Ben Dunn's 'Warrior Nun Areala' Picked Up by Netflix

The second of two comic related projects picked up by Netflix is Ben Dunn’s Warrior Nun Areala from Antarctic Press. The 1993 indy bad girl series was picked up today and copies have been snatched up.
The character and concept first appeared in Warrior Nun Areala #1. There is also a signed edition that was pretty limited.
From Syfy.com:

Based on Ben Dunn’s manga comic, Warrior Nun Areala, the series will follow a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a second chance at life. Thanks to an ancient and powerful artifact now stuck in her back, she joins a secret and selective order of individuals, whose sole duty is to battle demons and other monsters on Earth.
All of that would be fine if she wasn’t also being sought after by the forces of both Heaven and Hell. Think of it as a mix of Van Helsing, Priest, and Spawn.
Simon Barry (Ghost Wars, Continuum) is serving as showrunner, writer, and director. Terri Hughes Burton (The 100, Eureka) is co-executive producer and Amy Berg (Counterpart, Da Vinci’s Demons) is a consulting producer.

    1. There long has been a debate about the first appearance of her. (Sad but true) So she appears no where in the story Shannon Masters Aka Warrior Nun Areala. There is a Mimi Masters that is in NHS 38. She appears on the cover. But she also appears on the cover of issue 34 and 37.

    2. Shannon Masters/Warrior Nun Areala doesn’t appear in NHS. The totally different character Mimi Masters (no family relation to Shannon Masters, just coincidental name similarity) is a witch who first appears in Ninja High School issue 4. She also appears on the covers of issues 34, 36, 37, 38, and 39.

  1. I bought warrior nun Areala #1 vol 1 on release and ive just checked my copy in the loft. Its probably a 9.0 helped by its glossy cover. Ive just moved it to the ‘special’ long box in anticipation of a price increase. Non for sale in UK on ebay.

  3. End credits scenes for Venom released and the plot was pretty much the same as the plot leak from a year ago.

  4. Warrion Nun Areala Vol.1 #1 is warrior nun’s 1st App. Be on the look out for the #1 Platinum edition with a 3000 or 5000 print run not quite sure which it is. It also comes signed. You can tell becasue the Title is in silver foil.
Honestly though, this comic has all the makings of a netflix hit. High action, supernatural, religious kind of vibe.
Hopefully it’s well done and it is a great show!
