Had a good week selling on EBay so sorry about the long list of this weeks pickups……..
Justice League #75 1st Black Canary. Golden age Canary isn’t the same as her daughter the Silver Age Canary. Silver age one is a metahuman with her canary cry. Really like the Black and White Canary characters. Already on a handful of tv shows, Black Canary is also confirmed as a member of the Justice League in the coming movies. This is a big pick up for me as I bought this sight unseen from an online bookstore for $65. I contacted the seller and asked them about its condition no picture no condition listed they said it’s absolutely flawless. So I may of just got the best Justice League #75 from 1969 out there in the whole world CGC has one 9.6 no 9.8 of this book recorded only a dozen 9.0s out there with an asking price of $900. Would imagine this will grade above a 9.0 if not a 9.6/9.8.
New Gods #7 1st Steppenwolf. This I bought for $7 next day it was going for 5-10x that. Lucked out this was on my buy list as Darksied’s origin, that’s why I bought it. Next day Steppenwolf was confirmed in Justice League. Allthough Steppenwolf is confirmed I still believe the deleted scene from Batman v Superman is Yuga Khan and not Steppenwolf. Yuga is the destroyer of planets can become giant like Galactus. In the deleted scene people only talk about the mother boxes and fail to mention it looks like a solar system is floating around his head.
Wonder Woman #90 1st Artemis of Bana books moving we’ll probably has something to do with the coming Wonder Woman movie. Paid $12
Powerman #19 1st appearance Cottonmouth.
Curse #1 optioned for movie or series. love CHU and all the amazing info to be found here.
Invincible #1 this book is getting up there in price. Need it now before it gets out of reach. Found a VF/NM for a $100 it’s almost double that on eBay.
Shazam #28 1st SA Black Adam. This book seems to be gaining value everyday found a 7.0 for $70 wish I would picked this up when it was a $20 book.
Jungle Action #6 1st Killmonger. Working the Black Panther villain keys this week as well.
Batman #635 1st Jason Todd as Red hood. Found a NM for $55
New Xmen #31 1st Kimura. X23 is way hot right now this is her Sabretooth basically.
Deadline Magazine #1 UK 1988 1st appearance Tank Girl. This is sooooooooooooo hard to find I’ve only seen 3 come up for sale in the last 18months. Paid $25 + $23 shipping lol and still a steal of a deal. I wold of paid twice that.
Joker #1 Hardcover Azzarello 1st Appearance Johnny Frost $10 free shipping.
Crisis on infinitive Earths 1-12 full run. This has a lot of heat as late for different reasons. I bought it for the 1st appearance of Anti-Monitor. Issue #5
TMNT Raphael #1 1st appearance Casey Jones. Was worth staying up til 3am to win this in auction for $20. It’s not like Casey Jones is going to be in upcoming movie or anything 🙂
Action Comics Annual #2 1st Cleric. This is the character Willam Dafoe is rumored to be playing. He will be the one to revive Superman.
Superman #123 Glow in the dark cover. Flaming Superman has nothing on Electric Superman.
Superboy #0 and #9 1st cameo and full appearance Kingshark.
Beavis and Butthead #1 pick off of Blind Adams list.
Amazing Spider-Man #344 1st Cletus Cassidy
Black Panther #1, #2 x2. 1st Whitewolf Black Panthers brother. I assume that’s who Creed will play out of my 3 Black Panther villain pick ups this week. I also don’t think he will be the only antagonist in the film I should say films there’s already talks of 3 Black Panther movies.
Avengers #62 1st Man Ape. Man Ape has a really cool story for a Black Panther villain.
Giant Size Chillers #1 1st Lillith $4.00
Henchgirl #1 signed. Found this for $34 was stoked.
Walking Dead #132 1st Alpha and 1st baby Herschel I think??
Action Comics #340 1st appearance Parasite Rumored to be the villain of the Superman Man of Steel 2 script Zack Snyder just turned in.
J2 1-12 whole run. Really only got this for Wolverines and Elektras Childs 1st appearance Wild thing. Wolverines other daughter is hot I picked up this whole run for .50 an issue. There’s some other cool characters with 1st appearances in this run as well.
Legends of the DC Universe #2 1st Modern Suicide Squad??? Thanks to TS and his tip.
Demonic #1 Pilot x3. Again I love CHU and all the info it contains.

Willem Dafoe is playing Cleric in Justice League. He brings Superman back to life.
The opening scene of Justice League takes place in a apocalyptic future. Batman doesn’t return and Barry and the resistance assume he is dead. The resistance members are Flash, Aquaman, Mera, Black Canary, Cyborg and Wonder Woman. Eventually the resistance get attacked and killed by Darkseid’s forces and Barry travels back in time to give Bruce a warning about the future.
Atlanteans and Amazons hate each other due to a huge war that took place ages ago.
Barry and Victor went to the same high school.
Amanda Waller has a small role in Justice League.
Scott Snyder recently submitted a script for the Man of Steel sequel. The early script has Parasite and General Sam Lane as main antagonist and Manchester Black having a cameo.
Cyborg’s movie is going to be replaced by Titans and will be moved to October, 2020. The Man of Steel sequel is expected to take its release date.
A Crime Syndicate movie has been discussed which would lead to them being the villains for Justice League 3.
Warner Bros wants another Batman trilogy with Ben Affleck directing.
There are no plans to release a Justice League Dark movie anytime soon.

I bought a really nice Shazam #28 from an antique store a few weeks ago for $10. It was NM- to NM. I sold it for $110 in 10 minutes, before I had checked out at the store.
Since the Rock has been wearing the Black Adam shirt around recently this book has became scorching think some Wrestling fans are picking these up now as well as the normal comic collectors. There’s a lot of wrestling fans in the world that love the Rock, this books availability won’t meet the demand when Shazam movie comes out.
Oh I regretted selling it as soon as it sold. Didn’t expect it to move so fast. Was split between slabbing it and selling it.

Went to a small local con last weekend, a dealervwas selling variants for $3.00 a pop…found a Spiderverse #1 Spider Gwen(1:25), a nice Mrs Deadpool & Howling Commandos #1 Queen album cover variant, and my favorite Carnage #6 Classic Tomb of Dracula homage variant. Plus two copies of Lois & Clark #1 regular cover at cover price, and a Lady Killer #1 2nd print signed by Joelle Jones.
But my best find was in a dollar box, a NM ALF #48 – the infamous seal rape cover!

An inflatable seal. It is one of the funniest not purposefully inappropriate covers ever.
It’s supposed to represent thevcomics code seal, but the positioning of the seal & Alf is waaayy inappropriate. I’ve read the print run on Alf at that point was around 12000, and it was pulled from some stores. Add in the fact it was a “kids book” from a cancelled tv show that wasn’t considered collectible, there are very few decent copies. Not a super expensive book ($25.00 or so), but hard to find.
That and the Archie cover with him talking about “Beating off several guys” are two of my all time favorite not purposefully inappropriate covers.

Nice list! Missed out on some of them, but did pick up twelve copies of Shazam #28 in various grades a few of years ago over a six month period. Paid $2 to $27 with grades ranging from Good – to Near Mint. That’s the best overall spec’n I have done since getting back into it a few years ago. I did sell two of them recently, both in the VG range to cover the costs of the lot. Both those sales came very close to paying for the twelve. Going to wait until the movie or a movie with him in it hits before I sell the rest. Will keep one that graded CBCS 9.2 and one of the two lowest grades as a reader. I know this will make me sound like a baby because I did pick up a bunch, but a couple of weeks before the Rock confirmed he would be playing the Black Adam I passed on a CGC 9.8 for $189… Didn’t want to put too much more money into the book that I already had bunch of. Of course it was long gone when I checked back. I know, cry me a river. By the way a graded 7.0 at $70 will look like a steal in another year or two!
Outside of that I have been reading rumors that Harley Quinn will be given her own movie. No idea if that has any truth behind it but it does make sense seeing how much press and print the character is getting these days. I have a BA #12 but just in case I just picked up one of the Batman Adventures coloring books from 1993. A bit of a novelty but if Harley keeps up the pace of her popularity before any film is released just imagine where the prices of her early appearances will be a couple of years from now! Nice copies of the coloring book can still be found for $30 and under but seem to be drying up.
I do agree with you on Yuga Khan. If that image was Khan and he becomes a major player in the films expect New Gods #17 from 1990 to become a very sought after book! Don’t know if the print run is small but that one does not come up very often online.
That New Gods #17 1st Yuga Khan took me 6weeks to find a copy come up for sell that wasn’t part of a complete run.
Yeah, they are few and far between right now. I was able to get a couple when the clip of Yuga (maybe) was first leaked. Wanted to get a few more, but couldn’t find anymore online or locally. Just seems to be scarce at the moment. If it does turn out to be Yuga I am sure quite a few will make their way to Ebay.
Also, has anyone heard this? Not sure what to make of it. Nintendo is apparently getting out of the Baseball biz and thinking of making movies. If Nintendo decides to produce and distribute large budget movies do you think they will make Nintendo movies or regular Hollywood type movies? If this is true and they decided to make Nintendo films those Valiant Mario and Zelda comics from the early 90’s could pick up steam. Not sure what to make of that, but a big budget Zelda flick could be really cool!
I’m surprised there’s not a trilogy of Zelda movies made yet. Metroid, Contra, Castlevania would be amazing movies. I did hear news of a Tetris movie today actually. Don’t know how that’s going to work out. Also there is a solo Harley movie coming. Supposedly will be mostly women of DC. Best guesses to join Harley in a movie Cat Woman, Poison Ivy, Batgirl, Black Canary, Birds of Prey seem to be the front runners.
If that’s the case with the movie news Harley books will continue to climb big time! Hard to believe that if someone doesn’t have a BA #12 yet they can still get it and have it go up in the next year or to where today’s prices seem like a bargain.I would think they might want to include Vixen as well since DC has been giving her more of a spotlight.

Light week…Old Man Logan and some back issues of Outcast. My shop didn’t get any of the Henchgirl bumper issues, but they ordered one for me today.
It’s funny because there is a comic book warehouse close to where I live. It’s basically like back stock for the guys comic business. I think he does flea markets and stuff. Anyways, one time I was in there and bought a few books to fill my collection and as I was checking out he asked if I had gotten my free coloring book yet. He had seen me a few times so he knew I was a regular. He was giving these to every customer but reminded me in case I missed it. So he gives me a damn near mint copy of the Batman Adventures coloring book from ’93. This was around 2 years ago or so. I leafed through it and saw that there was a Harley page, checked the date on the book, and saw it was published pretty close to BA #12. So I had this inkling maybe this might be her 1st App. Almost like a cameo before the full on appearance. Everyone thought it was a dumb idea because BA #12 is the general consensus. Low and behold 2 years later this book has been brought into the discussion. Lucky for me he gave me a copy of that coloring book every time I went. Last time I went he had run out. He was basically giving away a coloring book he had since 1993 because he had nothing to do with it.
And that’s the story of how I got my copies of the Batman Animated Series Coloring Book. Sorry for the long winded blurb.

Luckily I was smart enough to have a couple graded just for fun. I thought it would be a cool little thing to have a graded coloring book. Especially since I really liked the cartoon growing up. The origin story for Clayface messed me up for a long time lol. So even if they don’t pick up in value it’s nice to have a small piece of that time of my childhood back. 🙂 Nostalgia vs. capitalism!
True! The best free book I have that I can remember was first (or first full Hellboy) from Sand Diego Comic Con that they gave out that year.

It’s definitely one of the best free books i’ve gotten. You know how it goes, usually the “free” book you get is a random thing from a dollar bin so the dealer can get rid of them. Granted this was also the case with this book. Looks like I won’t be scoffing at free books from now on lol.
I never give away stuff. I was giving away free copies of DMZ DC Nation variant with purchases years ago as I had a stack. When DMZ got optioned guess what went up in value. Lesson learned.

Ive been hearing alot of places have there own variant for Batman 1. anyway we can get an article on this on which artist is doing what and which one is the best to get?
To be honest with you if you’re searching for variants go with the one that you like the best for the artist that you like the best. Standard covers are usually the best way to go. But I like getting sketches so the blank cover the something I’m very interested in.
But yes there are tons of store exclusive of covers for this

Saw the Who last night. Took the day off work today to recover. Nice day outside. Bought a bottle of Plantation Stiggins’ Fancy Pineapple Dark Rum to sip while reading comics. I’ve been waiting a year for it to become available for purchase in my state. Any fan of Charles Dickens or amazing rum or pineapples should check it out.
I have to try that. Pineapple rum sounds wonderful.

Such sad news came out. Artist Darwyn Cooke died on Saturday from lung cancer. Such a great artist. I loved the variant run he did for DC on there #37 (new 52). Specially the Superman/ Wonder Woman #14. Sucks to see a great artist go out that way.
Yeah I need to post the picture he did for Larime Taylor’s charity auction. It was awesome.
