Immortal Hulk #16 Goes Back for Second Printing. So does the 1:25 Variant

We posted up the twisted variant for Immortal Hulk #16 a while back and reaponse was pretty good to the cover. It was learned today that that Immortal Hulk #16 is going back for a second printing. But so is the 1:25 Variant

Thats right, Immortal Hulk #16 will get a second printing, and, so will the 1:25 Variant.

    1. I preordered the 1:25. Got it at a good price and pretty much no way I will lose money on it. But still. This kinda stinks to high heaven.

  1. So if I understand this correctly… a retailer has to order 25 copies of the second print cover of #16 to get 1 of the 1:25 variant second print cover ???

    1. That is correct. But that is also the way all ratio variants work. Just less likely for retailers to order 25 copies of the regular second print

      1. They might order 25 copies now knowing that they can flip it for $200 or more claiming its rarer then the first print 1:25 incentive.?

  2. I got a notification today from one of the shops that I have done business with. They are asking $65 For the 2nd print. I just laughed and deleted the email. It sucks that comic shops want to play the secondary market speculation price.

    1. You should email that retailer back and let your feelings be known to them, and perhaps stop buying from them as a way to show that you don’t appreciate their tactics.

    2. Also, he $65 charge pays for the 25 second print copies of he Regular cover they have to order…so they get them for free…all profit, no risk to them.

    1. Not to mention that that #16 1:25 is one of the ugliest covers I have ever see. It is terrible. In all honesty, it is such a bad cover that I would be embarrassed to have that in my PC. If there turns out to be some major 1st in that issue, then I will be more than happy with Ross’ artwork on cover A rather than that hideous 1:25.

        1. It is a classic Hulk concept too, Banner vs Hulk. Its almost the entire premise of the character. Regardless of what inspired the 1:25 artist, it is one damn ugly cover. However, I do like #315s cover.

  3. Ordering 25 second prints just to chase after the Variant? No thanks. I don’t think I could get rid of those 25 even if I gave em away for free.

  4. Marvel will do just about anything to make a buck! As far as I know with DC you can just order any cover you want?

  5. I hate to say it but I am debating getting this. Sure a lot of the larger dealers will order 50 or 100 to get some of these but I have a feeling most of the smaller dealers will not be ordering up to 25 copies. I’m sure this will eclipse the print run for all the other reprints in the series, but it could still be a small number overall for the 1:25. For a lot of collectors out there it is all about rarity. If this turns out to be the smallest printed Immortal Hulk book that alone could gain a lot of appeal. Might still be a good flip opportunity even at the steep asking price of $60 plus but only if the initial print run of the variant stays somewhere between 300 an 400 when all is said and done…Maybe 500 but anything over that might keep prices low enough to where the buy in really isn’t worth it for a flip. Also, I wonder if there will be some hidden surprises in #16 that haven’t leaked being the reason they are releasing this odd, variant reprint. They already have the regular ratio and some store variants. Just makes me wonder. I mean odds are it is just greed but ya never know. Anyway, I am mulling it over.

It appears that almost every issue has gone back for 3 or more printings. If this causes additional copies of the 2nd to be ordered it should reduce the chance of needing a 3rd or 4th this time. The cover art hasn’t been released yet for the standards 2nd Printing. It may end up being a desirable cover all by itself. It appears the Standard cover has or will be sold out at Diamond. Story content itself may increase demand and possibly drive up the price of the 1st Print making a cheaper 2nd print necessary for all the readers who pick up off the shelf after the release date instead of committing ahead of time. E-Bay’s already getting $50 to $60 Presales in the register. Seems like a low risk gamble to pick up 25 now and a qty variant to go with it.

    1. The description I see says it’s a recolor, which I think means same art but different background\shading.

If it’s not new art for the 2nd Printing I believe it would be the first 2nd Printing in the series not to have new cover art.

There’s no description at Diamond other than what I pasted above to say. I imagine we’ll have to wait to see what it looks like after FOC.
