Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the eek for delivery 9/5/18:
Returning Favorites
Solar Flare Season 3 #1 – Great series by my friend James Haick. Looking forward to this as a reader.
Killer B Covers
Deathstroke #35 Francesco Mattina Cover – Nothing much to say about it other than Mattina and cover priced covers are a must buy for me.
Harley Quinn #49 Frank Cho Cover – I know I mention these every month but I really love this one
Spawn #289 – Not as much a B cover as it is an A cover, Mattina cover. He really is made to do covers for this book.
Image New #1
Bully Wars #1 – kicks off for Image from Skottie Young. Young has his fans. Five covers on this one including a censored and uncensored comic book legal defense fund variant.
The Marvel Book for Fun
Asgardians Of The Galaxy #1 – cool cast of characters and tied into Infinity Wars. Angela, the not-so-beloved half-sister of Thor. The hotheaded Valkyrie – and the human who shares her form, Annabelle Riggs. Skurge the Executioner, freshly returned from Hel. Throg, the mightiest frog of thunder. Kevin Masterson, the boy who took his father’s mace to become the hero Thunderstrike. And the Destroyer, the Asgardian armor built to take down Celestials
One to Watch
Thanos Legacy #1 – Will have a big print run, especially for the high ratio variants. Still, it is Cates doing Thanos. Some interesting stuff in the book too. Cates tweeted out that people shouldn’t give away the surprise of the book. It is not what you think though.
DC Pick of the Week
Border Town #1 B Variant Jorge Jimenez Cover – spearheads a new wave of Vertigo comics. This cover is sold out online and selling for above cover.
Marvel Pick of the Week
Cosmic Ghost Rider #3 – Surprise first appearance (mashup) at the end of the issue. Look for spoilers tonight.
Small Press Picks of the Week
Day 165 One Shot – Source Point Press has had a couple of small spec wins lately. Small press books with small print runs. Mixes comics and war. I like it. (Cannot find this one for sale currently)
Family Graves #1 – Both are selling out at online retailers. This one really has my attention as it is about a family of monsters.
That is it for this week. Let us know what you are specing on. And in case you missed it, here is the New Comic Spec Review for September 5, 2018:

I really like that H.Q. cover. Is it b/w or color? I’ve seen pictures of it both ways.
B/w
Good, I like the b/w better.
That’s strange….I’ve only seen this cover in color.
Gotta add in that Unnatural #3 uncensored cover..seems to be doing well..any thoughts on the Elric book that is sold out at Midtown? picked up the A & B.
I picked up the uncensored Unnatural #3
