Covrprice.com Runners-Up for 8/31/19

As promised, the Runners-Up list, think of these as the second part of the Top 20. Now then, on to #11-20.

#11 House of X #2 – (Marvel, 2019) House of X is selling insanely well. #3’s were sold out at most shops early on Wed. Online, it sold 93 copies, had a 7-day trend of 107% and had a high raw sale of $26.

#12 Powers of X #2 – (Marvel, 2019) Ditto to House of X above. It sold 49 copies, had a 7-day trend of 124% and had a high raw sale of $22.

#13 Nova #1 –  (Marvel, 1976) Oh Russo brothers! During an interview, they answered a fan question to whether NOVA would appear in the MCU in the near future. Joe Russo responded in reference to ENDGAME with “Look closely at that scene again, and you will see… You will see Richard Rider in the background of a shot. Easter egg,” Joe Russo said this with no hint of a joke. Yet, shortly after, they responded to all the excitement with “That was actually a joke on our part.” Hilarious. Maybe not to the person who paid $1,250 for a CGC 9.8 of Nova #1 upon this news. It had a big effect on sales and helped sell 52 copies, have a 7-day trend of 111%.

#14 Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends #1 Newsstand – (Marvel, 1981) Another OOPS. Disney Jr. announced a show with the same name with no connection to this original 1980’s animated series. The new series will feature Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Gwen Stacy as Ghost-Spider. Still, this news sold 46 copies, had a 7-day trend of 129% and had a high sale of $358 for a CGC 9.8.

#15 Werewolf by Night #32 – (Marvel, 1975) We were surprised that this didn’t crack the TOP 10. Other books had bigger trends. This was a front-running rumor from SDCC, so this already had some momentum. It sold 26 copies, had a 7-day trend of 219% and had a high sale of $5,990 for a CGC 9.4.

#16 Marvel Spotlight #28 – (Marvel, 1976) This 1st Moon Knight solo issue sold 45 copies, had a 7-day trend of 125% and had a high sale of $1,150 for a CGC 9.8 (which can’t touch the all-time high sale of $4k back in November 2017).

#17 Powers of X #3 Silva Variant– (Marvel, 2019) X-titles are hot. It excelled at selling 41 copies, had an excellent 7-day trend of 136% and had an exquisite high raw sale of $29. (Find on eBay) (Find on MCS)

#18 Dead End Kids #1 – (Source Point Press, 2019) Dead End Kids is holding well. #2 is also doing fantastic. #1 sold 61 copies, had a 7-day trend of 85% and had a high sale of $140 for a CGC 9.8. (Find on eBay) (Find on MCS)

#19 Once & Future #1 – (Boom! Studios, 2019) is also a title still doing well… leading into a successful market value for the 2nd print. This first print. sold 55 copies, had a 7-day trend of 89% and had a high raw sale of $41. (Find on eBay)

#20 Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 – (Marvel, 2015) Wow, Moon Girl just barely made it into the Top 20. However, animated projects don’t tend to excite collectors all that much. This especially seems to be marketed at a younger audience. It sold 27 copies, had a 7-day trend of 180% and had a high sale of $180 for a CGC 9.8.

  1. Could you imagine paying 4x the going rate from last year for a 9.8 1st Nova just be told it was a joke? That should deter from some FOMO purchases in the future.

    1. People are not paying attention.

Some goes for Spider-Man and his amazing friends….although that one is not a joke,.xplicitly stated the new series is not the same characters aside from Spidey.

    2. I picked up Nova 1-15 not long ago pretty cheap. Glad I didn’t wait on it. Nova will be in MCU, hell, the Nova Corp has been so it is not a big stretch.

  2. I sometimes feel bad selling FOMO stuff in my collection. It’s like capitalizing on poor souls who cant control themselves. I’m sorry – nahhhhh…. not sorry. 🙂

    1. y’know..sometimes I think about that too but then I realize every now and then I am also guilty of falling for the whole FOMO on books I didn’t get in on soon enough. It’s all part of the game. Those who buy from you are big enough to decide if they really want a book or not. If they decide to pay your price that’s their choice. I’ve enjoyed most of the books I purchased for my pc with FOMO desperation. A small handful I probably should have waited, but what can ya do. Overall I’ve made far more good choices than bad. Again, part of the game.

      1. I myself have almost fallen into the FOMO trap a few times. I think its that rush and impulse to own whats hot if you dont already have it.
