Sony Planning Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio Movies

Looks like Venom isn’t the only Spider-villain to get his own film from Sony, Sony is also planning a Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio film for each of the characters.
Kraven the Hunter first appears in Amazing Spider-man #15, Mysterio first appears in Amazing Spider-man #13

But this first movie in partnership with Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures is not just the first film in a Spider-Man franchise, but the first step in kicking off a whole new series of movies. We’ve already gotten confirmation of Tom Hardy playing Venom in his own spinoff movie, but the symbiote isn’t the only villain to get the spotlight.
A Hollywood Reporter profile about new Sony chief Tom Rothman indicates that the studio is planning projects based on both Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio, classic Spider-Man villains who have yet to appear on the big screen.

  1. Kraven could be interesting… Not sure just what Mysterio would do in a solo film. I could see him in a supporting role, but why the heck not! Regardless, good news! Have both their first appearances…Remember getting the ASM for $20 during a half price sale way back in the day. Collecting was soooo much more fun when you didn’t have to get a second mortgage for a comic book you wanted.

    1. Ooops…should have stated ASM #15…. early 90’s were still a very good time to get none mega key silver dirt cheap.

  2. Idk neither sounds like a good standalone film, nor does silver sable black cat. Why waste their time with supporting villains in lead roles, When SpiderGwen, Silk, Miles, Green Goblin, Doc Oc are all available.

    1. I’m not sure either, but hopefully they come up with something interesting. Green goblin and Doc Oc? I’m sure we will see them soon. If the Cindy in the movie does turn out to be Cindy Moon we will see her as Silk before long.

    2. Silver Sable/ Black cat sound like it could be fun..The only thing that worries me is Sony’s track record can be a bit disappointing. If all these characters do turn out to be part of the Marvel film U I would hope there is some sort of cooperation between the two studios. Marvel “helping out a little” could be the difference between great films and OK films.

    3. Might be related to rights. Marvel Studios and Sony made new rules for the new Spidey movie, I’m sure it comes along with which villains can be used by each, etc.

      1. With the past movies having Gwen Stacy in them I think a Spider Gwen would be a little confusing for the average non comic reading movie goer So I doubt they will use her that way. Ya never know, but if they go with introducing a female spider whatever I think it will be Silk.

    1. Yeah, seems for every one article out there that states Venom and company will be in the Marvel film “U” there is one that says the opposite… No sure answer makes me wonder if Sony and Marvel are still trying to figure things out. For Sony’s sake I hope these films take place along side others in the Marvel U even if they don’t or rarely appear together. Marvel, at least in their movies has a better track record.

      1. Yeah but Marvel has Disney backing them up on the movies. If it was just Marvel, you better believe there movies wouldn’t be the same or be released on time.

  3. I took a quick look at recent sales on Ebay of the first appearances of the Marvel villains that have just been announced to appear in the films…. The only one that is really moving is the first Carnage, ASM #361. I didn’t even try counting how many have sold in the past three days on there but looks to be well over 100 and probably closer to 150! The book is super hot! The others? ASM #13, 15, 20 and the rest…only a handful have sold overall. No surprise that Carnage is clearly the villain people are excited over!

  4. sony is starting to concern me . I belive they should have introducedvenom, carnage, black cat silver sable and especially mysterio&kraven the hunter in the first three to four spiderman movies. now guardian devil will never adapted and that’s my favorite daredevil story of all time . I do belive kravens last hunt would make a great movie . I just finished next weeks top twenty hidden gems. and had a lot of mestyrio&kraven books on it including marvel tales #151&#153 reprints asm #13&#15sony better check itself before it recks itself #testify blind adam out
