  1. The Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Oregon is going to have a holiday double feature: the Star Wars Holiday Special followed by the Black Adder Christmas Carol. Bea Arthur, Boba Fett, and Black Adder!

      1. I do live in Portland, but I had to look him up since I don’t listen to talk radio. I like to think of Portland more as the home of Dark Horse, Oni Press, Top Shelf Productions, TFAW, Excaliber Comics, Cosmic Monkey Comics, Floating World Comics, Bridge City Comics, Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction, Gail Simone, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Greg Rucka, Rick Remender, Jeff Parker, Steve Lieber, Matt Wagner, Colleen Coover, Emi Lennox, Alex Ross, Robbi Rodriguez, and Jonathan Case. Image and the CBLDF are moving here.

        1. Lol. I like noise at work. He is a conspiracy talk show host and I love conspiracy theory. Some of the shows are out there (meaning odd ball topics) but he does talk a lot about Portland and it sounds like a cool place to be.

  2. A great week for me in Scotland!
    picked up at my LCS:
Nova #1 Mattina 1:50 variant for cover price
    Clone Conspiracy #3
    Unworthy Thor #2
    Eclipse #4
Batman #12 Sale variant (gonna drop this now)
    Walking Dead #161b
    Ringside #8
    Reincarnate #4 – enjoying this!
Seven To Eternity #1 1st print – my LCS still has a pile of these on the shelf
and pick of the bunch, at local charity store this weekend got a Supergirl and Legion of Superheroes #23 Hughes variant in FN for 99p!

      1. Only read the first couple of issues which I enjoyes so will bulk read it down the line

      2. I liked it a lot in the beginning but now I think it’s just ok. I don’t have any plans on cutting it but it’s definitely not a top of the stack type book. It’s really more of a book that follows the life of a wrestler but isn’t about wrestling. So if you’re a fan of crime stories but not necessarily a fan of wrestling you might still enjoy it.

      1. (can’t reply to your post for some reason!)
I had all 4 covers in a set I sold about a month ago for £40. Thought these would only be a quick flip, but thinking longer term worth holding, so decided to grab myself a copy of A. Thanks dude lol

  3. Not much for me this week, maybe Giant Days. Therefore I have a couple of thoughts and questions since it looks to be slow here.
    1) Anybody have experience with CFP Comics for pressing? I dropped off two books with CBCS at the RCCC in the beginning of September to be pressed and slabbed. CBCS sent them to CFP for pressing. I didn’t hear from them until late September that the books were received and they charged me at that time. As of now, their website says they are still pressing books received 9/7-9/14. It’s been about 4 months since I originally dropped the books off with CBCS and they still haven’t been pressed and I still have to wait the time to be graded and slabbed. Is this a normal timeline?
    2) My daughter is going to Newcon PDX, a cosplay-centric con, this month. I just looked at the guest list and saw Rikkishi of WWE wrestling fame. He is most likely going to do a panel on the use of costume in professional wrestling. Too bad my daughter doesn’t know who he is.
    3) Have you found the Plantation Pineapple Rum, Tony? It is now much easier to find and well worth the money. It won a lot of rum awards this year. I gave it to my brother-in-law as a wedding present. Another rum to look out for that was just released by the same company is Plantation OFTD, a complex, overproof rum that will knock your socks off, it’s that strong. You would normally use it to make a Zombie or float on top of a cocktail to give it a kick. The OFTD officially stands for “Old Fashioned Traditional Dark”, which sounds like a forced name because it really means, “Oh F**k, That’s Delicious” according to reports of people there at the time of the first tasting.
    4) I’m still waiting to hear from DCBS whether or not they will fulfill my order for the Biz cover to the Harley’s Little Black Book/Lobo crossover. I’m hopeful because I ordered it the day it went up, but they were the only online place I could find that listed it as available. I am guessing the book itself will be late solely because the nature of the Biz art.
    5) If you haven’t guessed by now, my two passions are comics and rum. Along with the rum comes a Tiki mug collection. I did not order the Star Wars Tiki mugs as they looked pretty cheaply made, but I was just able to score a Mondo Gremlins Tiki mug. I think they sold out the day they were posted online. I ordered the green mug, but was tempted by the “microwave melt” color variant. That being said, I’m even more excited about the two upcoming Tiki mugs: an Alien and an Iron Giant. I recommend looking at Mondo’s website at the preliminary sketches.

    1. 1. No. a friend from the site, Jeremy, has done pressing and cleaning of books for me and I have been happy with the results. I sent him a NM 98, Comics Primer 2, and a Batman 181 that I was really pleased with the results. But no I have. It sent them off for pressing. I am not sure if they offer a fast pass service but I always up pay for fast pass (right Drunk Wookie)
      2. Love seeing kids involved in the hobby. I am not a cosplayer but am friends with people who are. My recommendation is search YouTube for his old matches and school her on him.
      3. Not yet. I do not drink that much (rarely ever, except as of late) and have been exploring the world of bourbon, whisky, and scotch. I want to try it though and will keep an eye out on it.
      4. DCBS recently severely allocated me on an order I was ahead of the curve on. Kinda ticked me off and I am backing off giving them business for a while.
      5. I love Mondo. You should hook up with Poyo and go down to Texas for their convention. He and Jock are practically best friends now.

    1. They were pretty hard to find in physical form in my area.. none at the one shop I visited this morning for my usual pickups.
I did manage to snag both the Droids and Cherretier Aphra variants at cover price.

    1. Please read Atoll and White as well. White is awesome. Atoll is also awesome but a different story. I am looking forward to Hookjaw but felt the story was a little too lazy. Somali pirates were just kind of joking around, the one character is named Clay Klay. I do want to read the original books from back in the day now. Wonder if it has ever been collected.

  4. Been super busy this past week. Haven’t even finished last weeks book yet! Now that’s rare!
    This week my pulls are:
    Back to the Future
    Batman
    Clone Conspiracy
    Deadpool
    Green Lanterns
    Justice League
    Midnighter and Apollo
    Nailbiter
    Nightwing
    Dr. Aphra
    Superman
    Unworthy Thor
    The Walking Dead
Finally got a new phone too! S7 Edge (upgraded from Blackberry Z10….I know I know) Any app or game recommendations? Been playing with the Google Cardboard…may have to get my own!

    1. A blackberry? My brother in law still uses one of the old “business man” black berrys with the keyboard and all. I recently got the IPhone 7+ and love it.

      1. Lol yeah, I was pretty loyal to blackberry. I would have upgraded a long time ago but i have to buy my phone’s outright in order to keep my sweet plan and price. Mobile prices in Canada are outrageous. Had to save up for that ring!

      2. And to be fair, I got that blackberry on launch day four years ago when there was still a chance blackberry ten wasn’t going to be a bust! Never had a piece of tech that long before!

  5. I’ve gotten really busy the last several weeks and have a stack growing at home again.
    Batman #12
    Eclipse #4
    Nailbiter #27
    Ringside #8
    Unfollow #14

    World of Tanks #3
Dr. Aphra #1a and #1 blank
I got an email the other day that said my pre-orders for the new Hickman series Frontier #1b and #2 were canceled, too bad I was looking forward to that series.

  7. I had an interesting week full of surprises. First, I had a good conversation with Kevin Fields this week, and must say that he is providing top notch customer service over at Frankies Comics. Second, a whole bunch of books I ordered online came in including ASM #299, Web of Spider-Man #18 & #24, Venom #38 (also got #40 at LCS), Ultimate Spider-Man #33 and a Comicxposure Secret Wars #7 variant. All those are key Venoms that I needed for my PC. They all arrived NM, which was nice for a change. Third. I received my first nerd block box in the mail this week, I was kinda disappointed in the contents, but I’ve managed to flip most of the stuff and made a little profit, so that negated my initial resentment. I’ve got two more coming on my current subscription, so I’m hesitantly optimistic that this endeavour will be worth my while. Lastly, I had ordered at my LCS on Nov.15, 3 copies of Atoll #1, they didn’t arrive and my Animosity 5th print order didn’t arrive either. Doh. Aargh. The books I did get today were:
    Batman 12 variant
    Motor Crush 1 A&B
    TWD 160 A&B x2
Seven to Eternity 1, 3rd print
    Seven… 2 cover A
    Seven… 3 cover A
    Aliens Defiance 7
    New Wolverine 15 variant
    Moon Knight 9
    Clone Conspiracy 3
Curse Words 1 Ashcan ($9 CDN)
    Superman 10 A&B
Venom #1 couple different variants for $3 each.

    1. I also picked up the Planet Hulk TPB and am absolutely loving it. It’s the first Hulk stuff I’ve ever read. Really cool story.

  8. Grabbed a dr aphra 1 1 per store variant for 5.99 ?
Recent silver age purchase of :
    Asm 74
    Hulk 110
    Thor 153 159
    Dr strange 171 178
    TTA 75 83 97
    Avengers 34 50 51 65

  9. I almost picked up the Doctor Aphra 1 per store variant today for $40 but my common sense won out and I put it back on the shelf.
I went hunting for a McRib but the locator map lied and there were none to be found. Dejected, I hit up one of my regular hunt spots that was nearby.
For the same $40 I could’ve pissed away on Dr Aphra at the other store I walked out with..
    Drum roll please….
Wolverine Origins #10 3 claw variant
    Spawn #185 headless variant
Lock And Key #1 1st series 1st printing
Black Widow #1 Scarlett photo variant
    Money well spent I’d say

  10. LCS
    Revival 45
    Walking Dead 161 var
    Harley Quinn 9 var
    Batman 12 reg
    Didn’t see any Atoll. 🙁
