Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 8/9/17

Each week hundreds on new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 8/9/17:

Big week. Lots of good stuff of good stuff on tap. My midtown order will be bigger than my LCS as I didn’t bother to wait to see how many copies of this week’s pick of the week I could get locally (but don’t kid yourself, I am getting them locally too.) Anyway, here is this weeks picks.
Returning Favorites
Shadows On The Grave #7 – Richard Corben doing what he does best, horror.
Scooby Apocalypse #16 – Scooby Doo is the best. I have been a fan my whole life. This re-imaging has been a great read, and early issues are doing OK on the secondary market.
Mister Miracle #1 – Tom King is a pretty good writer. Batman has been good, but Vision was pretty great. This one falls more towards Vision than Batman.
Manifest Destiny #30 – I still love this alternate history series. Would love to see something come of it.
Low #19 – Rick Remender’s undersea saga. Amazing. Ryan Stegman cover looks great.
Edge Of Venomverse #4 – Wolverine-nom… Ok, a Venomized Wolverine will be cool.
Babyteeth #3 – I read the first two very early. I finally get to sit down and read a new chapter as it comes out and am looking forward to it.
The New Image #1
Redlands #1 – New Image horror is the way to go. It tends to be less ordered than other genres. This one looks fantastic. Do not miss out on the one-per-store Retailer Appreciation Variant.
The One That Needs Attention
Ghost Money #1 – Very intriguing story, “a team of military veterans are out to uncover a secret fortune built from the ashes of 9/11 so vast that it could disrupt the entire global economy.” Small press, good story, could be a hit.
The Sold Out Gamble
Toyetica #1 – Sold out online. Not many Action Lab books have heated up outside of Zombie Tramp, however, the crowd is moving towards this being desirable, as well as, being a small print run.
Pick of the Week
Supergirl #12 Artgerm Cover – Artgerm has a great following. I personally love his art work. The book is sold out online and is already selling for between $11 – $14. Easy pickup and flip.

  1. I’m thinking the same thing about Miracle Man, I have it added to my pullbox. I just picked up extra copies of #1 -#3 of Scooby Apocalypse, I have been getting it since it started.

  2. I totally welcome a Manifest Destiny TV show…. AMC should be all over this book and story, I think they would be great at producing this type of show.
