      1. There are a bunch of Batman #1 store exclusive variants out there though. I just preordered a B/W and color Michael Turner set from the Aspen store and a Dell’otto set from Bulletproof.

      2. Has Bulletproof done some exclusive deals with Dell’otto? Seems his other works have ceased and Bulletproof has been pumping out his artwork for their own variants.. not that I’m complaining but his artwork is just awesome.

      2. Good call. I looked at every Cover B for the Rebirth issues and there were definitely none that didn’t have a pink smudge or something on it. So the key was finding the ones with the LEAST amount of pink rubbed off on it. Even that was hard. I was lucky enough to find 3 issues of Batman Rebirth #1 Cover B with the smallest faintest pink on them. I wonder if anyone is going to be able to find full white copies. It seems because of how they ship, every single copy will have something on them.

      3. I noticed some dings as well. Fortunately not all of them had dings so I sorted through the clean covers and then narrowed down the pink smudges from there. It was definitely a process that my lcs has seen me do before on my hunt for perfect copies. 🙂

  2. Picking up the Deadpool incentive variants if they’re cheap enough and Moon Knight variant if the shop gets one in.
    My pickup of the week was a dollar bin score of Rust #1 special edition with the embossed cover, numbered on the back #0004. Probably the lowest numbered copy out there

  3. I am going to try to have a small week. I’m trying to save money for Awesome Con this weekend. Last weekend I picked up TWD #98, #99, #100 and #108 all for $21, I could not believe that I found them for that cheap. I was thinking about finally getting some comics graded, but I don’t know who to go with CGC or CBCS. Which one holds more value and which one do you guys use?

      1. It’s a great show if you’re only going for the onsite grading, which is why I go every year

      1. Pretty much only true for very high dollar books at this point. CBCS is just about even with CGC. Could always change going forward but in my experience they are interchangeable.

    3. I use CBCS exclusively since I had some bad experiences with CGC and their turn around times a while back (submitted 5 books and got them back 6 or 7 months later, wtf man!). CBCS has always been excellent to work with at shows as well as customer service wise. I am going to Denver Comic Con and was considering getting a CGC membership since they are much more reasonably priced now, turn around times have improved, and love the look of their new cases but after the issues that have come out I am not so sure anymore and will probably stick with the tried and true for me; though I do think the whole thing is being overblown.

    5. I prefer CBCS, just because they did an awesome job with my Walking Dead 1. Plus, I’ve had a number of positive interactions with their staff here in Phoenix. I hope to see them this weekend at Phoenix ComicCon.

    1. Ya but this Batman Rebirh 1 is not the “new 52 batman 1”, this is just a tie in issue. The valuable one will be Batman 1 once it offically comes out. Tomorrow is just rebirth 1, value wise its not the same

      4. The has a pretty big reveal.. most are anticipating him (Duke) as becoming a new Robin.. but that’s not the case. One shop was already sold out. Grab these, it’s a 1st and I feel that it’s going to go premium real soon..

    1. So duke is not a robin, but does go back for the offer and hus given a new suit? I guess that means we should pick this up?

  7. @ Jay: I know it’s not the #1 and its the rebirth for #1, but if the story is good and the book takes off, it will be worth the extra copies.

    1. Buy more I say.. there’s a nice new reveal and it’s not a new Robin from the looks of things. One shop sold out within 10 minutes this morning (they had a rush of calls to reserve copies for people).

  8. I also forgot to add captain America #307 1st MADCAP. I was reading a preview for deadpool 17 and MADCAP is making an appearance and it sounds good. Maybe that was a hot topic hint when they did the POPs for it.

  9. I picked up an Aircel The Walking Dead #4 yesterday. Haven’t seen one in the wild forever so I couldn’t pass it up.

  12. Had a pretty good weekend at the flea market…found in a dollar box:
    New Gods #17 Yuga Khan & Batman #356 1st Black Mask.
    And from a guy with a stack of mostly Marvel western comics a copy of John Wayne Comics #9 in decent shape. He was asking $5 and I didn’t haggle!

    I am getting all of the rebirth titles as wel as the relaunch #1’s and will seed out my pulls from there I think moving forward. I am going to give all of the titles a chance, which i regretted not doing for the new 52,

    1. Oh, I also ordered the new batman v superman $20 silver coin and the 2015 Superman $20 silver coin from the canadian mint. no tax, free shipping. Always will be worth a minimum of $20 face value. How can I lose?!?!?

Also, if you are a frequent flyer or want miles (and this is something people have done in the US for a while) is order a bunch of face value coins on a credit card and cash them in to pay the credit card bill. You get the points and it costs you nothing. People were ordering thousands of dollars worth of “golden dollars” from the US mint and taking them to the bank to cash in. Then they would pay their bill and score free miles or points.

      3. I think it is free shipping to US. That was one of the drawbacks that prevented me from ordering coins from the Canadian Mint, shipping costs made it not worth the hassle. Offering up free shipping probably makes them way more money.

        They’re about 8g of silver, so worthless in that regard. But both have a face value of $20 Canadian. Doesn’t look like the tax and free ship are to USA. Definitely not tax free to USA but maybe shipped free. Couldn’t really tell. As for the air miles, I believe they no longer offer them on mint purchases for this very reason.

  16. Anyone think it’s worthwhile looking for key Legion issues since announcements about the show is coming out?

    1. I would go with his first appearances, as for other mutants in the show I don’t think there will be many in the show if any. I think the show will be about him and handling his split personalities so maybe his different personalities 1st appearances may be worth picking out of the $1 bins

    Marvel:
    Deadpool 13
    -Nakayama Rebirth Cover (lucky enough to have the LCS owner hold this aside for me. I think this variant flew under the radar)
    -JTC action figure variant (these are either contrived or really good. Example: Leia in Bespin outfit felt contrived; Yoda for Star Wars #20 is bada$$!. The dialogue on this variant sells it for me.)
    Spider-Women Omega: this was a nice little cross-over which actually expanded the Earth-65 roster a little. I enjoyed it and I’m happy to finish it up. Lots of first appearances of Earth-65 characters. I’ll probably be sticking with Spider-Gwend afterward, anticipating Gwenom!
    DC:
    Batman Rebirth #1. This issue is a really good set up. I’m excited to follow Tom King over to DC from Marvel’s Vision.

    Batman rebirth 1 all have a slight pink discoloration on front cover since the back ad taints them, all whites are gonna be RARE!!
    I also picked up a NM+ Rai 0 for 10$ which I’m pretty happy about!

    2. Which all white are you talking about? You mean the variant with the whole body of batman? Cause those dont seem to be selling as much

      1. I just mean the issues that dont have any pink discoloration on them, regular covers that will be all white with no pink on them, I’m not explaining it well :p

      3. i’d be surprised if anyone finds copies without a least a tiny pink smudge. anyone that does is a definite hunter.

        1. I searched a pretty big stack today and didn’t find any without the pink smudge. Sadly a lot of them also had spine creases that would kill the grade

      4. Honestly, that second cover for Batman Rebirth #1 all white just doesn’t even look good to me. Is it me or did his junk area…. seem off, as if he’s a little excited!! I disliked the cover so much, I didn’t even bother sorting for some without the pink on them, the regular cover will be the winner in the long run me thinks.

      5. I found some Superman Rebirth white covers that were clean no pink smudges, but none of the Batman were clean.

    3. That’s a really good price for a high grade Rai #0… That one may be one to watch if/ when they finally start production on the movie.

    4. Just checked my rebirth issues…green arrow very pink, superman tiny bit of pink on the r, batman and green lanterns are pristine. 🙂

  21. With the news/rumor of the new Guardians of the Galaxy 2 villain being released (Ayesha/Her) it looks like Hulk annual #6 is a clear winner. This was on my “to pick up list” for a while but I never bought a few because of other purchases that got in the way. Wasn’t expecting the news to be announced this soon. I was able to grab a copy for my personal collection in pretty good shape on Amazon yesterday right after the news hit for $11. All the cheapo copies on ebay were already purchased.
    With that, for those who did purchase multiple copies now is the time to sell! Some of the prices for higher grades have been a bit nuts the past day and I just don’t think they will hold… The book won’t ever go down to $15 for a VF/NM again but I don’t think they will hold where they are right now for long. There was a realized sale for a CGC 9.0 for $300. For a “D” list character no less! Dunno, pretty risky at that price when in a few months it could be half that (still significantly more than where it was just a couple of days ago). Unless Marvel has big plans for her I can’t see sales like that sticking.
    On another note if we are going to see “Her” does that mean seeing “Him” (Adam Warlock) is in the cards? Can never tell which direction the film makers want to take but Adam Warlocks first appearance may be one to start looking at. Already a high price in higher grade but lower grades can still be found for close to what a fine 6.0 copy of Hulk annual #6 is showing right now. I picked up a few copies of Fantastic Four #67 a while back in higher/mid grade range and I am thinking maybe there is room for one more. IF they show Adam Warlock or even just hint he is on his way as an actual film character and not an end credit scene cocoon FF #67 and Thor #165 are going to go up even more than where they are now! Adam Warlock is an established “B” list character that has a long history where his early appearances are in my opinion still a bit undervalued.
    Ah spec game…So much fun if you get it right…So much cursing if you get it wrong.

    1. I bought 5 of these back in April when the first news of Ayesha hit all cost me below $10. I also question the most recent article on her calling her the main villain of GOTG2 because the original Ayesha article I read in April also said that EGO the living planet is the main villain in the same article that first told me about Ayesha. But pretty crazy to see one of these Hulk annuals go over $100 now it pays to be the early bird.

      1. Sure does… Moths back I did pick up some of Ego’s first appearance in higher grade hearing he was going to be in it. I was hesitant with “Her” because I didn’t see where she could fit in with the cinematic universe. Still, glad I got a decent copy on the cheap, but so difficult to gauge when spec’n with “C” and “D” list characters. Adam Warlock is one of the few Characters that is established that really hasn’t been talked about much outside of rumors (that I know of anyway). Here is to hoping GotG2 opens the doorway for him even if he isn’t in it. Anyway, it can be tough to estimate when the proper time to sell is. I hope you got a couple of your HA #6’s out there for a quick sale/profit!

  22. Hard not to buy a couple more DC Universe Rebirth 1 now that it’s on its 3rd printing.

    2. I saw that and it is crazy. But the thing is that who knows where the reprint market will be with these, more desirable due to small print run, but the price point is a killer on the 2nd and 3rd prints.

      1. Whats more valuable a low print run of a 2nd or 3rd print? Or a 1st print issue comic? Or does it just depend if the 2nd or 3rd print also has a different cover?

        1. You can never tell. Some reprints end up being worth way more than the original. There are collectors of reprints and completists. Some stores will not order second prints because they haven’t sold through the first prints and then sell out and order thirds. I am happy with the first print s

    I broke my personal high a couple of months ago. I might have just topped this with this week.

    1. I totally skipped Cinema Puragotorio as well beginning with issue 1. Like Providence, these have been hitting one local shops 1.00 bin for me so I’m waiting for this one as well to check out.
      I just realized I somehow missed picking up Goddamned.. ughh!

      1. It’s been forever since the last issue of the Goddamned so it’s an easy one to miss. I should have skipped on Cinema also. $6 should have been all I needed to know to be honest.

          1. I was just getting caught up and saw your list. I get a 10% at my local shop thankfully. My old store didn’t offer anything to me so I was extremely grateful for the 10%.

                2. Did you have to ask or negotiate for that? My shop gives a standard 10% on all comics you pull. They’re pretty cool though, if I pick up something off of the wall they’ll still give me the 10% discount even though it shouldn’t technically qualify.

                4. That’s a great discount. Makes it easier to ignore some of the generous online discounts that I see. I really like my local shop but sometimes I look at the early ordering discounts at some online shops and I think I should move some of my ordering over. Loyalty always wins out though.

      3. Anthony.. I”m pretty sure Dana Plato had been using drugs since Diff’rent Strokes, way back in the 70s, pretty much a scandal spanning 3 decades.. 😉

          1. Before I think. Game was released in 1992.. she had that pellet gun robbery incident in early 1991..

              1. To score more drugs.. hard to buy drugs on that minimum wage job she was working at a laundromat.. or whatever it was.

      4. Yeah, I think doing work for the game was her attempt to get straight and get back to working. Sadly, it didn’t really work out that way and beyond novelty those games never really took off.
        I had another CD game that I can’t remember the name of… it was live action and you were a an exterminator flying this rat catching machine thing in the sewer. Those live action games were a quick fad.

    2. What’s going on with Killbox #2? Midtown is sold out, my sub service scratched it as a back order. It usually takes them a day or two to update the notes for a reason. I know it was a low print run, but did anyone actually get these today? I thought #2 might have been a delay/pushed back, but everyone is talking about it so now I don’t know.
      I was looking forward to it cause #1 was a decent read. I’m not wild about hunting it down on the bay.

      2. My shops got them as well (both shops I visited had copies that is). I pre-ordered on Midtown cause most of my shops didn’t get #1, which Midtown also got in again so that’s when I pre-ordered #2 at the time.

      3. My sub is 0-2 on killbox. I just picked up a few copies from ebay. Still cover, but that’s #1 and 2 now. Gonna have to shoot them an email and see if they have any intention on ordering it in the future or if I have to go to Midtown, Tfaw, or beg my LCS to get me some copies. It was a good read, I don’t know how #2 is yet, but I’m surprised with its scarcity it doesn’t have more heat.

  28. Ok, so I know this was a last week release, but Captain America #1 is all over ebay right now for $20 because of the “hail hydra” thing. I have a hard time believing this isn’t going to die when #2 comes out, but do any of you guys have thoughts on this? There’s one listing on the bay with a table FULL of copies of #1 that are listed around $20. Wow.

    1. That’s crazy. The print run is going to be huge. But a lot of people do not buy to sell and will hold on to them. So you never know b

    1. I don’t think there is. Bulletproof comix has Dell’otto variants at 3000 for color and 1500 for the B&W I think. I got some Turner covers cause he passed and you usually don’t see anything like that. Unless his family or someone close to him with access to his unpublished stuff decides to do something like this again we may not see another cover like that again, which is why I thought it was neat and special and very rare. Just wish I’d bought another set.

      1. Ya i guess my point was that some of us are new to do and dont know who michael turner is or the fact that he passed away. So there should of been something on articles helping us out that are here trying to learn and catch up. It should of been like hey if ur looking to grab one grab this comic. No one recomends anything now its sold out and i missed the boat. The whole point of sites like this is to know whats good and not miss the boat no? Smh

        1. It’s hard to stay up on all the shop exclusive variants. Even the Michael Turner ones. I am sorry about that I missed the boat too.

      2. True. To be honest I was looking for Batman #1 variants and almost missed this one myself. I read it somewhere and I can’t give credit where credit is due, but the guy basically said store variants like this are usually for the PC (personal collection) and don’t do this well on the secondary and this fast. If you buy it’s because you want it, not because you’re trying to profit. That’s why I only bought one set. I think I can say safely NOBODY saw this coming. Same run as the Dell’otto’s I believe, but this one absolutely blew up.
        You might have missed this one, but there will be others.

Honestly they almost have all the same run ive called on most of them there all 3K color 1.5 k sketch, so the print run is the same on most, this one blew up cause sadly his passed, but once again im pissed cause im on this site daily so i didnt “miss it” i saw it, but when they posted the photo no one explained it. Not everyone here knows who these people are, im pissed cause i saw it get announce but cause no one made a big deal about it i let it slide. I got screwd 2 years in a row first the new 52 batman and now this

    1. I am sorry you are pissed about missing out Jay. Like I said, one person cannot be on top of all things all the time. The crew of people who comment here are usually great at pointing out things that I miss out on.
