Mel V's Variant Picks of the Week for 6/1/16

What up CHU? fresh off a great Memorial Day weekend …and fresh of a couple of light weeks for variants. June is here and the 1st week is a heavy hitter for the wallet. Tons of great books out this week. Missing from the main list is Kill Box 2 Variant. I understand that the spec on this book has passed but that should not stop people from reading this pretty good book. I loved issue #1’s plot and I cant wait to see what happens going forward with the story.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything #1 Cover C Incentive Kevin Eastman Variant Cover-Bebop and Rocksteady are looking like they are the ones that steal the show in the up and coming TMNT sequel. Already sold out at most online retailers this book could easily be the surprise of the week

Civil War II #1 Cover H Variant Yasmine Putri Party Color Cover– I’m not sure where I stand with my love/hate relationship with Gwenpool, but this cover is pretty funny

Deadpool Vol 5 #13 Cover H Incentive David Nakayama Rebirth Variant Cover– Speaking of Love/Hate ..ahhh.. I just don’t know how I feel about this Deadpool variant, I mean I get it Deadpool is a fun, quirky, fella and silly covers are his thing, but for the asking price, I just don’t know. If you can find it for cheap I’d grab it

Punisher Vol 10 #2 Cover B Incentive Vanesa Del Rey Variant Cover– First off I’m surprised Disney/Marvel let this one fly..its pretty intense even for the Punisher. Second, a couple of people I have spoken to didn’t like the cartoonish look of the variant, but I like it. It is a definite buy for me

Moon Knight Vol 8 #3 Cover B Incentive Jeffrey Veregge Variant Cover– Moon Knight 1 and 2 had some great cover art for their variants (and their regular issues for that matter), issue 3 is cool enough to add to the collection. Interested to see how this one shakes out in the aftermarket
That is all for this week. Enjoy the hunt.

  1. At ebay, expensive new variants sold seem to be Deadpool 13 Liefeld, ($184), Deadpool 13 curtains ($54) and Batman Rebirth 1 sketch ($40).
