Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery January 14, 2019:
The One to Watch
Avatar Tsu Tey’s Path #1 – New comic series in the Avatar world. Could be the first Avatar in comics, need a first appearance expert to chime in. Anyway, sold out at Midtown and worth watching.
For the Cover
Supergirl #26 Artgerm – Great looking cover, goes nicely with the previous issues he did. Great for the set.
Wonder Woman #62 Matteo Scalara Cover – Great looking cover that is sold out in may places. This one could be a grower.
The One to Find
Knights of the Golden Sun #3 – I can usually find any book, but have not been able to find this series in stores. Get it and flip it if you can
Small Press Gem
Appalachian Apocalypse #1 – New hillbilly Zombie tale. Small print run could make this very hard to find. Sales in the $10 range already.
Small Press Pick of the Week
White Widow #1 – Hot new indy book by Jamie Tyndall. Sold out and already selling above cover. Small print run for sure.
Big Three Pick of the Week
Catwoman #7 Ben Oliver Cover – This could well be the same as the Harley cover, great looking cover, in demand, and under ordered because the previous artist is no longer providing covers. Already selling above cover.
That is it for me this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on. And incase you missed it, here is this week’s New Comic Spec Review Video
Undercutters are already on Catwoman. I put in a request from my lcs for a copy, as well as to pull knights of the golden sun #3, as i had ought copies of 1 & 2 from them.
Venom and Tech 996 are also on my pulls. Not much else to look for this week, unless something else pops.
I managed to get 2 more copies of Appalachian Apocalypse off Mycomicshop before they sold out.
I only pre-ordered one copy to read. Of course if it’s on fire I’ll read then sell.
Why does that Catwoman show #6 on the cover?
Avatar has multiple FCBD appearances.
There we go. That was what I was looking for. I could not find any while searching
