Mel V.'s Variant Picks of the Week for Delivery 4/13/16

What’s up CHU, Mel V back with another great week of comics and variants. Variants do carry risk, some go up, some go down, but as long as you are buying art that you like, you can’t go wrong.
It looks like variants are starting to pick back up this week.. Also Alex Ross regular cover makes the list in this weeks edition ..here we go
All-New All-Different Avengers #8 Cover A Regular Alex Ross Cover (Standoff Tie-In)
All-New All-Different Avengers #8 Cover A Regular Alex Ross Cover (Standoff Tie-In)- Even though this is a regular cover, I had to add this to the list. This cover is amazing and if this was a variant I would not hesitate to add this to my personal collection. Mr Alex Ross did an amazing job here.. a must buy without a doubt.
Captain America 75th Anniversary Magazine #1 John BryneCaptain America 75th Anniversary Magazine #1 Jack Kirby
Captain America 75th Anniversary Magazine #1– This comes in 3 different variants by 3 different legends John Bryne, Jack Kirby, Alex Ross. Personally i’m no fan of magazine sized books, but the Alex Ross version has really caught my eye
Gwenpool #1 Cover G Incentive Francisco Herrera Variant Cover Gwenpool #1 Cover H Incentive Stacey Lee Variant Cover
Gwenpool #1 Cover G Incentive Francisco Herrera Variant Cover and Gwenpool #1 Cover H Incentive Stacey Lee Variant Cover – I actually like the design of Gwenpool and she has some pretty cool variants coming out this week. Investment wise though, not sure about this. I personally believe there will be a ton of these books ordered and they will flood the bay. Wait out the rush, pick these up as they cool off on eBay if you cant find these in stores. If you can find them cheap, turn and burn.
Moon Knight Vol 8 #1 Cover D Incentive Eric Powell Variant Cover
Moon Knight Vol 8 #1 Cover D Incentive Marco Rudy Variant Cover– This is my cover of the week, a very dark and insane looking cover. That describes Moon Knight perfectly. I think Moon Knight is on the verge of a breakout be on the look out for this variant on Wednesday
Rocket Raccoon And Groot #4 Cover C Incentive Classic Variant Cover
Rocket Raccoon And Groot #4 Cover C Incentive Classic Variant Cover– Rob Leifield with good Raccoon Feet. I think its a decent looking cover, but the couple of people I spoke with said Raccoon looks insane. The market will tell the tale of this variant.
MOCKBIRD2016002_NENVar
Mockingbird #2 Nen Chang 1:25 Incentive variant – pretty awesome looking cover. Thanks to my comic partners in crime Midtown Martin and Knowledgeable Danny for putting me on to this one. Already pretty sought after on the aftermarket..keep an eye out on this as well

  1. If any new Moon Knight comic becomes valuable, it is probably a variant. 2014 Sienkiewicz variant is averaging over $300 each in ebay sales. For decades, Moon Knight has always been a second rate character and never among the top sellers for Marvel.

    1. And that is a sad thing because Marvel does not know how to handle him. They have taken him in so many different directions. I did like the Warren Ellis led book. It was unique. But they need to stop looking at him as Marvel’s Batman and develop the character as something truly unique.

  2. Moon Knight Variant going for $300 isn’t because people like Moon Knight, it’s because of scarcity very few stores would ever order enough copies to get that Variant in 2014.

  3. I agree with you on Gwenpool Mel. I almost bought the Stacy Lee just to have it decided against it, then almost bought 15 copies of the Paris expo Variant to flip decided against it because Gwenpools holiday JSC cover from midtown I can still find at cover price. I think Gwenpools past appearances will get a bigger pop in sales from the new series starting, imagine the print run on this is super high and to be honest I like the standard cover the best and will buy that to go with all the Gwenpool variants from the past year I have.

  4. Same at all my spots..Tons of Stacey Lee Gwenpools …Moon Knight was a bit more than I expected ..Mocking Bird was scarce at best
