Wednesday Open Forum

Wednesday

Wednesday, the best day of the week, new comic book day. It is like your birthday in the middle of each week (well, one where you buy your own presents.)

We open things up to hear from you. A free for all.

The 236th edition of the open forum!

Believe it or not I still haven’t seen Endgame!! Am I the only one?

As always we also want to hear about your weekly pickups.
So, What were your pick ups?
What had disappeared off the shelves?
What was sitting on the shelves?
What back issue deals did you grab?

  1. A CGC cover A of naomi#1 fetched $400 on eBay today. i will continue to pump the tires on this series. period.

  2. I would like to give a big shout out to DRog. I was put in touch with DRog via Anthony and the CHU Wednesday Forum a few months ago. DRog had asked me to pick up some con exclusives for him, from a fanexpo show that I attended in March, which I was more than happy to do. DRog had given me money up front to get the books for him, so it literally was no problem at all for me to help him out.

Last week I received a package in the mail from DRog. Being the gentleman that he is, he kindly sent me these two books as a thank you to me.

These books are special to me not only because they were a thoughtful gift from a fellow comic book enthusiast but because they are not available in my country, so I have no way of acquiring these books without paying secondary prices.
So, again, I want to thank DRog for his kindness and wanted to share this story as I think it is a great example of how awesome our lil hobby and community can be. And a tip of the hat to CHU for making a neat clubhouse for us ‘kids’ to hang out in. ?

      1. I love that Swamp Thing Capullo cover, and the Batman #4 is 1st Jinny Hex, I believe. Awesome books for my PC.

        1. That Swamp Thing face is just spectacular!..They need to reprint it with no Trade and then a 1:25 foil variant of that reprint!

    1. Glad you enjoy them JClue! Was happy to send them your way. The icing on the cake is that I found these in NM or better shape…which is really tough for these Walmart exclusives. Glad to hand them off to someone who will truly appreciate them!

I hope you get your Black Order #1 variant soon! That one was in NM+ Or better shape…hard cover to find in that shape…although I found it in the first shop I looked ?

      1. Yeah, still working on getting that one through customs. I cant wait to get it so I can finally read that damn mini series.

  3. Spoilers tonight or tomorrow night? Need another set of eyes to confirm Leviathan in DCYOTV, 1st appearance, Yes/No?

    1. First appearance of Leviathan is Batman: The Return. (Finch 1:200 cover)

      1. Batman the Return #1 1:200 is a sketch cover of Batman. Leviathan in the book was a group. This is a person.

        1. Two full pages without actually assigning a name so if it’s not the group Leviathan it must be the leader or some significant figure. Future spec? I’m so swamped I don’t know if you have a spoiler up yet but if not I’ll be happy to scan those two pages for you to use.

  4. How do you decide on which comics to provide spoilers for? Obviously there has to be some hype leading in or be tipped off….but are you limited in any way what you have access to Tuesday nights?

  5. Do they typically ship extra copies when you custom order comics from Diamond? For example, I ordered 5000 copies but got 5100 shipped with the extras invoiced as NO CHARGE REPLACEMENT. I’m assuming they assume I could go through 5000 and complain about 100? I got an extra 100 and 250 QTY Variant also.

    1. LMAO … they shorted me my Variants. I was so pissed. this is the second week in a row that i been shorted variants. Just hoping i get my Savage Avenger variants.

      1. I had a good week. 3 comics called in damaged out of over 5,600 items in 18 boxes. The only real irritant is the $274.55 in shipping charge I have to pay on next weeks invoice for what arrived this week, the $16 and change I had to pay this week for 2 DC folded promo posters shipped under the old account that’s supposed to be closed and having all those items sent with the new account for free like the Marvel posters and the 1 poster that appears to be invoicing again for next weeks delivery. It appears that even after a year now they can’t get my DC promos to go to the new account and the old account to stop shipping items. No freight credit showed up on next weeks invoice for last weeks two posters so I’m assuming another’s about to join the hunt for freight credit remember to keep asking list. I notified them two Wednesdays ago about the two posters to try and stop that from shipping without any success. How hard is it to just call someone in the packing area and tell them to throw two posters in the trash can instead of shipping them?

That and the never ending wait for about $900 overcharge for Fantastic Four #1 to show up. Nine issues into the series now?

    2. Yes they do. They order overprints of all regular comics (even when marked out of stock) for replacing damages, and when you order a custom variant they just send you those overprints since no one else is a customer for them. It’s easier to send you all of them than to hold them back, wait for you to report damages, ship you replacements, then trash the rest.

  6. i expect raws of 1st print to keep drying up, but a flood of graded copies hitting ebay over next month or so. unless reveal is crap there is much to push it down

  7. Saw Bendis speaking of Rose & Thorn and incorporating her into upcoming storlines (along with great Kudranski art). Good stuff…cool character(s). May create a bit of heat. I love that series with Hughes covers.

      1. Split personality Rose & Thorn. Appeared back in Supes Girlfriend Lois Lane #105 I believe. Few appearances since but most notably a series in 2003 with Hughes covers written by Gail Simone. I enjoyed it.
        Pretty cool character imo.
Bendis said 1. He likes the character 2. He’s incorporating her into the Leviathan plot. 3. The art (coming in Action comics) looks good.
Just something for the radar..they are cool books even without heat.

  8. So Gotham is full on Batman now and wish it wasn’t its last season. Doom Patrol has been great and is top notch tv. The long night was to dark to see and Cobra Kia was excellent again. On top of all this Avengers Endgame what a week it was.

    1. I thought Conra Kai was entertaining, but not as good as S1. They certainly set up things for a 3rd season.

Agree that Doom Patrol is awesome.

  9. Well, we all saw a spike in A-force #1 (first series) this past week…It also looks like Asgardians of the Galaxy #1 is starting to get some interest. Just like A-force most of the ratio variants are pretty cheap. Might be time to pick one up for the pc just in case.

      1. Yup, they aren’t flying off of Ebay, but the volume sure has picked up.

        1. Even if sales are low, sales are sales. That means supplies start to run dry and if the demand sticks around, we all know what demand + limited supply leads to? 🙂

          1. I wonder how many copies of #1A Mycomicshop has? They bumped the price up to $2 whole dollars on their web site..up from $1. Until they sell out standard #1 won’t go up much unless there is a surprise announcement or something like that.

      2. I was also wondering with all the A-force talk going on if Marvel does indeed make an all female movie I wonder if they would call it the Lady Liberators. They have been around a while on and off… DC will soon have The Birds of Prey and also the Female Furries with the New Gods. I’m sure Marvel will counter those with one of their own!!!

      1. Same… Last week I got one of the 1:50 for $11. Just need a cover A. There are definitely some good prices out there. Local comic shops are probably the best place to still find these super cheap.

  10. Someone was explaining to me the reason Captain Marvel is so overpowered in the MCU is because they will use her to introduce Rogue and the Xmen and when Rogue drains her Carol will permanently lose a lot of power and Rogue will gain flight and super strength from it. This is what takes place in Rogues first appearance in the Avengers annual #11. Does Carol’s OPness so far mean the Mutants are on the way makes sense to me.

    1. In Endgame during the team meeting sitrep, Okoye mentions an underwater earthquake near the coast of Wakanda and then just after that Cap talks about wales in the manhattan or something… maybe Namor was being teased?

      1. I would have loved Captain America 4 to be INVADERS set in WWII. They did a great job with the 1st Cap movie but I didn’t get anywhere near enough Howler action to be happy and they skipped right over the whole Invaders existence. They could at least write it in using the second Cap and Bucky replacements after Cap was lost in the comics until the end of the war. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_of_%2776_(Marvel_Comics)

Easy way to intro Namor, the original Human Torch and a list of others and bring in a new low rent body to replace Cap’s original actor. Stretch it over a couple decades, intro the 3rd who becomes US Agent later as well as setting up Namor for Johnny Storm to find him bumming later!!!!

      2. I wonder the same thing why mention the underwater explosion in less it had meaning somewhere else.

  11. How is Savage Avengers, DCeased and Gogor looking for spec? Most stores are having sales on FCBD including new issues so I’d like to hold off paying cover price for any of those if I can wait, unless something is likely to sell out before then.

    1. Gogor I can’t see stores ordering heavy on. The rest probably will be fine to hold off on until the weekend.

    2. Savage Avengers is sold out at Diamond but should have been heavily ordered by stores due to the incentives and screw up listing Venom 13 as the PDF of Savage avengers 1 by mistake. I can’t see it rising in the short term but it does seem to be a long term series stocked with fan favorites so there’s hope.

DCeased #1 is still in stock right now in the standard cover and even though it’s got my vote for best DC single issue in the last 5 years or so, most people still believe it’s a Marvel Zombie knockoff which is totally inaccurate and stupid. It’s like calling Walking Dead a knockoff of Lifeforce just because they have zombie like inclusions during the story. I expect DCeased to be a slow riser since it’ll take word of mouth and time to get the idiots to actually read the book first that are already bashing based on speculation instead of actual first hand reading experience. The Variant and Horror covers will probably disappear first.

Gogor is still in stock at Diamond. Noone ordered it for subscription and I even accidently underordered it.

For future use, you probably could do better than waiting on a sale by subscribing with the store and qualifying for whatever discount they offer. Then you save on every book while guaranteeing they’re in your box, sale event, unexpected demand or not.

      1. Thanks. I do have a subscription, but am looking to make the switch to DCBS. I didn’t feel buying any new series this week if I could get them half off at a sale elsewhere, but I honored my commitment to buy everything they already held from April for me.

  12. Picked up another copy of the McFarlane Crow cover at a local swap. Preordered a couple of copies of the upcoming Lobo cover for Teen Titans.

  13. not sure what I am picking up this week.going to order 51 copies of inmortal hulk #2 and get the2 of the 1 in 25s. easy money.going to the secret stash this Saturday.kevin smith in the house.if anyone needs anything signed l.m.k. at comicpimpvip@gmail.comf or prices .just saw end game and shazam last night.not sure what I loved more.both great movies and both great for different reasons.i think those shazam new 52 books with shazam have legs. I think fear itself #7 is a better bet then thor #390. tony please look out for an email I am sending ?love you all blind adam out

  14. Cosmic Ghost Rider 3A
War of the Realms 3 Young Guns
    Naomi 1 3rd Print
Justice League #(whatever was out this week)

Also picked up 9 copies of Exiles #2 and 3 copies of #1 for a buck each

  15. the nerdist radio confirmed aforce movie and title in works today in l.a.

    1. Do you have a web link? I haven’t found another mention of it on the internet in the last 24 hours. has to be more than just you listening to the show right?

  16. NAOMI #4 (2ND PRINT) MAR19245 5/15/19 Now Expected 5/8/19

    BATMAN: DAMNED #3 MAR190493-494 5/22/19 Now expected 6/19/19

    DOOMSDAY CLOCK #11 MAR190507-508 5/22/19 Now Expected 8/14/19

    1. At his rate Batman Damned #3 will be released a year after issue #1….wtf?

And as for doomsday clock…this is by I don’t start reading the series until it’s completed….I’d be rereading issues 1-9 all over agsin to remember what took place…

    2. I swear to god, if #10 doesn’t come out 5/29 as planned, I’m never buying Gary Frank again. I’m going out of town in June and cancelling my entire comics subscription to go online ordering, and this’ll screw it up. Gary will probably miss the deadline by a day, and it’ll be bumped to first week of the month like last three. Then #11 goes to September, and #12 will go to January 2020.

  17. No pickups for me. I did go to Awesome Con on Saturday had a great time. First thing I did was hit up the Oni Press booth, I also stopped by again on my way out. I did not get any signatures this year. Dropped off a bunch of books at CGC, including Immortal Hulk #2 Zaffino variant. Looks like Midtown changed up their site…….I’m not liking it too much.

  18. Someone was talking about Hercules coming to the MCU via Asgardians of the Galaxy here on CHU the other day, The Rock is having dinner with Kevin Feige soon.

  19. Pickups this week yay I bought comics…

Super Sons #10 these kids of villains may be all our future DC villains.

DCeased #1 IT Homage I have many Pennywise things around the house.

Year of the villain midtown and reg copy

Marvels Annotated #3 Dell Otto I was going buy the Alex Ross which is gorgeous Silver Surfer but then I see this Dell Otto cover of the year!

A couple more agents of atlas preordered.

    Howling commandos of Shield #1 1:25 x3 #2 1:25 x1 first Glyph.

Asgardians of the Galaxy #1 1:25

  20. Other than DCeased, Just backissues for me.mmhit an lcs I hadn’t checked out in maybe 6 months…all cover price and NM+ or better shape:

    Venom 165
    Venom 13 (latest series)
    incredible Hulk 418 (direct)
Batgirl 18B (Middleton Harley Quinn cover)
Aquaman 15B (Middleton Black Manta cover)
    Peter Parker 76

  21. a local guy has a rental space full of comics that he opens up on weekends and there are always decent finds if you have the time and patience. back issue pickups over the weekend:

    cap sentinel of liberty # 9 $2 (x 3)
    shade changing man # 2 $1.50
    shade changing man # 3 $2
    journey into mystery # 125 VG $15
    invaders # 12 FN $3 (x 2)

definitely had better hauls but i can’t complain.

  22. So Major X #3 we’re getting more Dreadpool who debutted in #1 but hasn’t had his identity revealed yet and now 1st appearance of the Scurge with members Mega-Max, Pigskin, deadeye dick,Mini-Max and Vance Rebus. Now to finish reading and see if any of them live to see issue 4.

    1. The Administrator? That can’t be the actual name of the leader of the Scurge.

    2. I’m sorry BJ, but RESPECTFULLY, you’re mistaken. The 1st appearance of all these LIEFELD characters was in WOLVERINE #154 (2000) not MAJOR X #3. This is their second appearance.. Have a good day everyone thx..

      1. That’s why we ask the questions and post the comments so we can find these things out. Now to go find the book you referenced for reference.

        1. So this is Dreadpool’s and the X-Ential’s Second Appearance also. That’s a lot of Second appearances in a single comic!!!!!

          1. I read my Wolverine collection about 6 years ago and sold it off immediately as a set. I think 154 was one of the 3 issues from the 88 series I was missing so it’s new to me. It may be a hot seller on E-bay but without a reprint it’s a book I would never have read if it wasn’t for this getting me to track it down digitally today and even that was a miserable experience first getting some pop up on the site for “Cunt Babes” or something equally offensive jammed frozen on my screen several times until I registered and logged in. That’s just another reason I’ll never send kids off unsupervised with expensive electronics to read free comics online. You just never know what’s going to pop up. Make Mine Paper!!!!

      1. I’ve been saying all along it would be from that page which is exactly what I wanted and it is his First Cover Appearance which is why I wanted them to choose that page.

    1. Is there a virgin reprinting of #1, or any of the other issues beyond the initial release?

              1. My wrist is starting to hurt having now to scroll so much.. is there a point to posting what we can find already on Diamonds or Previews site? I’m confused why you’re posting these long lists?

                1. I’m on a PC so all it involves is holding the clicker on the little thing on the side or taping the arrow down button to scroll. The first list has omissions I couldn’t edit information into or delete myself. Since someone was confused about whether any virgin variants were ever offered it seemed like a simple choice to provide a complete list of all of them so people can check for themselves for whatever’s been out so far like virgins, specific artists or whatever.

If we had the option to edit our own comments I could fix the first ones or remove them to leave only the final list.

              2. Don’t take this the wrong way, but can we leave comments to actual commenting? Comments section really isn’t designed for Diamond text sorting.. it’s hard to follow the next actual comment when I have to scroll through pages of Diamond lists you’re posting.

                1. Never heard of such a thing but I bookmarked it to try out in the future. I’m used to traditional message boards where I can go back in, edit my comments and delete stuff as needed. Great for fixing typo’s and missed capitals the worn out shift key leaves all the time.

Still working with two fingers here looking done at the keyboard while typing.

You can also use the arrow down button for scrolling or just hold the cursor clicking on the little button on the side to make scrolling easy.

                2. I understand how to scroll. I’m just saying.. I read comment, comment, comment.. BAM, huge list of stuff irrelevant to comments, comment, comment.. . etc. They seem out of place and just too much.

And please don’t use CHU as your personal text pad to keep notes and edit. The purpose for comment sections and for forums is for conversations with others. Definitely utilize the justpaste.it I say, share if you want to share for a particular reason.

  25. “WAR OF REALMS NEW AGENTS OF ATLAS #1 (OF 4) OVERSHIPS!
Retailers will receive an extra 100% FREE copies of WAR OF REALMS NEW AGENTS OF ATLAS #1 (OF 4) (MAR190793) for all orders received by the FOC. Arriving to meet the in-store date of 5/8/2019.”
That’s the one everyone’s jacked up about getting the production run of #1’s doubled right?

  26. the doubling of cover A doesn’t count for the incentives, only reason they would double like that is if book was very under ordered. the incentives and that Philippines variant are the big spec books

I’ve been looking at first appearances as well, I already pre-ordered a ton of copies of this book a month ago when I extensively researched new characters in comic previews at some website. (BTW: I also found out that in an upcoming July Fantastic Four series; Prodigal Sun #1 there will be a new character. I can’t find anywhere to pre-order the Prodigal Sun #1’s yet, can any of you help me out?) I would also like to pick up cheap ratio variants of The War of Realms Agents of Atlas because with that many new characters, there is a good chance that one might make it big.

The game the characters come from Future Fight has 100 million players worldwide if only 1% want the book that’s still a million people.

War of the Realms Agents of Atlas #1 New Characters
War of the Realms: Agents of Atlas #1 is in stores May 8th. It has been getting some heat pre-release due to several new characters being introduced. The team is made up of Asian and Asian American characters including several well established ones; Silk (Cindy Moon), Brawn (Amadeus Cho, formerly Totally Awesome Hulk), Shang Chi (Master of Kung-Fu) and Jimmy Woo (super spy). Now, on to the new characters that are appearing in the series.
Plenty of reasons to grab War of the Realms: Agents of Atlas #1 , here are the new characters:
Luna Snow – Seol Hee is an aspiring K-Pop singer who gets exposed to an experimental Cold Fusion Energy Experiment. She has appeared in Marvel Future Fight video game as an original character. This is her first comic book appearance. She has videos of her songs released on Youtube.

Crescent – 10 year old Korean girl, named Dan Bi, who puts on a mask and becomes a super hero. (lower left hand corner behind Shang Chi). When she taps the crescent moon on her mask she unleashes… Also from Marvel Future Fight, and first comic book appearance
Io – 12-foot-tall glowing “half-moon” bear (left center, um.. the glowing bear). From Marvel Future Fight and first comic appearance.
Sword Master – Lin Lie, a young student who finds an ancient artifact that gives him incredible powers, but who unwittingly unleashes an ancient evil tied to his own family’s past. First comic appearance. Has not been in a video game. (top left, guy with the sword who looks like Wiccan). Has appeared in Marvel Chinese digital comics
Wave – mysterious new Filipino heroine. Co-created and designed by Leinil Yu . (not pictured). First appearance in comics, has not been in a video game.
Aero – Lei Ling , an architect with superpowers that allow her to manipulate air currents. Has appeared in Chinese Marvel digital comics. First appearance in comics.
Also possibly appearing in the book is White Fox who first appeared in the 2105 Contest of Champions #1.

      1. Even though the Philippine Variant and incentives want be doubled, some people were excited about the book in general since it would be the 1st Appearance of a ton of new and ordered heavy on the standard cover. I know I increased my order a good bit to get extra standard covers based on this talk about all the new and now it appears it’s being doubled after the fact which could hold down the price of the standard cover similar to how Image screwed us with overproduction of Oblivion Song #1. if overproduction keeps the price down I’ve got twice the copies coming at twice the shipping weight of a comic less people will want.

        1. I don’t think it will matter much in the long run. First appearances of new Asian characters while Marvel is giving the go ahead on an Asian cast movie Shang Chi is gold. That 1.2 billion Endgame made in a weekend was a big part to due with Asia moviegoers. My LCS will get 4 copies instead of 2 not that big of a deal. Midtown limiting them to one copy per person is going have a good amount left lol. But even the double of the print run probably sits at 70k, lower than many books coming out currently. The difference is this book will be on international news programs and talked about around the world. All it takes is one of the new characters to make it to a movie or tv and will be $100 book. I think they could sell out the book at 10x the print run. Will be interesting to see what goes on come this Wednesday and Thursday.

  27. WAR OF REALMS NEW AGENTS OF ATLAS #2 (OF 4) just became the HOT book of the series.

It’s already past FOC, it only had one 25 qty variant so it probably wasn’t ordered that heavy. All these #1’s will not have #2’s to pair up with them ordered. #1 should stay cheap and encourage more people to give it a try and they will be stuck waiting for 2nd Printings to arrive.

  28. Don’t miss out on that Dell Otto Marvels Annotated #3 i think it could do big things. Not a 1st issue, high cover price, 3 covers good chance very few of them out there come Wednesday.

      1. Curious about that. It’s basically just a reprint of the original #3’s cover if you’d lifted the acetate up to see the page underneath that shows underneath. How can we expect to get $7.99 for that when the originals sitting around unsellable for $1.75? it looks like mycomicshop has raised their price recently so I bumped mine to $7 but it still sat unwanted for maybe 8 years or more at less than $2.

        1. I’m picking them up just for the cover art. I pre-ordered both the Ross and Otto variants. I normally don’t buy into the overpriced reprint type books but I’m a sucker for Silver Surfer covers….

The upcoming Hans variant for issue #4 could also end up being a hit as well.

Marvels Annotated #4 (of 4) (Hans Variant)

          1. At least no one can complain about this reprint dragging down the price of the First Printing, if anything it’s having the opposite affect on mycomicshops prices, but that’s not necessarily meaning that’s leading to sales. You can get #3 First Print right now, take a good pair of scissors to the acetate and have the same cover to hang on your wall and $6 left in your pocket to buy it a nice frame from the dollar store.

            1. Well, I have Marvel Unlimited. Most Marvel books I can already read digitally and most of the new books show up about 4-6 months after they’re released. Some days I’m not even sure why I buy any Marvel books.

              1. I’m getting more frugal about what I buy reprints of for the store anymore, especially with those True Believers. If the originals a long term permanent resident of the cheap boxes like Generation X #1 which had a nice shiney cover that’s a hard sell at less than a buck, the $1 True Believers were even harder to move. I don’t believe I’ve moved even one copy yet and its been two years now. Now it’s only the one’s for high $$ books ordered. This whole 80th anniversary thing’s had me skip some titles entirely if they were reprint material like that Marvel Tales Avengers this week and even then they sent me one for free!!!

                1. I sell a lot of True Believers, most weeks more than what comes out the 50 cent boxes, just not the one’s reprinting stuff in the 50 cent boxes. A lot of people want cheap reprints and even those who have high priced 1st prints grab them for reader copies so they don’t have to handle the original. Many of the big one’s are actually going up in price. $3, 4 $5 even as high as $15 for that Amazing Fantasy #15

          2. 74’s pretty good for a big fella. 7 feet 3″ at his peak I just read.

Now the question pops up again we just dealt with when Princess Leia passed. Do we go get those unsellable sets of Chewbacca’s series from 2015 and mention them, the $1 reprints of #1 or pretend they aren’t still stacked up collecting dust? We’re only 2 days away from Star Wars Day!!!

      1. Yeah, very sad. So many people who helped make our childhood awesome are leaving us.

  29. Copies of Ascender #1 signed by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen are available for cover price at Midtown. They appear to be limited to 1 per customer even though the site doesn’t mention that.

    1. Is anything ever going to come from the series? Descender #1 jumped to $10, sold out and pulled in a bunch of subscribers on the promise of a movie to come. Now it’s down under $7 over 4 years later with no news of the movie we’ve been waiting for. Ascender’s down to one carry over subscriber that started back at Descender 1. Even I had to drop Descender after the first dozen or so issues. The story was still okay but the art was too distracting.

Still hoping for that big movie to come out with a feel that Battlestar Galactica, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Reavers and the little robot from A.I. just got jammed into an action packed blockbuster with Marvels Celestials as the big bad.

      1. I loved the art. The water color style was awesome. Sadly, like many options, they expire after a while. It was attached to Sony which was a good sign but not sure they still hold the option.

    2. THIS WEEK’S GAME-CHANGING
WALKING DEAD #191 RUSHED BACK TO PRINT
PORTLAND, OR 05/02/2019 — Image Comics/Skybound Entertainment has fast-tracked The Walking Dead #191 by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard for a second printing in order to keep up with customer demand for this game-changing installment of the long-running series.

The Walking Dead #191 hit stores on Wednesday and took fans by surprise with a shocking cliffhanger that’s had everyone talking. In this issue, alliances are broken and all the trouble that’s been brewing in the Commonwealth finally comes to a head.

The Walking Dead #191 second printing (Diamond Code MAR198752) will hit stores on Wednesday, May 29. The final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, May 6.

        1. Haven’t made it to new posts yet, I’m into an hour and a half just clearing the CHUmails from the inbox so far.

          1. There are options that you can choose so that you are not inundated with reply emails, BJ.

            1. I wanted to get the e-mails so I don’t miss anything. I just worked thru the e-mails first before coming to CHU directly and unusually there was an IMAGE e-mail in the middle of the night mixed in the herd. The frustrating part is wasting over an hour trying to get a simple list of the Immortal Hulk comics together to show all variants and printings from diamond so far and it’s still not displaying right. Copy search results at diamond, paste on one text document, clean up, copy paste to another to remove some more space, etc..

A simple search of Immortal Hulk #1 at diamond will not even bring all the reprintings into the results and has all the defenders Immortal Hulks mixed in to be edited out.

I read e-mail, if something sounds talkable I hit the reply button, repeat until the inbox is empty. Check hogshaven for Redskin news, check Facebook, check Diamond for new items to order on todays list, then pop over to CHU to read. Mix in packing any orders and shipping as well as relisting anything that needed another copy up and it’s life on a hamster wheel one day at a time but they all start to look alike. I’m pretty sure I already made the donuts!!!!!

                1. Reading CHU when I should be reading Uncanny X-Men 17 and several others still in this week’s stack. 🙂

I like having the ability to talk and speak freely without feeling I have to kiss everyone’s arse as a potential customer. The ability to call stupid stupid occasionally even if it offends the stupid.

If I’m not trying to get you to buy my copy I feel like it’s a little more honest in weight of comment.

That being said if you want I can slap DCYOTV covers up that take all the guessing out of it. I’m probably trying too hard to help here others anyway when I should be doing other stuff store related or trying to get out of the 80’s reading Iron Man. It’s been a nice change of pace though to actually have people to talk to. In the real world all I see are people I can’t say anything to about what I’m interested in or excited about since I’ve already read it and they haven’t. By the time they come back, I’m already a week or two down the road excited about what happens next and can’t discuss that either.

  30. I noticed the icon on my iPhone form CHU has a flame graphic!! Is that new?

Also looking forward to spoilers for FCBD! I need to pick up anything that’s a new series debuting in hopes of it turning into the next Umbrella Academy!

    1. That ship has already sailed for many issues.

Some titles will still be available at diamond right now to order copies that aren’t stickered or store stamped with advertising but those you need to figure out in January to order and guarantee availability without advertising. I’m shipping 4 copies of all the Silvers plus 4 of all the Gold’s that we ordered to one customer Monday which is taking 2 Regional rate B boxes to hold them all. Monday’s the earliest they can be shipped without violating diamonds policy on them. Not sure what the enforcement arm of Diamond can actually do about that but not interested in testing the water either.

  31. Picked up my pulls from the LCS. Walking Dead #191 was sold out, Adventures of the Super Sons #10 was down to one copy (probably not heavily ordered, though). Plenty of DC YOTV main cover. The Marvel table seemed pretty full, so it didn’t appear that anything was sold out. The LCS has a 75% off sale on vintage/older books, so I’ll have to take a look at those books on another trip.

    The pull:
