Mel V.'s Variant Picks of the Week for 6/22/16

What Up CHU? Mel V. here with the latest variant picks of the week. I gotta admit I’m getting a little bit of variant fatigue, there use to be a ton of great looking variants, but with the exception of a few, it seems like great variant covers have been taking the summer off.
Last weeks hard to find winners and future “Houdini Variant” candidates: PATSY WALKER 7 and SUN BAKERY 2. These were even harder to find than I expected, if ya got ya hands on some, pat yourself on the back cause those were TOUGH scores.
Ok lets get into this weeks Picks:

Gwenpool #3 Cover B Incentive Variant Cover– Gwenpool does pretty well in the after market, cute cover ..if ya can get it for cheap by all means.

Wonder Woman #1 Frank Cho Variant Cover– LOL I can see Frank Cho likes em thick ..Nothing wrong with that Mr. Cho! Salute!

Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens Adaptation #1 Cover G Incentive Joe Quesada Color Variant Cover– Shouts to Drunky Wookie on this one. THE BIG BOY Variant -High Risk High Reward-. I think this Star Wars book is going to be big down the road as its the 1st appearance in comics of most of the newer characters from the movie. If you can get it cheap DEFINITELY Pick it up

Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens Adaptation #1 Cover D Incentive Variant Cover– This is the bit more affordable one, same premise as above I like this a bit more as a variant because the main characters are on the cover

La Muerta Descent #1 Cover C Variant Scott Lewis Premium Cover– Been waiting on La Muerta for a while now,and its finally here. I choose this cover because of the mysteriousness and seductiveness of the character, I think this one has legs ladies and gentlemen .

  1. Wow. Now everytime I look at that Wonder Woman cover all I’m gonna hear is Sir Mix-a-Lot in my head.

      1. Yes, I agree. I love Cho’s women. Liberty Meadows is good stuff and I bought the early issues of Savage Wolverine because of him.
Many people complain about JSC for being cheesecake. But McFarlane, Turner, Mad, JSC, Cho all have the anatomy fundamentals down so they can animate and exaggerate. Make them heroic and comic. Cho is definitely a little more realistic but they’re all stylistic (thats a mouthful). As much as some people complain about the dark moody and gritty writing, I feel that way about the ultra realism some artists use.

  2. Great list Mel. I pre ordered the Joe Quesada variant for my little one. But won’t give it to him till he is older lol.
