Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for June 26, 2019:
Doing things a little different this week. Don’t see a huge batch of spec books this week but definitely some coo pick ups. Here is what I am looking at this week.
DC Picks
Action Comics #1012 Ben Oliver Cover – Great portrait of Superman, Killer B cover at it’s finest.
Batman Beyond #33 Kaare Andrews Cover – Cool Batman Beyond cover.
Detective Comics #1006 Dan Quintana Cover – Awesome looking white Batman cover.
Batman Damned #3 – Series finally gets its conclusion excited to see what secrets lurk in it.
Indy Picks
Crow Hack Slash #1 – the slasher hunter vs. the undead vigilante. This is book is pure fan service and I cannot wait to read it.
Amped #1 – kicks off the Red Giant superhero line that was first introduced by White Widow. If this holds a fraction of the attention Widow got initially it could be a good pick up.
At The End Of Your Tether #1 Another Place Another Time – has a great concept and looking forward to this as a reader. But, small press book with a small print run could pop if it gets enough attention.
Road Of Bones #2 – prisoners escape a russian camp only to find life to be harsher on the outside than on the in. Issue 1 was a good read and did well on ebay for a while. Issue 1 is getting reprinted this week
Marvel Picks
Amazing Spider-Man #24 – starts a storyline looking into the mystery bandaged character that first appeared in the early issues of this run.
Major X #6 – states it will give the full identity of Major X himself. We know Cable is his father and Storm is his mother, so it will be interesting to see what comes out of this issue.
Spider-Man Featuring Spider-Ham Annual #1 – features a new Anthropomorphic character called Meows Morales and if Marvel ends up using him in a Spider-verse movie, this issue could blow up
Wolverine Exit Wounds #1 – features a stellar line up of creators on the character, including Sam Keith. Looking forward to this one.
Canto #1 and Samurai Grandpa #1 are my indie picks of the week
That Action 1012 is a great issue. Love the Campbell A cover & the interiors by Kudranski..just wow.
Story is great as well. Love Rose/Thorn.
My fav book of the week.
Silencer 18 final issue also has a great cover/great wrap up! I enjoyed the series.
Rose and thorn are awesome in the issue but not sure everyone will know who they are. The 2004 miniseries had awesome covers by Adam Hughes
