Last week ended up being rather boring, not a whole lot going on and not a whole lot of heat on anything. Is this week another dud? Is there going to be a surprise book that heats up? Well, there’s only one way to find out. Stay alive at least through the end of Wednesday.
I can say this week might be a bit more interesting than last, at least my pull list is a bit bigger so there’s that. With that said, let’s get on with the Poyo picks…
DC/Vertigo
Action Comics #976 (DC) – Superman Reborn! Midtown is limiting this to 1 per customer on both covers. It’s the “epic” finale they claim Superman’s life will change forever. Is it all marketing hype or is it something spec worthy? Maybe Anthony will obtain some spoilers, but since DC is rather bland each week for me, this is the only real book to possibly check out except the ongoing reads and pulls. Flash is still great, loving what Williamson has done with that title for sure.
Marvel
Elektra #2 (Marvel) Adi Granov Variant – This is already a book that’s heating up before it’s released. Find it cheap, flip it quick.
Small Publisher Pick
X-O Manowar #1 (Valiant) – He’s back, Aric of Dacia is back. My favorite all time Valiant Universe hero is back in a new volume. I would really enjoy seeing an X-O Manowar movie. If they did it dark and started it from his origins to how he became the man of the armor, that would just make a great movie I think and likely a nice trilogy or something. Don’t miss the next chapter of X-O… Oh and if you see the 1:500 Metal variant, I bet you can get a CGC 10.0 out of it…
Indie Pick
This week I have two of them and surprise surprise, both are from Vault comics, who have been knocking them out of the park it seems as of lately. Low Print Numbers + High Demand = Speculator’s Dream.
First, Heathen #2 hits stands. #1 was a nice flip for some, it’s kind of cooled off but we all know how #2 goes, usually smaller print run. This one is already sold out at most online retailers.
Powerless #1 – This one seems interesting enough and it’s already sold out at most retailers online as well.
“Billy Bannister lives in a world without superheroes. Not because powers don’t exist. But because everyone has them. After the outbreak of PRV, a virus that rips away those abilities, Quarantine emerges to stop the spread. An elite agent, Billy is the last line of defense against contagion. But his loyalty is tested when the infection hits too close to home.”
That’s all folks, sweet and simple this week.

Bleeding Cool reported that Larry’s Comics is “giving away” an X-O Manowar Bob Layton Iron Man 128 homage to anybody who buys a trade in person in store. You can also pay for Larry to donate a Caliant trade to his local library $25.00 and he’ll send you that variant as well. 500 copies made.
Very nice.
Larry is a good guy. I need to visit his new store.
Random fact: Larry blocked me on Twitter years ago when I called him out for somewhat racist comments he later apologized for.
RE: AC 976
Bleeding Cool ran a super secret spoiler on it. Pretty big changes, it looks like:

I had the spoilers for this last night and for the life of me could not figure out what the hell the energy thing was all about. Looks like whomever leaked them to me also leaked them to Bleeding cool.

We’ve got to investigate these leaks! These leakers are real bad hombres!
No. The leakers are awesome.
I refuse to reveal sources. You cannot make me. (Running away screaming down the hall, for some unknown reason shirtless)
So, N52 Lois & N52 Superman were energy forms. Then they were made flesh, and pre-N52 Louis and pre-N52 Superman were the energy beings and N52 Lois & N52 Supes were the flesh and bone counterparts. Then they merged together, so now N52 and pre-N52 Lois and Supes are the same.

Anyway, this explains the lead-up better than I can. It’s a lot.
So what’s the deal with Heathen #2? It appears to be a ghost at the moment. I managed to find plenty of copies and sold 2 promptly yesterday (within 5 minutes of listing). Were those allocated as well?
I think it’s just the case of a really small print run
Egggggsssselent. It’s no Gwenpool (Poyo’s FAVORITE!!) but it’s treating me well.
Imagine if we had Gweneathen…. She’s Gwen, who’s a Heathen….. Talk about a hit series…. Yeah, you reading this Marvel?
Gwenpooleathenerine… Gwen + Deadpool + Heathen + Wolverine = $$$$
