Diamond Retailers Alert: Something Is Killing The Children #12

Diamond sent out a retailer advisory asking retailers to destroy Something is Killing the Children #12

The retailer advisory, shown below in its entirety, simply states that interior pages were damaged, but don’t go into detail. Retailers will be provided with new copies.

So has anyone noticed the problem with their copies?

  1. An article came out 2 weeks ago that due to a printer error most came with damage/ tear on one of the interior pages. No spec with these, if anything check the interiors of your copy and return it to your shop.

    1. Wasn’t really a spec related post. Just a notice that copies will be returnable. I didn’t see an issue with any of my copies of issue 12

  2. This sucks for anyone that ordered a copy by mail…I’d assume those sellers have to ship out a replacement at the seller’s expense…

    Yeesh…..

And what of all those “limited to x copies” store variants….?

    Double yeesh…..

    1. Um. No. Unless you bring up any issue with your lcs they still will most likely just plunk them on the shelves for sale. Free money for them.

      1. What if your copy came from online…mine came from Westfield, for example.

Looks like it’s just the ones distributed by Diamond….?

Upon first inspection, I saw no issues with my cover A copy. Would like to see what I’m looking for if someone can post it here or in the forums.

        1. I don’t think it goes that extreme. It says in the article Anthony posted “please destroy all the copies you have received of the damaged shipment.” That to me just means destroy the damaged copies and I believe every LCS will receive replacement copies. Of you bought online most shops wouldn’t have a problem sending out a new book. I ordered from unknown comics on foc months ago and received only one out of the 4 copies of a book I purchased, sent an email and a week later I got the other books. All ships have been able to read this notice so they know what is happening, if your book is damaged and ask for a replacement it’s not like they will be surprised

      2. My point was it sounds like they want ALL copies destroyed….which means they expect shops to reach out to people hey sold to….or at least hold copies in the case where a customer complains…

The lack of detail/direction is terrible.

  3. CGC will never look at the interior to grade this modern, so even if there is a tear it will get right past the graders. CHU should do a test and tear pages out of books and or cut pieces out and submit them to CGC and see how many come back 9.8.

    1. Interesting. I thought they went through the pages to count. Not on moderns I guess. I have seen qualified modern books. If someone wants to chip in I would be happy to send a stack of these off and when they come back (as 9.8 and not qualified) sell to recoup cost and donate the rest.
