As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. Think of this as the second half of the top 20.
#11 WOLVERINE #4 (MARVEL, 1982) During the new release lull, collectors went looking for classic key issues. This first Wolverine series is just that. It sold 10 copies, had a 7-day trend of 213% and had a HUGE sale of $400 for a CGC 9.8. Keep in mind that before March, this book used to sell for $150 in a 9.8.
#12 THE ETERNALS #18 (MARVEL, 1977) This issue features the first appearance of the Celestial, Ziran the Tester. With ETERNALS as the first MCU Phase 4 film, speculation continues on which additional characters will appear. We have seen that the Celestials will play a big role, so this appearance seems possible. It sold 13 copies, had a 7-day trend of162% and had a high sale of $145 for a CGC 9.6.
#13 STAR WARS #41 (MARVEL, 1980) We’re not exactly sure WHY this is moving. It is part 3 of the Empire Strikes Back adaptation. Also, while it’s not noted by CGC, this issue is the first appearance of Yoda (in shadow). It sold 14 copies, had a 7-day trend of 149% and had a high sale of $179 for a CGC 9.8.
#14 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #300 (MARVEL, 1988) The first appearance of Venom is ramping up as we get closer to VENOM 2: LET THERE BE CARNAGE. It sold 15 copies, had a 7-day trend of 130% and had a high sale of $946.56 for a high-grade raw copy.
#15 VENOM LETHAL PROTECTOR #1 (MARVEL, 1980) In the eternal words of Patrick Swayze in GHOST: “Ditto” to the above #14. It sold 12 copies, had a 7-day trend of 147% and had a high sale of $75 for a CGC 9.8.
#16 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #4 (MARVEL, 2014) Thanks to a content reminder from Deadline a couple of weeks ago, the first appearance of Cindy Moon as Silk is still moving copies. There were 16 copies sold, had a 7-day trend of 104% and a high sale of $195 for a CGC 9.8.
#17 MARVEL ACTION AVENGERS #9 (MARVEL, 2020) “Yellow” Hulk had a brief cameo in this issue. So, if #10 is going to sell, then this one is going to as well. It sold 16 copies, had a 7-day trend of 95% and had a high sale of $20 for a raw copy.
#18 X-MEN #4 (MARVEL, 1992) Omega Red continues to be rumored to be “the first Fox mutant” introduced into the MCU (we say this as we’re not sure if Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be considered as mutants in the future). His first appearance sold 13 copies, had a 7-day trend of 117% and had a high sale of $149 for a CGC 9.8.
#19 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #5 (MARVEL, 2014) With the first appearance spiking in price, collectors are beginning to invest in Silk’s 2nd appearance in this issue. It sold 11 copies, had a 7-day trend of 133% and had a high sale of $25 for a NM raw copy.
#20 BATMAN VENGEANCE OF BANE #1 (DC, 1992) There are a few sites speculating that BANE (like JOKER) will have his own solo film. There are also rumors that he will play a large role in the future of DC films. This news has started a fire under his first appearance in this issue. It sold 10 copies, had a 7-day trend of 141% and had a high sale of $310.50 for a CGC 9.8. These were selling for $200 in 9.8 back in March.
Next week…peter Parker 49!
