Mel V.’s Variants of the Week for April 3, 2019

What Up CHU Mel V back in the building with another round of Variants of the Week for 4/3/2019

Pretty Light week this week.. lets see what’s up!

Amber Blake #1 by Catherine Nodet – Amber Blake is getting some good reviews online . I have an advanced copy I have yet to read. Gonna give this a shot

Deathstroke Vol 4 #42 by Francesco Mattina – Mattina continues to deliver fantastic covers..shops are up on the B covers by now so this should not be tough to find tomorrow

Die #5 David Mack Variant – David Mack does a cover on one of my favorite series going right now.. yes please let me get that

Green Lantern #6 by Lucio Parrillo – Parrillo is hit or miss at times ..this Green Lantern is a hit for me ..one for the PC

Lady Death Apocalyptic Abyss #2 by Paul Green Premium Foil Cover – Hefty price tag on this, I love Paul Green’s rendition on this one. game time decision at the register for me. Lets see if undercutters get a hold of this one so I can get one for cheap. That usually never works out for me

Major X #1 by Whilce Portacio – I’m sure Anthony will have spoilers. Will this have legs? Only time will tell. For me its fear of missing out. I’m getting one. Doing well on the aftermarket with sales between $50-$70

Immortal Hulk #16 1:25 Variant – Not really feeling the cover, but Immortal hulk is on fire right now. I’m sure Anthony will have spoilers on this one as well. Some retailers I’ve spoken with are upset about the 2nd print of the 1:25. Some retailers think it’s a good idea. What are your thoughts? Leave them in the comments below.

  1. Is a 2nd print on a variant good for the industry? Time will tell but can you blame Marvel for doing it? No, not really. Last I checked they’re in the business of making money and if printing more ratio variants makes them more money, well, that’s just how capitalism works right?

If retailers don’t like it, then don’t buy it. It’s really that easy. No reason to get your panties all knotted up over it I say.

    1. does it even matter at this point? IH has blown up so much that a 1:25 is going to have a 2k+ circulation number. I checked eBay a few minutes ago and there are tons listed already and its only 8AM on Wednesday. The early issue variants are where the money is on this run now, it’s gotten popular enough that they would need to do a really high ratio variant to spark my interest.
