Books hit the shelves Wednesday mornings, but sales go on before that. Here is what our picks are doing on eBay going into Wednesday morning.
Punchline #1 – None on eBay currently. There have been just a couple of sales, one sale for cover price. . This is a sellers market. Get a copy, list it, and set your price.
Batman #58 Mattina Variant – Not much to say on this one, sales as high as $5 plus shipping. For the personal collection with potential for growth over time.
Justice League #11 Mattina Variant – pre-sale books in the $5 to $6 range. Many retailers have this on eBay at cover.
Deathstroke #37 Mattina Variant – Of the three Mattina Variants this week, this is the winner. Presale closing as high as $9.99 with sets at $15, as of 11/4/18. More recent sales at $6.99 to $8.99.
Road of the Dead Highway to Hell #1 1:10 variants – two different 1:10 variants. Grab either below ratio and you are looking at a $15 flip potential.
Star Wars Han Solo Imperial Cadet #1Luke Ross 1:50 – Poyo was on to something with this pick. Sales as high as $85. Not bad considering this is approaching double ratio (1:50) Buy low, sell high if you can.
Rags #2 – The heavy hitting small press book of the week. Prices have been odd as they have sold for between $4 and $70. One closed yesterday at $44.95 and one on 11/2/18 sold for just below $80. And that is for the Antarctic Press version and not the self-published or variant.
Rags #2 Silver Variant – This is an easy one as there have been many sales in the $70 range. See it, grab it, flip it.

i really dont get the prices being paid for Rags, cheesecake soft porn cover and limited print run, interior art subpar, do investors actually believe this will have any real value?
See you said investor. I don’t that people are looking for investment, quick flip, or to hold the next hot thing.
It’s quick flip worthy. When you think about investments and our monetary system, it’s all make believe and artificial anyways.
it has to be some kind of appeal there ..itssold a ton of copies In the aftermarket and rags #1 still continues to sell well..diffrent strokes for different folks
people like what they like
apparently they like throwing money away too, lol, just my opinion
Agreed
I think the hobby suffers from too many spec sites too little to spec on most weeks.
Let them I say. People buy or spend way too much money on dumb things all the time.
Do I feel guilty for picking up a comic at cover price and turn around and sell it for 4 times or more online because people are willing? No, because no one is forcing such people to buy at the inflated prices set by the market.
?
yeah I dont fault the sellers at all, its the people paying ludicrous prices that I cant understand
personally if I had an extra 70 bucks to spend on a comic right now it definitely wouldn’t be for that, i’d take a nice bronze age key like DC comics presents #26 or something along those lines instead
I somehow forgot to pre-order Rags #2, but I did get a couple of #3 each cover but I’m sure everyone knows about it by now.
Wow Rags is going crazy. And when does Mattina sleep? Love all these covers
Rags #1 had a print dun od around 750 only. There’s your main reason for the value it commands.
Oh and sex sells!
I for one, really like the interior art.
If this comic gets optioned… watch out!
Lots of books, each week, have very small print runs. Small print for Rags’ heat doesnt hold water.
Punchout 1 seems to be selling for higher prices at ebay. Perhaps, Antarctic press is making a comeback in super women comics such as Warrior Nun?
I ordered some copies of the regular and ordered a couple of the variant from Antarctic directly.
I saw one on the shelf, meant to go back and grab it before I left, but was in a hurry and forgot. I did grab a rags #2 though.
Don’t count out the Nude Dollman Kills The Fullmoon universe #4
Like others have said different strokes for different folks. Most people would wonder outside of the comic community why you would want to buy any comic book for more than cover price because it is just paper with some ink on the pages. Those people are more than willing to spend their money in the stock market, beanie babies or bitcoin. Everyone has their thing and just because you dont like it or understand it does not mean that others dont dig it and will pay up for it since there were not a lot made of the first few issues.
Guys at work ask me all the time, “so let me get this straight, you walk into a comic shop, buy comics for cover price, and sell them for multiple times what you paid? Why do people do that?”
Only time will tell, we will see how Rags holds up come the one year after article.
Found a shop with two copies of rags 2 on the shelf. Would only let me buy 1 copy. I was ok with that. Flipped it for $35. I’ll take it!
Found three copies of young avengers 1 at one shop. Sticker price was $5.99 ea. Owner would only let me buy 1 copy! But he let me buy 2 copies of Captain America 25 (v7).
Kind of pissed me off. But they were in NM- shape anyway. I took the best of the three.
