    1. Black Panther 1 – hasn’t been a solo black panther book in a while. this’ll be big with his movie debut coming soon
    2. Deadpool 9
    3. Invincible Iron Man 8 – hate the new art on this book. hate hate hate
    4. the fix 1 – love nick spencer whole heartedly
    5. walking dead 153 – can I rant on the season finale for a second? I don’t think im spoiling anything here, but I guess be warned if you haven’t seen the last episode and aren’t at least generally aware of whats supposed to happen. first of all, I think the writers did a terrible job with negan’s first monologue. I had never heard of the actor playing him, Jeffrey dean morgan, but I actually thought he did a great job. but I think they totally missed the ball here. they went for a boring, evil bad guy here, with a couple witty lines. as opposed to the outrageous, hilarious, psychopath from the comic. I understand they were limited in the tv show with all the swear words. but still. negan’s first appearance in the comic is so memorable because hes just so unique. confident. full of jokes. but also psychotically evil. he seems to not only survive in this world, but actually enjoys the new way of doing things. it explains why he was able to command such a loyal following. but in the show, he just seems like the head gang member of a group of bad guys. yes he smiles a lot, and uses some sarcasm. but still. he just seems like hes trying to intimdate and scare people. as opposed to truly enjoying his own existence. I think the show missed an opportunity to give us a truly unique and interesting character
also, the cliffhanger ending was the worst. have some balls. end the season showing the death of a character. I don’t care who it is. itll still be shocking and leave fans wanting more. game of thrones does it right. boardwalk empire did it right. walking dead is a great show with loyal fans. you don’t need a complete cliffhanger like that to get them coming back next season. I think the impact of the death will be way less intense with a long break like this. its so impactful in the comic because it is so shocking and immediate. I feel like that emotion will be gone when the show starts back in the fall. it seems like a cheap move that a crappy tv show would do to try and keep fans. but its unccessary here.
sorry that’s my rant. none of my other friends read the comic book, so I needed an outlet to vent my frustrations.

    1. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was the Comedian in Watchmen and the dad on Supernatural. Haven’t seen it yet but also heard he was Pa Kent on Batman Vs Superman

    2. Venting and Fanta are always welcome. I loved Negan as soon as he walked out of the camper. The more I think about it the more I wish they did show the head being bashed in so people would sit for 6 months asking if it was real

  4. Picked up Spider Woman Stacey Lee Variant and Black Panther Hip Hop cover ..And I splurged on Deadpool Hip hop 1:100 over the weekend …Full Set of hip hop covers ..I love it

  5. Hello, long time lurker here (I’ve posted a handful of times. I’m a big fan of the site). I had a question for the hive mind. So, I was in the LCS a couple of days ago to get something else and I saw they still had a copy of Harley Quinn 26. I remembered the discussion about it on this site, so I said, “what the heck” and bought it. When I got home, I checked it on eBay, and imagine my surprise when I saw that I had actually bought (at cover price) the 1:25 variant, which is going for a decent chunk of change. My question is, do you think this Red Tool thing has legs and I should hold it or should I sell now while it’s hot? Thanks for any opinions!

    1. That’s always the eternal question. Red Tool will be sticking around until at least issue 27. Who knows after that what they plan for him. If you got it cheap, personally, I would take the money and run. Trying to figure out when the exact best time to sell is like trying to scientifically figure out what the powerball numbers are. I like to move in and move out of books quickly and reinvest the profit into something I want long term.
Also, we love lurkers, also love when the lurkers come out and say hi. Welcome. We are glad you are here.

      1. I think a sweet idea for a weekly article on this site could be about whether you should sell or hold onto a particular book. I think we could get some interesting debates going on lol

    2. We ran something like that called Buy Sell Hold….which reminds me we have not done it in a while

  6. I ended up getting every Black Panther cover and variants at cover price or less. Except the Alex Ross variant, neither store had it. 🙁

      1. Yeah.. one shop had the Olivier Coipel cover for like $39.99.. glad I was able to nab at the other shop at cover. Midtown even has this one listed at $25.95…

  7. 6 books for me this week.
    My 2 highlights are
Three Stooges #1. I was raised on those guys so I’m hoping the book is solid
The Fix #1. Wow. Wow. Wow. I loved this book. Such an excellent issue. Pacing was perfect, the writing was fabulous and the art great. Really a good number 1 and I whole heartedly recommend it.

  8. Also picked up today:
    Harley Quinn 25 & 26
    Deadpool 8 & 9
    Warrior 1 (1982 magazine): Marvelman & V for Vendetta
Marvel Graphic Novel 4: New Mutants

    1. Nice pick ups… graphic Novel 4 is a solid investment. Warrior #1 I don’t have, not for lack of trying it’s rare that one comes up for sell that I ever see.

      1. Never expected to find a Warrior 1 in a back issue bin. Just happened to be digging in a magazine area. Whole lot of Warriors, but I just picked up #1.

  9. Between two LCS they had 1 copy of the Spider-Women Alpha Campbell variant. IT’s a cover price variant, but it seems scarce in the wild. Looking to pick up a full set and hopefully the market has heated on these by then. Looking forward to selling off my first set of connecting covers!

    1. One shop I went to had a few of the connecting cover’s(above cover), the other shop I went to had a nice stack of them at cover and at what seemed to be a 1:1 ratio.

  10. This week was awesome for me a buddy of mine went to image expo and emerald city comic con he scooped up;
Grizzly shark 1 image expo had it SS
    The fix 1 image expo
    Black road 1 image expo
MMPR Emerald city comic con variant SSx2
And a lying cat plush signed by Fiona staples
Keeping my fingers crossed that cgc gives me a 9.8 or better
