  1. 4 copies of the same book came from TFAW with about 1/2 inch sliced off the right side of all pages. Looked like someone used a paper cutter at an odd angle and cut from top to bottom. Anyone ever heard of something like this? Haven’t heard back from them regarding it yet…

  2. Had some cool pick ups this week. Evil Ernie 2-5 NM missed out on the #1, but then I got marvel spotlight 5-11 and ghost rider #1 all in very decent shape for the price. 🙂 merry Christmas to me!

      1. She’s not taking off like some might of expected. She’s a long term hold and gamble I think. She ever makes it in the movies, people will seek these out.

      1. And Smallville too. Also a glimpse of the Titans, fingers crossed Doom Patrol and Swampie show up in the next two episodes.

  3. Picking up this week:
    Five Years 6
    Goon 7
    Rat Queens 20

    Picked up:
Absolute Swamp Thing. I was hoping it would be leather bound like the Absolute Sandman, but the cover is moss-textured instead.

    Notes:
I was able to snag two pre-sale tickets to see Paul Reubens (Pee-wee Herman) next February. Valentine’s Day.

This week, I’m again seeing the synth-wave band, Magic Sword. I highly recommend a listen of their first album, Volume 1. It sounds like the soundtrack to 80’s TV shows and movies imbued with a heroic fantasy story. Their cds come with comic books. Think music to Buckaroo Banzai, Blade Runner, Time Bandits, or any number of John Carpenter movies. At times, they sound like Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder, John Carpenter/Alan Howarth, Tangerine Dream, and Jean Michel Jarre all crossed with Daft Punk.

I’m really enjoying Watchmen on HBO.

    1. I watched the first three episodes of Watchmen and thought it was different but good. Loved the raining squid. My HBO preview ended so need to wait for the next free weekend.

    2. The I Like Comics Image Comics Partners Signing (Kirkman, Larsen, McFarlane, Silvestri, Stephenson, and Valentino) was postponed due to flu.

  4. the c.w. crisis was epic.anit spoling it but I will review it on my podcast. picking up tmnt #100,captain marvel 13,harley quinn villian of the year #1 I also scored a first wave #1 photo cover and will be walking around the big apple comic-con doing interviews, handing out flyers&buying stuff for the holidays and stocking up for resale and rick and morty is amazing loved the last four episodes picked up the toxic rick drink.haven’t tried it yet .love you all blind adam out

  5. Had a great experience at a store this week, but it could’ve gone the other way. They had gotten a bunch of ASM books from a private collection and put them in their case. Prices were okay on some so I picked up #38, #97, and #252 (newsstand). The cool part is that this month Spider-Man books are bogo so I only paid $60 for all 3 ($30, $5, and $25 respectively). When I got them home, I found that the back cover of #38 was all marked up (I didn’t take it out at the store). Even for $30, I wasn’t happy with the condition so I went back.

The comic manager told me that they couldn’t do a return because he couldn’t prove that it didn’t happen after the book left the store. I was pretty frustrated, but he said he could give me a discount on another book to help. I agreed and went to the case to pick out another ASM issue, but they were all gone. He told me the store manager didn’t realize spiderman books were bogo when he put them in the case so he had pulled them to the back until the sale ended. It’s the store’s prerogative to do as they please, but I was even more frustrated. The comic mgr went above and beyond at this point and went and got the books out of the back and let me pick through them! The higher value books were all marked and written on the front covers so I grabbed #131, an extra copy of 347 (newsstand), and #25 (vol. 2) non-glitter.

The comic mgr took me to register and then gave me a discount like he promised. The store didn’t really suffer and he was able to satisfy someone who shops there weekly.

    1. If you shop there weekly they should know your face and refunded the book out of trust.

But I’m glad they made it right to your satisfaction. That shows they wanted to keep you as a loyal customer.
