Wednesday Winner: Once Our Land #1

It is nice to walk in to your local comic shop on Wednesday and pick up your books. It’s even nicer to get books on Wednesday that sell for multiple times cover price by the end of the day. Once Our Land #1Β is one of those books. Β
We all knew in advance that Once Our Land #1 was going to be a hit. It sold out in advance at Diamond, sold out at online retailers in advance, and had people calling their shops to get copies lined up.
Copies of Once Our Land #1 were selling for up to $60 on eBay by middle of the day. Undercutters have set in and copies have been listed for as low as $18.
Scout made comment on a Facebook chat earlier in reference to the print run of Once Our Land #1. Do not expect it to hit the top 300 selling comics on Comichron as Scout has said the print is below 3,000 copies.

Hopefully once the dumpers get out the prices will start to rise again with the demand.
Thanks to comic genius Brian Springman for help on this one.

  1. I’m happy the copies I got were all in immaculate condition.. I’m no grader but honestly, two of them literally have zero flaws from what I can tell. I might just have to send them off to get graded.

  2. “I’m no grader…”
You sell stuff on eBay? πŸ˜‰
I couldn’t find a copy of this at all. I even searched 5 places. 5! Good thing I ordered the hardcovers. I’ll definitely read one and keep the one with the coolest sketch.

    1. I am not a professional grader either. I always list my books as the following grades “looks like my kids read it” “bathroom reader copy” “read once with Cheetos hands” and “unread”

      1. Yknow man, I have actually eaten chips and not paid attention and just greased up a comic. Luckily it was Humans #1.
“Ive been collecting comics for years…” …and this FCBD issue is definitely a colored and sketched limited, although continually expanding, to 250 copies. Featuring remarked smiley faces over your favorite xmen characters!

        1. Lol. Sad but true. Those thin covers
With black ink cause my fingers to become oil factories or something. Just reading a comic shouldn’t ruin it.

    2. I never put a grade on the comics I sell. I use terms like, new, unread and excellent, great, etc. I then let the buyer judge by the pics. If there spine damage or any other flaws, I point them out because I never want to hassle with a buyer coming back as, I didn’t get what was described. πŸ™‚

    1. I spoke with the creator yesterday and he has first print hardcovers left from the Kickstarter, so you should be fine. He also stated that there are no plans to reprint the graphic novel.

  3. After seeing that the print run is under 3000 I’ve decided not to read my copy and straight to the Mylite! The copy I have has 0 flaws so I’ll be sending it in to CGC.
In the meantime, since it rwally does look like a great read I’ve ordered the signed HC and will be patiently waiting for its arrival πŸ™‚

  4. Can’t understand why people are paying so much for a reprint when the original hardcover first printing with a smaller print run is still available for retail price.

    1. I think thers a majority who are sole collectors of comics while others don’t mind the “graphic novel”…..

  5. I tried to get it to no avail yesterday. I believe one store in Ottawa had 3 copies and another had none.

      1. I believe it’s a pre-sale. That’s a stock photo and the description says it’ll ship once received. The creator told me that my order will ship out early next week.

    1. I dont get that… You can still order these for 31$ off the creator website so why do people shell out big bucks on ebay for it?

  6. No demand on these where I live. First shop had 8 and I grabbed 3…2 1/2 hrs after they opened. Hit shop 2 at opening and grabbed the only copy on the shelf. Looks like the staff got to them. Four hours later I was running around and said what the hell and stopped back in to store #1. They still were there, so I grabbed 2 more. I guess I’m blessed to live in a market that has stores that stay on top of these hot books and consumers who don’t. I’m still picking up Hillbilly and SBDII of the shelf and selling them with ease. I picked up 2 copies of Solarman 1 on Sunday night off the shelf long after the news came out. Thank you to all involved with this sight for a very profitable week!!!

  7. None of the 8 stores in Louisville had any copies. I called all of them Tuesday and asked if it was on order before running out. I can’t decide if I should pick up the HC or not!

  8. None of the LCS had any issues available. I bought the HC signed off website. Rarely by HC, but signed and sketched gives me the ‘got a good deal’ feeling for some reason. πŸ™‚
