Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery for 8/24/16

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 8/24/16:
Going to be a small week for me. Thank god. With Baltimore Comic Con just around the corner, I will be happy to save some cash.
Returning Favorites
Invincible #130 – a long standing favorite of mine that is sadly coming to an end. Kirkman’s other long running book that he is still writing.
Flash #5 – one of the only Rebirth books I am still on. Dropped most of them quickly after the first issue but Joshua Williamson’s writing keeps me coming back.
Clean Room #11 – Still digging this very strange Vertigo book.
New #1’s
Kingsway West #1 – Greg Pak’s new creator owned book. Cowboys vs. magic and monsters. Looks pretty good.
Lake of Fire #1 – Image’s latest launch. I am looking forward to this one Keeping up the vs. theme, this one is 12th century knights vs aliens.

Small Press Gem
Werewolves vs. Dinosaurs #1 – There have been a lot of vs. in this list this week. This one just seems awesome! Werewolves vs. Dinosaurs. You have men in black behind a small town being rampaged by supernatural threats.

The Uncatigorical One
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Annual #1 – Now, I know what you are thinking, the Power Ranger heat has dissipated. Well yes, but when you bring Rob Guillory and Terry Moore into the mix, well, game on. This has an $8 cover price and will be passed over by lot of stores as a result.
The Oddball Pick of the Week
Six Pack and Dog Welder Hard Travelin Heroez #1 – Back in the cult favorite series Hitman, a vigilante of the highest caliber was created. He welded dogs to bad guys. One of the oddest characters ever to appear in the DCU returns! I can’t Wait.
The Pick of the Week
Once Our Land #2 – the one with the most potential. The first book wasn’t heavily ordered and second issues usually are printed even less, they are already listed for well above cover price. Hopefully they will not drop like the first issue (which has bounced back some)

      1. Great! Liking what Valiant is doing recently with 4001AD being pretty good and War Mother that had a pretty strong 1st issue they’re on a roll with the new stuff.

      1. Yeah I’m dropping Batman as well, especially with the strong start to All Star Batman. The King run is just lacking depth, not to mention that most pages seem to have very little or repeating dialogue.
