Covrprice.com Top Ten for Week Ending 9/4/20

Since Covrprice.com  came on the scene, they have become a go to spot for watching eBaytrends on comics. They scour thousands of eBay sales to cultivate data to spotlight the hottest selling comics. Here is this week’s Top Ten Comics: (Please note, potential spoilers do follow, and, these results are for auction that closed last week. )

#1 BATMAN THREE JOKERS #1 FABOK 1:25 (DC, 2020) Wow, did this book move. It may not be shaking the market in value but this uber green cover sold 102 copies, had a 7-day trend of 93% and had a high raw sale of $38.

#2 SUPERMAN #4 (DC, 1986) During DC’s Fandome, there was a character spotlight teaser that revealed Idris Elba as the character BLOODSPORT, who first appeared in this issue. The market jumped ALL over this and moved 56 copies, had a 7-day trend of 144% and had a high raw sale of $47. Now, keep in mind, the books connected to SUICIDE SQUAD 1 dropped hard shortly before the film’s release. If you’re looking for a cheap copy, these are out there in the wild.

#3 SPAWN #309 (IMAGE, 2020) While a McFarlane cover will always win over other Spawn covers, this Frazetta Deathdealer homage is just awesome and sold 50 copies, had a 7-day trend of 141% and had a high raw sale of $30.

#4 SPAWN #309 MCFARLANE (IMAGE, 2020) Spawn fans LOVE Gunslinger Spawn (whose first appearance is in Spawn #174) and they were ALL over this reintroduction of the character. This McFarlane cover sold 89 copies, had a 7-day trend of 58% and had a high raw sale of $41.

#5 BLACK PANTHER #1 (MARVEL, 1977) Honestly, this is just the beginning of Black Panther book heat. Like we’ve seen with other hot books, this high market interest will spill over to outlier BP books (which it already has for RISE OF THE BLACK PANTHER #1) and variants. However, compared to Shuri books, this trending first issue feels more like collectors mourning and reaching out to own a piece of Black Panther. This issue sold 31 copies, had a 7-day trend of 157% and had a high sale of $475 for a CGC 9.6.

#6 SPIDER-MAN NOIR #3 O’KEEFE 1:25 (MARVEL, 2020) With the first appearance of Spider-Man Noir hitting $700+ in a 9.8 now, there is heavy demand for this alternate version of Peter Parker. That demand spilled over to this great variant and sold 10 copies, had a 7-day trend of 441% and had a high raw sale of $70.

#7 BATMAN THREE JOKERS #1 FABOK B&W (1:100) (DC, 2020) THREE JOKERS has been talked about since 2016’s JUSTICE LEAGUE #50 when Batman asked the Morbius chair to show him the Joker’s real name and instead revealed that there have been three Jokers throughout Batman’s history. This series has been highly anticipated and the market reacted. This 1:100 variant sold 58 copies, had a 7-day trend of 75% and had a high raw sale of $153.

#8 DARK NIGHTS DEATH METAL LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHTS #1 (DC, 2020) Robin King’s first appearance debate continues to sell really, really well. It sold 53 copies, had a 7-day trend of 78% and had a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8.

#9 BATMAN DAMNED #1 (DC, 2018) He’s baaaaaackkkkk. My Comic Shop has been moving a ton of copies at $70 each, causing this book to trend once again. It’s amazing how high this still sells for raw and how low graded copies sell for. This week, it sold 21 copies, had a 7-day trend of 200% and had a high raw sale of $70.

#10 BLACK PANTHER #2 (MARVEL, 2005) As we just mentioned, Shuri books are hot. We don’t like reporting on a trend that stems from such a huge loss. However, the market’s fear of missing out is a strong machine that refuses to wait. Minutes after the news of Chadwick’s death, this first appearance of Shuri took off and sold 24 copies, had a 7-day trend of 149% and had a high sale of $455 for a CGC 9.8 (and then right after we ran the Top 10, a 9.8 sold for $745.)
