Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 4/26/17:
Overall thin week for spec but there are some good ones. Let’s jump right in
Black Eyed Kids #12 – Overall a great and eerie read. Joe Pruett knocks it out of the park each month. Francavilla covers… What more do you need?
Deadpool Vs Punisher #2 – Over the top violent story from two of Marvel’s cult anti-heroes.
Hillbilly #6 – Eric Powell doing what he does best, oddball horror tinged self published goodness.
Image Plus #13 – Here’s Negan was supposed to end with issue 12 but they pushed it out further. Awesome.
Flash #21 – After Batman #21, there is no way to pass this book up. Looking forward to the follow up to the death of Reverse Flash.
Rift #4 – This has been an awesome Sci/fi story. Very small print runs and good story that is easily translatable into other media.
Spookhouse #4 – See Hillbilly #6. Awesome fun spooky read.
One for the Cover
Savage Dragon # 223 April Fools Cover – Jock doing the art for Savage Dragon (on the cover that is). Funny cover stating Scott Snyder and Jock take over the book (I wish).
Zomben #1 – A new small press book where Ben survives the “multi-pocalypse” and is hiding the fact he is a sentient zombie.
Small Press Gem
Namwolf #1 – Mix in the writer of Space Riders with Eric Powell and you have something that cannot be missed.
Pick of the Week
Suicide Squad #16 B Lee Bermejo Cover – these DC B Covers have been good pick ups and in many cases good flips. Get these and flip quick, look at what happened with Death of Hawkman #6 Bill Sienkiewicz cover, and keep one for the PC for later. Check here for copies around 8 PM East Coast because if they pop up they won’t last. We warned you about this one back in March.
And this weeks new comic spec review if you missed it…
That is it for us this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.
