Final Order Cut-Off Highlights for 8/17/20

Final Order Cut-Off is the last day that shops can guarantee their orders for comics. After Final Order Cut-Off, or FOC, these books will only be available to retailers on Advance Reorder. And that is not guaranteed. So here are the highlights for Monday, 8/19/20’s FOC list.

This week is all about the reprints.

Marvel
CAPTAIN MARVEL #21 SPOILER VAR – The rise and fall of the Supreme Accuser. The end of a war, the end of an ERA…and the birth of an even more dangerous world. Carol Danvers must make a choice that will define her life and the lives of those closest to her.

RISE OF ULTRAMAN #1 – Sweet! Ultraman returns to American comics. Several covers.

STAR #5 ANKA FORESHADOW VARIANT – I just like this cover.

STRANGE ACADEMY #2 3RD PTG – Second issue gets a third print.

THOR #1 3RD PTG – great character design on the cover.

THOR #3 4TH – Thor vs Beta Ray Bill on this reprint cover.

THOR #4 3RD PTG – More Cates Thor reprint goodness.

STAR WARS BOUNTY HUNTERS #1 3RD PTG

WEB OF VENOM WRAITH #1 – The origin of Wraith revealed, as is his ties to Knull

DC
BATMAN THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE #2 2ND PTG

BATMAN #90 3RD PTG – Black and white cover, looks great.

DETECTIVE COMICS #1027 – the 1000 appearance of Batman in Detective Comics. Great covers.

SUPERMAN #25 – New Character, first appearance of Synmar.

INDY

BILL & TED ARE DOOMED #1 – Bill and Ted are returning to movies, and comics. Evan Dorkin did the covers on the previous Marvel series. Great to see him back on this series.

BLACKWOOD MOURNING AFTER #4 ANDY FISH CVR – Great series, the Momoko cover did great, this is just an awesome cover.

HEAVY #1 – New Vault series. Heavy is The Punisher for neurotics; Inception for the impatient; Preacher for… well, it’s a lot like Preacher.

ICE CREAM MAN PRESENTS QUARANTINE COMIX SPEC #1 – In the early days of the pandemic, the team behind ICE CREAM MAN launched an online-only series of mini-comics set in the ICM universe. The project was called, predictably, QUARANTINE COMIX. These strange little ditties were meant to tide folks over while the industry was on pause-and also raise money for struggling comic shops, with 50 percent of all proceeds donated to Comicbook United Fund/BINC.

  1. Wouldn’t it be his 1,001st appearance? It’s why the 1027 issue seems silly to me. We went lighter on this issue than any of the recent big round numbers, like Action 1000, Tec 1000, Flash 750, and so on. I had zero buzz from any of my customers excited about it. Seemed like even more of a forced gimmick than normal.

Now watch, there will be some key first appearance and three years from now it’s $200.
