Quick Spoilers: Immortal Hulk #15

Love when these start to trickle in.

Immortal Hulk #15 is in stores tomorrow. It is a Rick Jones focused story. Rick Jones is Hulk’s (and many others) former sidekick, as well as, A-Bomb. A-Bomb was Rick’s alter ego when he was infused with Abomination’s blood. Abomination, of course is Gamma powered. Check out the quick spoiler below:

So Rick Jones is a gamma powered person as well. Or at leasr used to be, seems Doc Sampson depowered him at one point with his Gamma Cure.

But I wonder if…..

A-Bomb is immortal as well….

A-Bomb first appears in Hulk #2 (2008)

  1. So I guess this lends some support to the theory that Marlo Chandler will show up as Harpy since she’s his wife… which also means that Betty should become the Immortal Red She-Hulk. I wonder if this is all working towards an Immortal team made up of a bunch of these characters?

    1. Yep hope to trade my collection for a paid off house in Hawaii in the next couple years. Marvel Silver Age is right where Golden Age DC was 10 years ago. Still somewhat approachable but major keys getting out of reach in all grades.

  2. I went to a Convention back in 2008…it was either a Wonder-con or Anaheim con and they were giving the B&W variant away for free. Got two of them. Time to sell one of them at least

  3. OK, I looked through my (Red) Hulk set and issue #2 has A-Bomb in it for sure. A full page cameo on the last page. The page before shows Rick starting to transform into A-Bomb with the full reveal on the very last page…..aannnnd guess what that means. Full A-Bomb on issue #3 which also shows him on the cover. Might want to get both #2 and #3 if you can still find them cheap. As usual there are variants of both issues as well.

    1. Pretty much, but Hulk #1 1962 is out of reach for most collectors, so at least this “immortal” stuff gives newer collectors. either to Hulk or comics in general a good starting point to jump on and have some keys to begin their set with.

      1. oops…. Think my computer shuttered for a second while writing that last comment. Meant to say that Immortal Hulk is a good place for newer comic of Hulk collectors to start their sets.

    2. That is correct, Alana. And it also puts 1st Immortal ABomb in Hulk #2. 1st Immortal She-Rulk in Hulk #15 and 1st Immortal Harpy in whatever book is her 1st. With the latter 3 being what was spec’d on here. Not sure why you keep bringing up the well known fact that the Hulk made his 1st appearance in Incredible Hulk #1. Yes, this title is called Immortal, but I have not seen anyone claim that the Incredible Hulk and the Immortal Hulk are two different characters. Just as we all know that the Spectacular Spider-Man made his 1st appearance in AF15, not Spectacular Spider-Man #1.

        1. But you know, if death is the end of one’s consciousness, then being Indestructible is not immortal if you can kill the mind but not the body. So was Indestructible Hulk indestructible by mind or body or both? 😉

    3. It is kind of silly people are clamoring this is the first appearance of the “Immortal Hulk” when it’s just a descriptive title. I’ll keep finding and flipping but yeah, first appearance of Hulk + Banner is still Incredible Hulk #1 way back in 1962.

Even if they’re just now finding out he’s immortal, that means yes, he’s been immortal since the beginning since it’s the same person/character.

      1. I look at it this way; not everything collects the same stuff, or collects it in the same way. Avengers #684 may not be the 1st appearance of the Hulk, and therefore had no interest from true 1st collectors, like Alana. But some people who may collect Hulk specifically may want to have that 1st book where he is known as Immortal. Just like that same Hulk collector may really value the 1st Joe Fixit. I am not saying this is the case, but, it may offer some insight as to why people pay what they do, for the things that they do pay for. Some collectors may have zero interest in anything older than a book from 1990. Im sure there are other examples, but the bottom line is is that everybody is different. We should appreciate those differences instead of trying to make the ones who are different conform to our/your/my comic collecting mindset. There is no wrong way to collect/enjoy/appreciate comic books.

        1. As a devils advocate, we are always conforming. You are no more independent of another’s influence than any other human being on this planet. The egos trippin on the IH semantics is getting old fast.

          1. I respectfully disagree, Chandler. We all may subconsciously be susceptible to outside influences, but a more confident, open, free mind will be able, if so desired, to consciously resist/avoid certain subconscious influences. We are not robots, we are not all equally influenced to the same degree, by the same things. IMO.

      2. I think some credence needs to be put into the fact that it is a great story and the art is really good. It’s rare for a modern marvel comic to have heat because of the story being so good. I don’t think it’s the fact that he is now immortal that makes the difference but issues that are heating up are directly related to the storyline which is going on. Forget The immortal tag and focus on the series itself not the one piece.

          1. How about immortal Spider-Man, or the immortal Wolverine, or immortal captain America….in fact, let’s just skip to the chase and go with the immortal avengers or the immortal MU.

Aside from Captain Mar-Vel…who isn’t immortal in the MU?

I kid. I think IH is a great thing…but we all know marvel will get greedy and ruin it eventually…like with mashups last year…

I like the thought of Cates writing silver surfer, though…excited for that one.

        1. Everything you said, Tony, I agree with. However, the debate over the hotness of this particular series is a different debate from the 1st appearance debate, respectfully. I do hear your point though.

  4. BTW, what’s the over/under on Hulk themes books making the Cvrprice
And CBSI too 10 lists this week? I’m a thinking 8/10….maybe 16 of 20 if you include top 20.

  5. And is it just me or is the first true appearance of the Red Hulk Hulk 2 and not Hulk 1? While he is on the cover of the first issue, unless I’m remembering things wrong, he first shows up when his arm rips through the ship and grabs Shulkie in issue 2.

    1. And speaking of Red Hulk….. I know they are carrying on his death in Captain America, but he should be Immortal too. But people aren’t paying attention to the “you can’t kill him at night” aspect.

  6. Grabbed Hulk 2 & 3 (2 copies), Incredible Hulk 347 (first joe fixit/Marlo Chandler) and 2000 series #27 (first Devil hulk cover/banners kids)

    All for $3.99 and less!

  7. What do you gys thin about FF48 is it cheap to buy now? One 9.2 sold today. I think it has a lot of room to grow considering the disney fox deal.. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

    1. Well, “cheap” is in the eye of the beholder. The prices for Fantastic Four #48 have almost doubled in just the past year alone in all grades. I think the last time this book was cheap was right before Sony allowed Spider-man to join the MCU. After that ppl started speculating that Fox would do the same and of course they eventually sold their entertainment rights and all Marvel properties to Disney. Prices started creeping up and of course exploded when Fox announced they were going to sell.

With all that I still believe that FF#48 & #49 have a ton of room to grow. Yeah, they are legit keys but I can see them growing to silver age mega key status. All depends on if Silver Surfer and Galactus are used and used properly on the big screen moving forward.

Long story longer, if you have the money get FF#48 in whatever grade that won’t set you back too much. Anyone interested may want to do it soon because with the merger complete info will be “leaked” soon. “IF” what everyone expects comes true and Silver Surfer along with Galactus are set to show up on the big screen there will more than likely be another big jump in price!

        1. I hear ya Jay. I almost missed the boat on FF #48. Right as merger rumors hit a while back I was looking to buy an un-graded mid grade. They were selling as fast as I would click on them (literally) and jumping in price by the hour. There was one PGX graded 6.0 that was still left for a semi-reasonable BIN price. I usually don’t buy PGX but pulled the trigger on it. If you are still in the market at some point, look to Paypal and their purchase specials. They usually have or often have a one to two year no interest option if the purchase is over $500. Add that to when Ebay has an Ebay-buck special going on and it takes some of the pain of a larger purchase away. When the two years is up and the comic is fully paid off it will probably be worth double or close to double what you paid. That’s usually how I make my two to three bigger purchases a year.

      1. OMG…I just pulled up a pic of FF 48 and I think I have it somewhere in a long box. It’s one of a handful I still have from my older brother’s short foray into comics when he was a kid. It’s not mint, but hopefully at least a 5.0 grade. Will have to find it at some point. Yay!

        1. I’m pretty sure I nabbed Uncanny X-Men 65 from my brother too. That book contributed to my fondness for Neal Adams’ artwork. Wish I had his whole run of Uncanny.

  8. I believe they are bringing back red she hulk, harpy Abomb etc in order to have a Hulk3d army in place to stop/defeat devil hulk when he is introduced proper.

  9. This apparent satire on the revolving door or resurrection for comic book characters seems to be expanding to all its main characters. How excited will fans be when they inevitably all become “mortal” again? Will all the spec money spent be worth it? I doubt it.

    1. In my opinion, the Immortal Hulk series is a fine example of everything that is great about comics. From a readers perspective, a collectors perspective, the LCS’ perspective, and the speculators perspective.
