Throwback Thursday

This one is just in time for the latest news coming out of the Krypton television show on SyFy.

Way back in June of 1983, Lobo made his first appearance Omega Men #3.

Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo is short for Zhariff Lobo, born on the planet Czarnia.

He is a mercenary and bounty hunter with superhuman strength, speed and other senses. Lobo is considered a genius on the intellectual level while also possessing regeneration abilities and is immortal.

The original intent of Lobo was to parody Marvel’s gritty characters, Wolverine and Punisher to name a few.

Originally cast as a villain, he’s played many roles with a lot of different team affiliations including the Suicide Squad, L.E.G.I.O.N., Young Justice and even Justice League of America to name a few.

With a new solo show coming, his first appearance could heat up as it’s still pretty affordable. I guess we’ll have to see how the show’s welcoming fanfare reacts but if you can find them cheap, it’s worth the gamble. It’s still a key book out of the many DC colorful characters.
