We open things up to hear from you. A free for all.
The 97th edition of the open forum!
Back from vacation and trying to play catch up, things have been crazy here. All the same, “Don’t mess with my Wednesdays”.
As always we also want to hear about your weekly pickups.

    Wonder Woman #1, 7, 9 1987 1st Barbara Ann Minerva and 1st in Cheetah costume also number1 has been heating up found in a lot for cheap.
    Punisher vol2 #4 1st Microchip casting call for Netflix Punisher series.
    Punisher #11 1st Frankencastle.

    2 of each Suicide Squad #1 cover
    Was going to pick up the fallen #1 1:50 but decided against it, Banners dead died weeks ago I can’t get behind a incentive variant for a death of a character when that death doesn’t even take place in the book and happened in a different comic. If this cover was a 1:50 variant for Civil War II #3 which contains the Death of Banner would have a lot more legs.

      1. Should be here soon, the way I preorder comics now I get my whole month of comics sent the last Wednesday of every month unless I ask to have something shipped separately earlier.

    2. I can get behind the Fallen #1 1:50 incentive variant if I can snag it at cover but yeah, I wouldn’t spend $50 or so on this variant, you’ll find it for $20 or less months from now and when Banner comes back, even less more than likely.

  3. So ALL of the copies of the Suicide Squad #1 Lee Bermejo Cover had horrible spine dents at my LCS. They were cover and must have had 10-15 of them, but all were awful. I have another local store opening at noon I’m going to check out (who also sells the Cover B’s at regular price) and hopefully those will have some nicer copies. I hope this isn’t a trend with this issue.

    1. All copies of the Suicide Squad 1 Bermejo cover that my LCS got this morning appeared to be fine and minty: no spine creases in the half-dozen or so that I picked up to examine.

    2. They all did. I have spoken to several retailers and they all reported it. I am not sure it is regional or across the board. Where are you located?

      1. I’m in Louisville. I went to the 2nd largest comic store at noon and theirs were just as bad. All had dents along the spine. Luckily the Hughes Supergirl’s were minty!

    Recent pickups:
    I upgraded my copy of Strangers in Paradise 1 3rd printing with cover damage to a 1st printing with some spine ticks and wear, but definitely a better copy. I plan on getting it signed, pressed, and submitted to CBCS next month.
    No spec here, but a band I like, Magic Sword, releases a new comic with each new CD that comes out. The music sounds like an 80’s TV/movie soundtrack similar to the Stranger Things soundtrack. The comics provides backstory to the music. I just picked up their second release, a 3-song EP with a related comic at a show.

  6. picked up Captain Marvel 1 (v7 Marvel) with Carol Danvers for $1.20 at Hastings going out of business sale.

      1. They also have the midtown Batman vol3 #1 Midtown variant signed by Tom Kimg for $8 pick up both for a 20 spot that’s a great deal

    1. The article I read mentioned alpha, then went on to say how unlikely it is for her because it’s too early.
      It’s most likely for magna or a plot line not from the books.

      1. It could be but filming the new season started in May so casting this late into shooting of a season would lead me to believe this character will appear in one of the last episodes of the season if not the season finale. Also since the casting is purposely not gender specific means they’re trying to hide something. To not have a gender specific casting means I think they’re casting Alpha and Beta from the same casting call. Also some say that the Whispers show up in one of the trailers, which is highly debatable but there is a scene with a horde of zombies all a white ashy color. But yes could be anybody including a new tv character.

      2. Either way, It’s a good thing I’ve got al these 1sts anyways no matter who it is from here on out!

    I’m considering picking up a few more copies of Briggs Land this week to stash, the buzz so far is very positive and of course it’s already optioned to AMC. How many did you all pick up? I’m wondering if I’m crazy 🙂

  14. I found a copy of War is Hell 9, first appearance of Death.
    I passed on Briggs Land even though my dog’s name is Briggs.
    I’m glad I picked up my copy of Runaways 1 last year for less than $20.
    SS1 variants were minty in my lcs on the west coast, although the color was darker than I expected, dragging down the art a bit for me. HQ 2 variant looked awesome in person.

  15. Does anyone here read Honor by Double Take? The cover to #5 for next week caught my eye and I’ll be grabbing a copy for sure. I liked some of the other cover art as well so I’m just curious how good or horrible this book might be. I’m considering grabbing 1-5 and checking it out. Any opinions out there?

    1. I read 1-2 of all th books and then my lcs just stopped carrying them. They didnt sell well which is a shame because I was really behind this company and its line of books.

    2. I grab the Super Packs of these. The price averages 2.00 per comic or less.
      I think Hastings carried these. BUT. The cover art is definitely better than interiors.
      I do enjoy the stories, though. as crazy as some of them are.

  16. Very disappointed in Creature.. Gun 2 rewards finally arrived today, totally trashed. They didn’t even bother to use a piece of cardboard or rigid mailer, just threw them in envelope, no backer board even. Total fail by creature. They’ve lost my support and patronage.

  17. On top of using some c grade villains for Spider-Man homecoming, I guess in the MCU Mary Jane isn’t white and doesn’t have red hair as Zendaya is supposedly confirmed as MJ now. Already showing signs of disappointment with the rereboot of Spider-Man.

  18. If they wanted to change her race that’s fine but find an actress with freckles and red hair, don’t insert a noxema girl without a freckle or red hair that can’t act because she’s a Disney recording artist and actor that Disney is placing in the movie. I guarantee you she’s never read a Spider-Man book in her life.

    I finally got to go to my main shop and I cleaned out my pullbox on Saturday, one of the highlights I had waiting for me was Deadly Class #1-#16 that I told them to put in there as soon as I heard the news about the series. I did not have time to hit any stores today hopefully I won’t be too busy tomorrow and I can go to a couple.
