Marvel Revives Champions

Images last week came out showing different Marvel Heroes claiming “I quit” and now the reason why has become clear. Marvel is bringing in the characters who quit the Avengers to restart The Champions.

As part of the Marvel NOW! “Divided We Stand” initiative, a new Champions series is on its way with young heroes from the Avengers and X-Men. This comes after days of “I Quit!” imagery featuring many of the characters now revealed to be members of the team, in what’s described by series writer Mark Waid as a “generational shift.”
Waid, who will be joined on Champions by artist Humberto Ramos, currently writes the Ms. Marvel/Spider-Man/Nova trio in All-New All-Different Avengers. The writer said much of the other members were recommendations by Marvel’s Executive Editor Tom Brevoort.

The team consists of Amedeus Cho, Ms. Marvel, Nova, Miles Morales Spider-Man, and most interesting to me Viv Vision who first appeared in Tom King’s Vision #1. There has been some good heat coming out of Vision by Tom King especially with issue 5. The comic has been drawing in non-comic readers to the series. Not a bad idea to pick up early issues if you can find them in the wild.

  1. I picked up the Vision #1 when I bought the #5s last week. Strange….I thought this has to be the first appearance of his family, they could show up else where I love 1st appearances why not buy these. Oh and I believe it’s Viv not Liv.

  2. If they relunch the books that I am reading from Marvel, “I Quit” is what I am going to say.

  3. What is Marvel going to do another “Relaunch” ? I do have 2 complete sets of Vision so far.

  4. I have a pile of Vision#1’s. An eBay seller was dumping theirs at a dollar a piece, and I’ve been “championing” this series all along! Though with King’s finite run, I was starting to think Vision’s family would not live beyond issue 12, lol. Glad to see at least somebody makes it out alive!
