Iron Man #600 is in stores today. It is the last marvel issue done by Brian Michael Bendis before he heads over to DC. It also features the return of Tony Stark to the material world. No longer trapped in AI, Tony makes his return to the land of the living. But he is not alone….
Overall, the issue is pretty cool, but artists handling only one or two pages in the book makes it kind of hard to follow along with in places. A lot of plot elements that one has to wonder if Dan Scott will continue or scrap when he takes over. Finally, a pretty cool character mashup at the end.

First up, the solicitation:
BRIAN BENDIS ENDS HIS MARVEL TENURE WITH THIS VERY SPECIAL OVERSIZED ANNIVERSARY ISSUE! Tony Stark is back, but in what form? At least five huge surprises await new and old fans alike. Industry legend Brian Michael Bendis drops his final Marvel Comic to end an era, and he’s going out big! This super-sized anniversary extravaganza features artistic contributions from a bevy of Bendis’ collaborators from over the years, including Jim Cheung, David Marquez, Mike Deodato Jr., Mark Bagley, Leinil Francis Yu, Daniel Acuña and a few other surprises! All this and a huge new villain arises! And the futures of Tony, Riri Williams and Victor Von Doom are all revealed!
Tony has returned, so has someone else who used to wear the armor.
(James Rhodes (Thanos offed him a while ago))
Also in the story, from the (yet unfinished Jonathan Hickman) SHIELD story. He has plans for the future.
Many different artists provide art, and by far the coolest scene is this two page spread of an Armor War.
Flash forward to the Armor war, and it is none other than this guy helping lead the charge.
(for those playing at home it is the Infamous Iron Man Dr. Doom himself.)
But The Hood has other plans and doesn’t like him messing with them.
You see, what the hood really wants is….
But being the big sack of crap that he is, The Hood’s words not mine, he interferes, and pays the price.
A heavy price with very little reward.
And speaking of the future, and there is a funny scene where Tony Stark is trying to figure out if Leonardo is the artist/inventor or the Mutant Ninja Turtle, we run into a very familiar Sorcerer Supreme.
While he is familiar, he is not the one we know….
That is it, tell us what you think. Over blown farewell or cool first appearance of yet another Marvel Mashup character. Comment below.
Nice! I love this since I really don’t have time to keep up with everything. I really like the snapshot story format.
Who did the splash page? Ross?
It sure. I thought so too at first.
Didn’t expect that! I must ponder…
Overblown I think.. If they keep mashing up existing characters into other existing characters.. well, umm.. just shows their lack of creativity. I’m willing to bet when Slott takes over with the reboot, it’s gonna be all Slott, he’s not going to carry any of this hogwash with it.. Maybe I’m being too hard but I like Iron Man and what they’ve done to him over the past few years is just sort of make him irrelevant and not the Iron Man and Tony Stark that he is. And of course they bring back a dead character. Sigh!
I wonder how long this mashup was in the works…
Awesome they brought in Shazam Stark. Now if DC would give us Arrowrine.
I thought you wrote Arrow -Urine at first. LOL!
