Henchgirl ashcan/preview Update

Being a fan of the book Henchgirl, and because of the phenomenal success it has had recently on the secondary market, I looked up the shop, Heroes Your Mom Threw Out and have them a buzz. Of course I want a copy of this book for myself.

Turns out, there were 150 copies of the book printed. Half of which sold through Heroes Your Mom Threw Out in Elmira New York. The other half Kristen Gudsnuk sold at conventions. for comparison, we know the regular 1st print sold “well less than 2,500 copies” and the elusive self published version had a print run of under or about 700 copies. That would make this the book to have if the tv show goes through.  That makes this lone This Henchgirl #1 Preview Copy very desirable.
Previous post follows.
So I received an email asking the question, What is this book? It is a copy of Henchgirl #1 Signed by Kristen Gudsnuk with a Heroes Your Mom Threw Away logo on the lower right. I hadn’t seen it before, but assumed it may be a second printing store variant. I was wrong.
We Have mentioned before the low print run, self-published, version of Henchgirl #1 that predated the issue out from Scout Comics with a completely different cover. Print Run is estimated at below 600 (if I remember correctly.)
So this was one I hadn’t seen before. I shot it over to Mel who checked with Kristen, herself, and she explained that it was essentially an Ashcan like edition that was put out before Scout had published the first issue. This Henchgirl #1 Preview Copy was used at conventions to help promote the series.

There is now one example up of the Henchgirl #1 Preview Copy on eBay for grabs. It is signed and personalized, but if you like rare comics, and doubly so if your name is Gary, this rare Preview Copy is worth a look.

  1. That’s my Hometown Comic Shop!! I’m from Elmira, but now live in Charlotte. Here they have “Heroes Aren’t Hard To Find”, but when I talk about “Heroes”, people get confused, not realizing I’m talking about “Heroes Your Mom Threw Out” back up North! I’ve actually got some of their store variants they’ve done with other regional creators up there. Maybe I can still snag this one. 🙂
