Greetings my Comics Heating Up family. Hope you are well and safe. Wow, August is almost over? DC Fandom was cool, did you catch any of it? Going to keep this short and sweet. Now lets make the money with some comics cause you can’t teach that
1. X-Men Firsts One Shot – there is a whole lot of firsts in this books. Rogue, Gambit, Mr Sinister, and Wolverine. Funny thing is they have Wolverine’s first appearance as Incredible Bulk #181, which they have been saying 180 a lot lately. A lot of 1996 goodness wrapped in a Tim Sale Cover #awesomesauce
2. Amazing Adult Fantasy #14 – early Mutant story predating X-Men. Last issue of Amazing Adult Fantasy before it becomes Amazing Fantasy for one throw away issue. Spider-man, he will never stick around. Anyway, The story The Man in the Sky is about a man who can fly thanks to his dad absorbing radiation and then being contacted telepathically by a bald man telling him to join other Mutants like himself. X-men debuted a year later. I love Marvel prototype issues. Buy the grade you can afford.
3. Spider-man Legend of the Spider Clan #1 – I love this book. I cannot remember if I have talked about it before or not. But this book is early Skottie Young, and people love his work. The estimated sales were around 35,000, but I bet many people didn’t keep the Marvel Manga books in good shape, or even bought them. I can see them having ended up in dollar bins years ago.
4. Archie’s Joke Book #93 – This is an infamous innuendo cover. Hey it was the 1970s and would you expect less from the NSFW master Blind
Adam? Well the cover aside, this is the first appearance of Janis Joplin in comic books. From the singer this is just awesomesauce and a must for collectors of popular music or for the Archie innuendo covers, like myself. Riverdale is coming back and Riverdale is amazing $40 and up.
5. Batman Onstar #1 – besides me, who was a fan of the classic Batmobile Onstar ads? I never realized they did a promo comic for Onstar. I don’t know the print run but I know this belongs in a Batman collection
happy hunting $25
6. Thor #193 – Thor vs Silver Surfer. Everyone knows that Silver Surfer #4 is a classic, well, the second battle between the God of Thunder and the Sentinel of the Spaceways is a undervalued classic as well. Cheap in low grades, but I can’t wait for one day on the screen we see this fight happy hunting
7. Ultimate Fantastic Four #21 – wow spoiler warning, I repeat spoiler warning if you haven’t read Thor #6 stop reading hidden gems and go read it. Holy crap Thanos, the Marvel Zombies, a Mjolnir with the Infinity stones in it. Hot damn, well it looks as Sir Cates, the dollar box whisper, has plans for the Marvel Zombies. The GOAT of comic book writing, the modern day Stan Lee, Mark Millar created the Marvel Zombies in this Ultimate Fantastic Four issue $10 and up
Thats it for me. Just felling tired and upset. If you can keep me in your prayers, it would be amazing.
Blind Adam out.
