I noticed that the Mahfood variant for sun bakery is priced lower than the standard cover, at least on Midtown. Anyone know why that is?
Sounds like a deal. I think it’s. 1:10 from what I read.
Actually the Mahfood cover is sold out at Midtown.
None of my local shops got Sun Bakery. 🙁

Superman American Alien #1 x2 no #2’s around, and I received a package in the mail with my The Boys Herogasm set of #1- #6 each issue signed and numbered(23 of 299) by Garth Ennis with COA’s for each issue. Let you guys know what I pick up tomorrow.
Been searching for a lot of pch books lately. But I’ve been picking up Greg Horn covers this past week just because. His Secret Invasion stuff was awesome
Yes it was. How ever I had a couple of blanks sketched by him and his sketches were rushed. He did a skrull and an Elektra Skrull for me.
You have to show me that Elektra skrull one. Sucks he rushed em though. I just picked up the Ms Marvel skrull cover where she has her finger to her mouth. It’s unbelievable. So many good artists out there with not as much credit as the latest thing.
I sold it a while ago. Trust me. It’s nothing likes his digitally enhanced work.

On a separate note, Menace 5 is on its way to get pressed. If it grades higher than a 4.0, which I think is possible, it will be the highest grades cgc ss on the census. I’m salivating.
I was thinking of sending in my Adventures Into Terror 4 I sent you the pic of. I want a Stan sig on it. I can send that in and they’ll crack it for the signature right? It would grade the same? Been building my horror collection nicely lately.

Sold off 2 of my 3 copies of Amazing Spider-Man 129 I picked up 6years ago kept the nicest one so was able to target some higher books, this weeks pick ups…….
Batman Almost Got Im 1st Harley Quinn this is a Golden Children’s book not a comic this book was mentioned in a suicide squad article long ago here at CHU and as far as I can research and many can research on shelves a few weeks before Batman Adventures #12. With multiple recorded sales recently from $350-$250 this book is getting hot. Yes it is a book not a comic but finding this unopened in good shape with the tape and hologram is very hard and rare. Being a book and not a comic is actual making it more collectible not hurting it as not only comic enthusiasts are hunting for these, so are rare book collectors. I found a nice unopened copy with hologram cost me an arm but not a leg, will go nice with all the other Harley keys.
Flash #138 Vol2 1st Black Flash. One hell of a time finding one of these strangely. From a past Blind Adams list. For three weeks couldn’t find a copy on eBay only one copy on Amazon at $15 finally one popped up on eBay paid under $10
Walking Dead #100 cover A 1st Negan already have one but auction went way cheap $13.50 + shipping now I have another.
JLA #7 1st Watchtower Off of Anthony’s pick pays to listen to Anthony’s picks.
Avengers #83 1st Valkyrie Character looks to be cast for Thor 3
Morlocks #1 1st Angeldust
Aquaman #37 1st Scavenger
Batman Sword of Azrael #1 picked up 5 extra copies at a buck a piece meanwhile cgc 9.8s are selling $135+ on eBay.
Deadly hands of Kung fu #32 1st Daughters of the Dragon. That wraps up all needed Ironfist and Luke Cage keys for me.
Marvel Feature #1 1st Defenders Cgc high grade got a smoking deal on this. 1st appearance Defenders coming Defenders tv show won’t be comprised of the original Defenders line up but hey it’s 1st Defenders.
Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles adventures #1 1st print this is Rocksteady, Bebop, and Krangs 1st appearance in comics a huge TMNT key in my opinion. Make sure to get the 1st print.
Captain Marvel #16 2004 1st Phyla-Vell With GOTG 3 already confirmed these could be an addition to the team for the third movie found one for a few bucks.
Showcase #30 1st SA titled Aquaman this books price is starting to creep up out of my reach had to get it now.
Ironman #55 1st Thanos 1st Drax this one broke the bank. Lost the auction this was in spent my money elsewhere later that day got a second chance offer sent to me even though my money was spent couldn’t pass up the great price that was offered to me. Finally all GOTG keys done!!!! including 1st Groot.

Went to my LCS for a copy of Gwenpool #1 they were sold out they only ordered 25 lol So searched the back issue bins in frustration and found 11x Sheriff of Babylon #1 3x Justice League #40 1st Grail, 2x Faith #1′ cgc variant all sitting on the floor in back issue boxes at cover price.
Also added a vintage Secret Wars Cosmic Black Spider-Man action figure unopened to my collection (my 1st Marvel toy as a kid what got me into comic books)

Bebob and Rocksteady do not appear in issue #1. The first appearance is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #2.
They appear in human form in issue #1 being their 1st appearance they become mutated in issue #2 which I guess would be called the first mutated appearance for them.

Geez I probably should mention the grade lol…its a 9.2
its about $10 cheaper than the cheapest available of that grade on ebay so I’d say, if you want this issue, this is likely the best price you will get.
Tony, are you a US buyer of a Canadian book or a Canadian Buyer of a Canadian book. If you are a US buyer and that price is in Canadian dollars it might make it cheaper with the exchange rate.

These poyo issues are always very popular. I have Warrior Chicken Poyo SDCC Variant signed by Rob and John its more than doubled in value since I got it. I can’t really sell it though, because I didn’t get the sigs witnessed. And I’m hearing that Thor has a Viking Hulk….not sure if thats a first or not……

Recent pickups:
Broken Frontier Anthology – Robbi Rodriguez did a signing at my lcs with Tyler Chin-Tanner, Mike Lawrence, and Justin Zimmerman. Got signatures and some pretty sweet sketches in the book.
Divinity II was flying off shelves at two shops. Regular cover was getting gobbled up. Jelena Kevic-Djurdjevic is just an awesome artist. I was lucky enough to nab both the Hairsine and Jimenenz variants at cover as well with 3 regular covers (some were scuffed up). Shops didn’t get any others.
4 Kids Enter A Bank – One shop got none. Another only had two available (only had 10 total, tried to order more, got denied). Probably Black Mask playing Marvel type games (you didn’t hear that from me though, seems these get hyped up, hard to find and then become easily available again… remember the Black Mask LCD Box set?) Either way, several people in the store read their copy quickly and said it was an awesome read.
I also got the Black Eyed Kids Gaydos variant at cover.
It was a pretty good day. I loaded up on Divinity II. I love this title and I expect big things again, I’m sure this round was a bigger print run but the last series went to 5 printings for #1 so I’m sure this one will still go to 2nd and 3rd prints itself.
Oh and the Mattina variant for Captain America Road to War was non-existent at one shop, only around 6 at another. I was able to snag 2 copies. Such a sweet cover.
My usual “never fail” LCS didn’t order 25 copies of Harley which is surprising, but they still had a Lois & Clark #1 1:25 variant sitting on the shelf for $10 so I grabbed it with a shit eating grin.
Picked up 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank #1, it’s actually not supposed to be out until next week but some shops got theirs early

Disney Princess #2. I got this for my 3 year old. I’ll be dropping it soon. I’m not a fan of the format. It’s almost like a bunch of Sunday newspaper comics sized strips. No coherent story and it was lost on my daughter.
James Bond #6: This has been a solid series.
4 Kids walk into a bank #1: Hopefully my shop got a copy in. Appears some shops did and some will get them next week.
I was at my LCS when they opened (biggest shop in my area), and I grabbed the last Divinity II #1, and I saw no variants. I also found a Haunted Mansion #1 action figure variant. They aren’t getting 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank #1 until next week.
Best pickup this week and probably my happiest collecting moment- purchasing Batman #4 from 1940. Bad shape, but a surprising find nonetheless!

Is it common practice for a comic book store to not sell any variants on Wednesday. Only one store is in my area unless I take a plane or boat but My LCS takes all their variants on Wednesday has some one price them with eBay as their guide and doesn’t put them out for sale until Thursday none at cover prices. I thought the whole point of variants was an incentive to get people in stores buying books, My LCS seems to think variants are their way to recoup lost $ from comics that don’t move. They have taken away any fun of hunting for variants and really any reason for me to visit the store and spend any money unless it’s a non variant back issue that’s become hot. So much for supporting a local biz I’ll stick to the Internet prices are cheaper and the selection is better.
Seriously the guy at the comic book store told me a customer I couldn’t buy anything non regular cover on Wednesday new comic book day because he’s not done putting scalped prices on the variants yet.
And I don’t blame you. I think there should be some mark up allowed but gouging sucks. Especially if you are the only game in town. And if they don’t sell at eBay prices then what?
