Final Order Cut-Off Highlights for 8/26/19

Final Order Cut-Off is the last day that shops can guarantee their orders for comics. After Final Order Cut-Off, or FOC, these books will only be available to retailers on Advance Reorder. And that is not guaranteed. So here are the highlights for Monday, 8/26/19’s FOC list.

MARVEL
ABSOLUTE CARNAGE #3 CHRISTOPHER ACTION FIGURE VAR – So Marvel has this one as “classified” Could it be Dylan in a new form? Of course this is speculation.

ABSOLUTE CARNAGE #3 LARRAZ YOUNG GUNS VAR – Same as above, another “classified”cover.

ABSOLUTE CARNAGE LETHAL PROTECTORS #2 – We know we get a new Hobgoblin this issue. Not the first cover appearance but first full?

DAREDEVIL #181 FACSIMILE EDITION – Classic Frank Miller goodness. Reprinted in its entirety.

IMMORTAL HULK #24 – First series winding down. These issues could be crazy, it is a can’t miss series.

SPIDER-MAN #1 – New Spider-man book by J. J. Abrams. We previously mentioned the Die Cut cover, but also check out the Dell Otto Ratio Variant.

DC
BATMAN #79 – Final chapter in the City of Bane story line.

FLASH FORWARD #1 INHYUK LEE VARIANT – Lee is on fire right now. New book coming out of Heroes in Crisis.

HARLEEN #1 – Black Label Harley story, heard not so much spec but a good read.

SUPERGIRL #34 CARD STOCK VAR ED YOTV – Warren Louw covers are awesome.

Image/INDY
ONCE & FUTURE #1 5TH PRINTING – the book was crazy good and already going to a fifth print, four prints before the first book even came out. This will probably have the largest print run of them all.

SOMETHING IS KILLING CHILDREN #1 3RD PRINTING – another hot new book going back for a reprint before the first issue comes out.

VAMPIRELLA #3 – Regular by J Scott Campbell is pretty sweet. He has his fans.

RED SONJA BIRTH OF SHE DEVIL #4 CVR A PARRILLO – Parillo has a growing fan base and these covers are pretty awesome.

YOU ARE OBSOLETE #1 – cool looking new Aftershock series. Written by Mathew Klickstein (Sony Pictures’ Against the Dark- Slimed!- Springfield Confidential- Selling Nostalgia)

    1. Supergirl 34’s cover (Hello Kitty) was moved up and used to replace the solicited cover for Supergirl 33 already and was shipped with the copies that were supposed to be destroyed and will be again with the replacement copies. The cover they actually ship for 34 could be anything although I’m hoping it’s finally the birdie cover that was promised for 33 originally.

  1. Just a suggestion that I would like this series better if it included cover images. Maybe thumbnail size is enough.

  2. So if this was FOC for yesterday am I still able to put orders in? Maybe note in your article that this was posted late.

  3. Final Order Cutoff is the last time stores can be 100% sure they can order a comic but frequently about two weeks after FOC back orders will start to be accepted and sometimes additional copies show up the week the packers start filling the boxes to ship. It’s even possible some copies will become available for open order or filling back orders after the shipping date especially if damages are light. I’ve managed to get about 4 late variant requests approved by Diamond in the last couple months also so there’s always a chance.

In addition, even though it’s the last time we can order from Diamond directly and be sure, we frequently accept late orders from customers filling with additional stock we over ordered for the shelf assuming it’s presale or a subscription type situation. I sold the last 7 HOX and POX in a Presale last Friday at cover plus B&B knowing the books will probably have one or more of those 7 issues jump in price.

I would think moving this list to Friday afternoon or Saturday morning would be useful though since that puts the info in peoples hands before they hit the stores for the weekend so they have time to act on it. diamond has the FOC list finalized about noon on Fridays.

In some cases FOC is already too late. Some items occasionally can only be ordered as part of the Initial orders comic stores submit.

This article has a number of interesting quotes from big names on the topic of preordering and subscribing. https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/08/27/fanboy-rampage-whose-job-is-it-to-sell-comics-anyway/

  4. Harleen I also didn’t see anything spec but that was a lot of in depth reading. If you’re a fan of Harley and Joker it’s a must have. It appears set to redefine their original meetings and events that lead to their relationship. I may have spent over an hour reading the advance PDF. Keep in mind it’s a Black Label oversized issue that will need magazine sized boards and bags and if you’re not picking up in person, additional shipping from some sources since it will not fit in flat rate shipping envelopes.

    1. Is there a way to tell which BL books will be regular size and which are oversized when theyre solicited/before shipping?
I kept worrying what size Curse of the White Knight would be. My LCS didnt know.
I like the artist on Harleen. But if its oversized ill just wait for the collection
