Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 1/30/19

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 1/30/19:
Sorry for the lack of the New Comic Spec review video, but here are the books that would have appeared all the same.

The Good Read Pick
Fight Club 3 #1 – No spec value whatsoever but I love Fight Club. A defining movie in my life. The last series was bat-$#!+ crazy and looking forward to this one.

New #1
Wyrd #1 – Pronounced “weird”. Great looking fun book. Who does the government call when they have the supernatural cases, Wyrd.. Sounds like X-Files, which isn’t a bad thing.

The No Real Reason One
Elvira Shape of Elvira #1 – No spec play here. I have always liked Elvira. I have been picking up all her old comic appearances, many of which are hard to find. Campy fun. The 1:10 Francavilla Virgin can be had for less than cover.

DC Killer B’s
Batgirl #31 Artgerm Cover – Man, just classic. Batgirl is happy go lucky on this cover. I love Artgerm’s style and he has had some of the defining Batgirl covers, before Middleton stormed the art world, and many are still in high demand and sell for a premium. That may not be the case with this one, but still a great looking cover that is a must for the PC in the very least.

Marvel Killer B
Amazing Spider-Man #14 Parel Guardians Cover – I usually do not like theme covers, but this one has Wraith on the cover. He hasn’t had that many appearances and it is a great looking cover.

The Odd Ball One
Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter Of Terror #4 –  Jaws Homage. The prices on this series have been all over the place. It is a fun horror anthology that sells out every time it comes out. Not for everyone but I think this series has a lot of growth potential.

Small Press Gem
Shadow Play #1– New book by Richard Rivera which takes place in the Stabbity Bunny universe, made it’s debut in Stability Bunny as well (well first appearance was in an ashcan). Richard is a fantastic writer who is a fan favorite.

Small Press Pick of the Week
WWE Forever #1 – features a Razzah cover, his WWE variants do well. It has sold out in many places online, has great cross over potential between wrestling fans and comic fans, and has Andre the Giant on the cover.

Pick of the Week
Wonder Woman #63 Shirahama Cover – Hard to pass up a book that is already selling for multiple times cover price days in advance of release.

That is it for this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on and if you see something we missed.

  1. I wish I had heard of the Snifter of Terror when it first released. The title alone has me curious.
