Wild Speculation: Could Yara Shahidi be up for a Marvel Film Role?

There are a lot of people who pop by Marvel Entertainment for a tour. Blackish star Yara Shahidi stopped by today and met with several people. Shahidi, who is 16 and an actress, has the looks to fit several key Marvel roles if they should cast the parts. Here is what down.

That pose…. Makes one wonder if there is some foreshadowing. Especially with who she is standing next to.

Yara Shahidi also posted on twitter about the experience.

She met with Sana Amanat, Director, She does Content & Character Development at Marvel. She edits Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, and some other books.

Sana had this to say:

She also met with Blake Garris, who is an Entertainment Producer/Director for Television and the Web.

Of course, it could just be a fan visiting Marvel, but is making me clench my last copies of Invincible Iron Man 7 and Invincible Iron Man 9 as she is about the right age and has the right look.

  1. Got a few more to flip! Been killn issues 7, 9 and 10 wich is under spected and going to second print according to Diamond, third Riri appearance.

  2. Lonzilla says:

While Marvel has been race and gender swapping like crazy in the comics, it hasn’t shown up in the MCU. They have a global movie audience to cater to and there’s zero chance of them going with Riri as Iron Woman or a Lady Thor in a $100MIL+ budget film. My 2 cents says to sell, not buy, if the speculators are eating it up.

    • Anthony says:

I sold about 10 copies of 7, plus variant, and about just as many 9, plus some second print 7’s. I did well. Even if it tanks, it wont make me sad that I kept an issue of each

      • agentpoyo says:

Heh, I just happened to have two copies of #7 in the PC (because I picked one up locally and forgot I pre-ordered one online) and then I picked up 2 x #9 so yeah, flipping one for $30 plus the #9’s for $15 profit paid my entire Invincible Iron Man Volume 2 collection up to date. I’m happy and if this new Iron Man/Woman does take off and start heating up more, well, I’ll happily sell my remaining #7 and #9 out of the collection if it’s money that can’t be turned down. πŸ™‚

      • agentpoyo says:

Oh and the funny thing is.. when I got my Iron Man #7 in the mail.. I was all bummed that I spent extra on a book I didn’t need.. that hiccup sure paid off.

      • Anthony says:

I thought you said you were staying out of the IM 7 IM 9 game?

      • agentpoyo says:

I was for the most part, when I found the lone #9’s I was like.. what the heck.. then I found my extra #7 so figured, it’s an easy $30, might as well. My area though is cleaned out.. you won’t be finding any hidden #7 or #9 around in Austin.

      • Anthony says:

There are none in Maryland either.

    • Alana says:

Kinda agree gender swapping Ironman in the MCU would hurt that oh so important International box office $$$.

      • agentpoyo says:

I’m not so sure. I think even if they made Iron Man a woman, I still think Stark would be around, he’s too important and I think Downy Jr. loves playing him, talk about easy money for him, the man could have 10 minutes total air time in the movie and bank $10 million or more.

  3. Iron man is an international weapons manufacturer, but is supposed to be for piece and a hero!? IF ANY SUPER HERO NEEDS A OVERHAUL! How about Stark almost dies or is crippled and mentors/sponsors Riri and does computer analysis and over the mic back up from from the lab style while shes learning her MU role?

    • Alana says:

Overhaul and swap them all I vote Betty White to be the next Black Panther.

      • Shines says:

Damn, why didn’t you come up with that before Abe Vigoda died? He would have been the perfect compliment to White Panther playing Aged Steve Rogers Cap!

And yes, I’m all for calling her White Panther!!

      • Anthony says:

Golden Panther? Or Golden Cougar even?

I dunno…I would like to see Carrot Top take up the role of the Black Panther…Imagine all those props!

  4. Just the flawed ones, breath of fresh air maybe. The new peeps dont all have to be women tho geez!

  5. emiobeg says:

Those 2nd prints of invincible ironman 7 & 9 features Riri on the cover

    • agentpoyo says:

FYI, you can still pre-order Invincible Iron Man #7 off Midtown for 35% off as well, for those that don’t get a huge discount at their LCS. You do have to pay shipping but that’s when you order other crud to make up for it. πŸ˜‰

    • Travis says:

Anyone know when those 2nd printings are coming out?

  6. Kyle says:

Think about it. Riri could be in the new Spider-Man movie as an Avenger in training. They may do an Avengers Academy movie or TV show. We have already seen the cross pollination of Marvel and Sony (remember the most recent Spider-Man cartoon, with White Tiger, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage). That aside, I do not have a problem with someone taking over the mantle of Iron Man, like I do with Captain America, Thor, or other established characters. Iron Man, in part, is a suit, actually multiple suits. We have already seen more than Tony Stark operating an Iron Man suit. And like someone else alluded to, this could be a Batman Beyond situation, where Tony Stark is sitting at a computer helping Riri navigate her role. Moreover, the MCU will not be able to keep Downey Jr. forever, especially since he commands such as high paycheck. Captain America 3 already put Tony Stark into a more political role and I could see him becoming a Senator or a political figure, which would make it difficult for him to operate as Iron Man; henceforth, Riri. My only problem with Riri Williams, is she is 15 years old and has no powers. It seems extremely irresponsible and criminal to encourage a 15 year old child to put herself in such harm’s way, even if she is highly intelligent. Damn, I wish I had kept a couple more of my #7 variants, but oh well!!

    • Anthony says:

Excellent points. However, there is a long history of capes putting children in harms way. Batman has learned that lesson the hard way several times and with children disappearing under Bruce Wayne’s care, I am surprised CPS and the police ever let a child near him. Lol.

  7. Kyle says:

Let me correct myself, I did not mean to say that the Sony Marvel pollination was the cartoon, but that here is a show with younger characters. Obviously the cross pollination was Captain America 3.

  8. Patrick says:

Everyone’s jumping to RiRi, any chance of her being Moon Girl?

  9. Travis says:

Wow, they had to of come up with Riri’s look with her in mind, now I’m even more disappointed I missed a chance to grab her 1st appearance for cover price.
