Flashback Friday

A year ago, we spec’d on new books hitting the shelves. Now it’s time to see what books from a year ago are doing now on the secondary and direct market.

Also, don’t forget to wish Anthony a Happy Birthday over in the forums.

We already covered the first 2 Wednesdays of April 2019, so let’s cover the next two which fell on the 17th and 24th of last year.

But first, the top ten selling books from those two weeks:

Batman #69 Released: 04/17/19 – 88,666
Thanos #1 Released: 04/24/19 – 81,356
Heroes In Crisis #8 Released: 04/24/19 – 79,512
Amazing Spider-Man #20 Released: 04/24/19 – 76,903
War of Realms #2 Released: 04/17/19 – 70,704
Detective Comics #1002 Released: 04/24/19 – 61,007
Justice League #22 Released: 04/17/19 – 56,094
Avengers #18 Released: 04/24/19 – 55,244
Venom #13 Released: 04/24/19 – 52,114
Amazing Spider-Man #19.HU Released: 04/17/19 – 51,836

Meet the Skrulls #1 had a 2nd print hit shelves and this one might of been a bit harder for some to find, if they intended on picking up.

Most listings are around the $12 range and the most recent sold listing went for that price as well. Another one in early February went for $6.99. Then a set sold for around $15 that included other Skrull issues.

So if you’re looking to list, might want to hold. There are plenty of listings but not a lot of action in the sold category.

This next book I’m only mentioning because I found that Midtown has them in stock but raw copies for $25, when sold listings for CGC 9.8 have recently sold for $20. WTF? That book is Naomi #4.

Perfect example of when a shop should adjust their prices..  and yes, that means sometimes you have to lower them. The secondary market isn’t a one way street!

Star Wars TIE Fighter #1 saw some love with it’s 1:25 character variant last year. It’s still around a $12 book. Listings still in that ballpark range.

Anyone recall seeking out the War of the Realms War Scrolls #1 Sorrentino variant? Pretty slick cover art which I sort of recall hitting the $10 to $20 range at one point.

Hope you didn’t pay too much, it’s around cover price or just a few bucks over cover nowadays. A recent 9.8 CGC went for a cool $29.99. Maybe Anthony will spotlight it in his Cheap Slabs Posts.

Another Amber Blake Nodet cover was all the rave last year. Sales were initially reaching the $100 mark at one time.

None in the past 60 days have sold. One listing still has their’s available for BIN $54.99.

Ghost Tree #1 not only saw a little bit of love on the secondary market last year but it was an fantastic read as well. This one had a pretty small print/sales run at just 4,847 units.

Things have settled since last year when this was reaching between $10 and $20 as most solds are around cover price to a few bucks over cover on a good day. Seems sets sell decent if you need to dump these off though, issues 1-4 seem to sell relatively easy at the $20 range. Not a lot of profit but hey, it’s money profit if you got your entertainment out of reading them.

With the attraction opening up at Disney, this variant saw some love with Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge #1 Lim Attraction Variant.

This one is an odd one now though, a recent sold went for around $15 while many others were anywhere between a few bucks (even under cover) to $6 range.
