Happy 4th of July Everyone.
Since Covrprice.com came on the scene, they have become a go to spot for watching eBaytrends on comics. They scour thousands of eBay sales to cultivate data to spotlight the hottest selling comics. Here is this week’s Top Ten Comics: (Please note, potential spoilers do follow)
#1 Marvel Comics Presents #6 (Marvel, 2019) New characters can REALLY sell books lately. The reveal of Wolverine’s daughter in this issue sold a massive 396 copies this week, had a 7-day trend of 770% and had a high raw sale of $75. This 396 sales is a record for COVRPRICE. As successful as BATMAN: DAMNED #1 was, it still only hit around 250 copies in one week. So, this amount of market movement (for what should have been a hard to find book) was rather exceptional.
#2 Canto #1 (IDW, 2019) was the surprise hit of the week. A cute/fun story with great art helped sell 126 copies, had a 7-day trend of 479% and had a high sale of $80 for a CGC 9.8. Widespread damages of this comic were reported by retailers making high-grade copies harder to find. With this as a mini-series, can the heat last?
#3 Marvel Comics Presents #5 (Marvel, 2019) Wolvie’s daughter appears in two panels and narrates the story. Collectors went for #5… just in case. It sold 110 copies, had a 7-day trend of 422% and had a high raw sale of $30.
#4 Canto #1 Robles Variant (IDW, 2019) Like we mentioned above, a fun story and great art can really help drive sales. Who knew! Forty copies of this hard to find variant sold. It had a 7-day trend of 295% and had a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8.
#5 Silver Surfer Black #1 2nd Print (Marvel, 2019) Having Knull on the cover sold 62 copies, had a 7-day trend of 107% and had a high sale of $160 for a CGC 9.8. (Find on eBay)
#6 The Omega Men #3 (DC, 1983) The first appearance of the ‘Main Man’ sold 44 copies, had a 7-day trend of 105% and had a high sale of $300 for a CGC 9.8.
#7 Inhumans #5 (Marvel, 1999) features the first appearance of Yelena Belova, who will be playing the Black Widow in the MCU film of the same name. It sold 32 copies, had a 7-day trend of 151% and had a high sale of $203 for a CGC 9.6.
#8 Batman Damned #1 (DC, 2018) It’s baaaaack. Batman: Damned #3 made collectors chase this first issue. It sold 35 copies, had a 7-day trend of 116% and had a high sale of $300 for a CGC 10.0.
#9 The Incredible Hulk #181 (Marvel, 1974) The first full appearance of Wolverine is a steady seller week after week with 33 copies sold, had a 7-day trend of 117% and had a high sale of $7,300 for a CGC 9.2. This book has no limits at this point.
#10 Venom #3 3rd Print (Marvel, 2018) We just gave one of these away. Knull covers two spots. Granted, his appearance in Silver Surfer Black helped bring back these sales. It sold 29 copies, had a 7-day trend of 142% and had a high sale of $150 for a CGC 9.8.
Runners-Up to follow
so walking dead s#191-193 are not on the list?w.t.f.?w.t.f.?why is t.w.d. not on the list?love you guys blind adam out
The list is a week behind. WD193, ZT61, and turtles will all be on next week’s list.
Haven’t we explained this all before?
If a book is released on Wednesday, they don’t have enough stats a day later and since I do believe these Covrprice lists are compiled before Wednesdays as well..
I might suggest throwing a disclamer in the recurring heading. At least changing the name to “Last” weeks Top 10 to avoid some of the confusion.
That goes for “Last” week’s runners up as well in case someone reads one but not the other.
It’s CovrPrice lists though and I would imagine common sense prevails when it comes to these lists that they’re not including Wednesdays latest..
I would think so as well but every week someone you hear from doesn’t realize this and who knows how many reading but not speaking are thinking the same thing.
“CovrPrice.com Top Ten Selling Comics for Week of 7/5/19”
The title you’re using clearly says 7/5/19. That implies right now aka today.
CovrPrice.com Top Ten Selling Comics for last week.
How about

You could even thro a date range if you want in
“Common sense prevails”….hahahahha!!!
Good one Poyo. In today’s cyber age where information is instantaneous at the touch of a screen and people believe it as fact without checking sources….people just expect things are compiled from data up to and including one second ago and error free.
Common sense ….bwahhaahahah…can’t stop laughing… ?
That being said, I like BJs suggestion….at least when someone asks the question you can point out the disclaimer and then call them a dum bass.
Or if you want to play “good cop” the rest of us will pile on! ?
that makes sense ..cover price doesn’t work well with a text reader so I barley use it .great site though.blind adam out
I’m not confused in the least .. we may want data to be instantaneous, however, the Trend Market takes time to compile ..
Leave it like it is and Thank You ..
Thank you sir.
Uncle Willie, you’re a professional and supposed to know these things. It’s the common folk getting confused and annoying Po asking him to explain over and over again every week..
“Haven’t we explained this all before?”
That’s Po’s being tired of explaining it over and over again thoughts. Easy enough to fix.
I agree. As silly as it seems to those of us in the know, a disclaimer is more for Anthony and Poyos sanity to not have to keep explaining every week than it is for us common folk!
Well, I do know these things .. 😉 .. however, I guess I don’t understand how anyone could expect the numbers to be up to the minute .. it really does boil down to Common Sense .. if you believe a revision is needed in this Column, it’s a valid opinion .. I just don’t share it ..
I take it you were born prior to the mid 1990’s…?
1944, to be exact .. 🙂
Only a couple of years before.
We put the dates in the title so when we look back we know the week it was posted. The data is always the week prior since Covrprice actual compiles the data and list before Wednesday. I dont subscribe to Covrprice but I do believe paying customers get this list on Monday, Anthony has a deal with CP to post these on Thursdays.
Pretty much what Poyo said. I run the list on Thursday but have access to the top 10 early. I actually usually get the runners up before the email is released. Things take time, so the runners up don’t always hit as soon as possible. But I do have a deal in place to provide the list to non-subscribers on a set day. I think that is pretty fair. As for a disclaimer, sure, it’s easy enough to copy and paste one. The top 10 list is a static snapshot while their movers and shakers list changes from day to day. I cannot keep up with those lists for purposes of publishing as it is just too much data to transfer.
I actually didn’t put “First Printing” on a WD193 listing so it took two replies that the Second Printing wasn’t available until July 31st, would probably have “SECOND PRINTING” written on the cover like they did with 191 and 192’s Second Printing and after buying and me shipping immediately I still got a 3rd question from the guy asking if I’d shipped a 1st Printing. Seriously, I’ve already told you, no one can have the Second Printing prior to the 31st to ship and it will look different than the scans of the book you did buy labelsed as scans of actual book shipping. Some people need that little extra reassurance and clarity. While I don’t want to have the same conversation 300+ more times about the same book over the next 3 weeks so all sales will now say 1st Printing. 😉
The second print has different color lettering and says “The End” on the cover instead of “The Farmhouse”
Yes, at the time I was color blind to the writing part it seems but had visually picked out and mentioned the addition of “SECOND PRINTING” added below the price. I also bagged and board all new comics so the bag creating glare doesn’t help the eyes any either. Blindness is just one of the fun parts of getting older like asking mommy for a ride to DMV to take the written and driving tests again at 50 after the new glasses arrived.
The key is to shame the crap out of audience that will teach those inquisitive monsters.
