Black Lightning TV Show in the Works

Thanks to Jeremy A. for sending this over.
This came out several days ago, however, with everything going on I haven’t had a chance to get to it yet.
Looks like the CW is looking to further its DC Superhero holdings. Black Lightning could be joining the other heroes including Arrow and Flash on the CW.
Black Lightning first appeared in Black Lightning #1 (1977)
From Deadline.com:

In a pairing that resembles a superhero team-up, I have learned that Greg Berlanti, king of the CW’s DC universe, has partnered with The Game and Being Mary Jane creator Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil for Black Lightning, a drama series based on the DC character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden. I hear the project, from Warner Bros TV and studio-based Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions, is currently being pitched to networks.
Written by the Akils, Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.

  1. Bought four of BL #1 last year in fairly high grade for about $4 each. Already sold one for $70. Wish I bought more but not complaining at all! Will sell two more when/if it becomes official and keep one for the pc.

  2. As someone who feels Trevor Von Eeden doesn’t get enough respect in the comic-book industry, this news makes me happy to think a character he had a huge role in creating (or as many argue, was the sole creator of) will be on T.V.

  3. I hope they race swap this character to a white guy with red hair, that way this character isn’t shallow and doesn’t suck according to James Gunn.

      1. I think Carrot Top would be perfect!!! Believe I have a copy of this when I was buying Black Goliath 1st appearances I think I threw one of these in on some combined shipping. If I don’t have it I will live.

  4. If this does make it to television I do hope they retain his afro helmet/mask. I know they won’t but that was awesome!
