LIVE-ACTION GHOST RIDER AND HELSTROM TV SERIES HEADING TO HULU IN 2020

Marvel.com has reported that a live action Ghost Rider and Helstrom TV series is heading to streaming service Hulu next year.

From Marvel.com:

Daimon Helstrom first appears in Ghost Rider #1 (Vol. 2) and Robbie Reyes first appears in All New Ghost Rider #1.

“Marvel’s Ghost-Rider” and “Marvel’s Helstrom” make their way to Hulu in 2020, as Marvel Television and Hulu expand their partnership with the addition of these two new live-action series based on fear properties.

“Marvel’s Ghost Rider” centers on Robbie Reyes, played by Gabriel Luna (“Terminator: Dark Fate,” “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), the quintessential antihero, who lives on the Texas/Mexico border, consumed by hellfire and supernaturally bound to a demon. When he unleashes the Rider, Robbie brings vengeance for the innocents he encounters, but struggles controlling the power he wields. “Marvel’s Ghost Rider” is executive produced by Ingrid Escajeda, who will serve as showrunner, Paul Zbyszewski and Marvel Television’s Jeph Loeb.
“I couldn’t be more excited and honored to be handed the reins to a Marvel character as beloved as GHOST RIDER. This story hits every note for me—my love for grounded yet conflicted characters and my desire to scare the $&!# out of people! It’s important to me to find a take that thrills existing fans as well as wider audiences and I believe we’ve done just that,” said Executive Producer and Showrunner, Ingrid Escajeda.

Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer in “Marvel’s Helstrom.” The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the worst of humanity—each with their attitude and skills. “Marvel’s Helstrom” is executive produced by Paul Zbyszewski, who will serve as showrunner and Marvel Television’s Jeph Loeb.

“As a lifelong Marvel fan, I feel incredibly fortunate to help bring this darker, thrilling corner of the comic book universe to life, and I’m just grateful to everyone at Marvel Television and Hulu for the opportunity,” said Paul Zbyszewski, Executive Producer and Showrunner. “Marvel’s known for all the heart, humor, and action they put into every series, but this time around we’re adding some scares to that mix. I think we’ve found a compelling way to dissect some of our deepest fears through the experiences of our two lead characters.”

“We’re thrilled Hulu will be moving into a new—admittedly chilling—corner of the Marvel Universe with GHOST RIDER and HELSTROM. Paul and Ingrid are crafting gripping adventures into fear that live in our SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE cornerstone.”

Both series are co-productions with Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios and join the upcoming third season of “Marvel’s Runaways” and recently announced adult animated series based on the popular Marvel Television characters including “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.,” “Marvel’s Hit Monkey,” “Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show,” and “Marvel’s Howard the Duck,” which will culminate in a special event, “Marvel’s The Offenders.”

      1. My guess is that the Feige stuff will be Disney + and the Loeb/comics division stuff like this and the old Netflix stuff will go to Hulu.

  1. Cool! Always liked these characters & have the majority of their books.

Isn’t Disney in the works of buying out Hulu anyway? Thought I read that recently.

  2. I got lazy and didn’t list any of the books I bought when this Ghost Rider was introduced on Agents of Shield. Probably should look for them. I know one of them is the 1:25.

  3. You know Santana most likely will show up with Daimon so Vampire Tales #2 May came into play.

      1. Oh just read that pretty much confirms her. Guess they don’t want to advertise her by her full name keep the angry letters away.

  4. Are they going to use the same actor for Ghostrider as Agents of Shield? Agents of Shield is suppose to be part of the MCU so wouldn’t they be forced to use him.

    1. Robbie Reyes has already appeared on Agents of SHIELD, played by Gabriel Luna, and he quickly became a favorite amongst the fans. It’s unclear whether or not the Ghost Rider series will be bringing back Luna or not, but Marvel fans will certainly hope that’s the case.

  5. if my boy.mickey mouse is right.and he is b.p.that actor will keep playing ghost rider.i always loved son ofsatan.here is a question.maybe by season two or three if hellstromgoes that long.we can have pasty walker hellcat reintroduced into this huluverse??marvel spotlight #12 is a great buy.love ya all blind adam out

  6. “Just last year, Hulu was still divided evenly between Disney, Fox, and Comcast — each owning a 30 percent cut of the company — alongside AT&T’s roughly 10 percent stake. But Disney gained a controlling interest in Hulu when it bought Fox, and the AT&T sale means Disney now owns a staggering 66 percent of the service, with Comcast owning the remaining 33 percent.”

  7. Marvel registered production-based trademarks for: Glyph, Helstrom, Ghost Rider, and Spirits of Vengeance.

    1. That means good chance solo Glyph show, Damion and Satana show, solo a Ghostrider show, and all of them together like Defenders was for Netflix will be Spirits of Vengeance.

  8. “Daimom Helstrom first appears in Ghost Rider #1 (Vol. 2) ”

Um, no. DamioN HelLstrom does though.

    1. It’s actually Daimon, not DamioN if you’re gonna try and point out mispellings by others.. We don’t need grammar nazi’s here, that’s just being pedantic. We all have a good idea what people are referring to when they mistype a word or name.

      1. Don’t be sorry, the person pointing it out got it wrong as well.. 😉

It’s Daimon, not Damion.. If you’re gonna get petty by others spelling mistakes, at least get your own correct. 😉

          1. It’s also a non-issue to me. People who focus on misspellings need new priorities in life.. But I just find it funny the person calling out the misspelling also got the name wrong… Muhhahahahahaha.. 🙂

            1. You are completely missing the point. I read the news release directly on the Marvel website with those spellings, not here. Why are they not spelled the same is the point.

              1. Could be due to the term “Hell” and Disney being a family friendly company. If Ana Helstrom is in fact Satana, they probably shortened it to do away with the Satan part.

                1. Disney doesn’t like to push Satan and Hell they don’t want anyone to find out Mickey is really Beelzebub.

      2. My kingdom for an edit button, if only such a thing could exist. Can the staff at least moderate and edit their comments? god power should come with the ability to put the G back in god I would imagine. Might help with the occasional typo saving an argument as well.

        Dear Santa
I’ve been really god this year. Can you please bring mommy and daddy an edit button.
Thank you Little Timmy Your bestest friend

        1. Unfortunately there will likely never be an edit button on WordPress comments. Edit enables deletion and that can mess up a flow of the conversation if someone decided to go and remove all their comments. My take on it is, don’t worry about typo’s. If you really worry too much about them, type out your response in a text editor with spell check, when satisfied, copy paste as comment.

        2. Yes. We can moderate and edit. However, I don’t like changing people’s words and the only time I delete is if there is vulgarity or just general rudeness to others.
