#11 FINAL CRISIS #7 COVER B (DC, 2009) As noted last week, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER recently posted an article about “Ta-Nehisi Coates to Write New Superman Movie for Warner Bros.” The article notes that “According to sources, the project is being set up as a Black Superman story.” This news circulated to every comic book news source, specially citing Calvin Ellis as the most likely candidate. Calvin’s first cameo appearance is in this issue… and it went NUTS price wise. It sold 24 copies, had a 7-day trend of 201% and had a high sale of $650 for a CGC 9.8.
#12 FINAL CRISIS #7 (DC, 2009) This A cover of the first cameo appearance of Calvin Ellis is still immensely hot. It sold 22 copies, had a 7-day trend of 191% and had a high sale of $680 for a CGC 9.8.
#13 STAR WARS THE HIGH REPUBLIC #3 (MARVEL, 2021) On issue #3, the High Republic still proves itself to be a strong force in the aftermarket. It sold 45 copies, had a 7-day trend of 105% and had a high sale of $11.88 for a raw copy.
#14 BATMAN #106 RICCARDO FEDERICI (1:25) (DC, 2021) Not only is this issue the first cameo appearance of Miracle Molly, but it’s also a gorgeous cover. Those two factors tend to make a powerful combination. It sold 59 copies, had a 7-day trend of 68% and had a high sale of $50 for a raw copy.
#15 INFINITE CRISIS #5 JIM LEE COVER (DC, 2006) As noted last week, Variety announced that “Angel Manuel Soto to Direct ‘Blue Beetle,’ DC Films’ First Latino Superhero Movie”. Due to this, Jaime Reyes’ first appearance as the Blue Beetle in this issue also saw huge leaps in volume and price. It sold 36 copies, had a 7-day trend of 111% and had a high sale of $169.50 for a CGC 9.6.
#16 THE WALKING DEAD #177 (IMAGE, 2018) Michael James Shaw has been cast as Mercer on “The Walking Dead”. This issue features his first appearance. While not casted, this issue also features the first appearance of Sebastian (who (SPOILER) later shoots and kills Rick Grimes). It sold 34 copies, had a 7-day trend of 121% and had a high sale of $10 for a raw copy.
#17 EARTH 2 #19 (DC, 2014) As noted above, “According to sources, the (Superman) project is being set up as a Black Superman story.” While many cited Calvin Ellis as the most likely candidate, others are now offering up another possibility… Val-Zod, one of the last Kryptonians of his universe. The 1st appearance of Val-Zod (not in costume) is in this issue. It sold 22 copies, had a 7-day trend of 156% and had a high sale of $70 for a raw copy.
#18 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 2ND PRINT VARIANT (MARVEL, 2011) While this cover hit higher numbers back in June 2020 (high of $500 for a 9.8), it’s definitely on its way back up there with the insane values the first print is commanding. It sold 28 copies, had a 7-day trend of 122% and had a high sale of $354 for a CGC 9.8.
#19 AVENGERS #187 (MARVEL, 1979) One of the few speculations that turned out to be accurate was the DARKHOLD. The Darkhold will play heavily into the horror theme storylines that the MCU Phase 4 is moving toward. Hence, it’s origin story in this issue has drawn significant interest. It sold 23 copies, had a 7-day trend of 142% and had a high raw sale of $39.99.
#20 SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1 LCSD FOIL (BOOM!, 2020) As you all know by now, this series is the hottest current series on shelves. The first print is $200 to $300+ and $600+ in a 9.8. Most collectors are already priced out of these first issues. However, the LCSD foil is still SUPER affordable at $10 to $15 raw. The print run is unknown… but it’s rumored to be pretty high. However, that doesn’t stop collectors seeking it out as most realize that it’ll go up in price. This week it sold 35 copies, had a 7-day trend of 91% and had a high sale of $255 for a CGC 9.8! That price makes this book VERY interesting. Foils are tough to grade. So we wonder if that’s what commanded top dollar. Or was it a buyer thinking they were getting a lucky deal on a first print? Either way, watch this foil closely. If more 9.8’s can get that high, then this book could be an excellent book to grade.
Those SIKTC foils are so under valued. I see them going the way of Teen Titans 12 foils some day once all the other #1s become out of reach…seems inevitable.
So the Darkhold is introduced in ABC’s Agents if shield and the market balks.

So primetime cable spec is worthless, paid streaming spec gold… LOL.
They’ve said over and over and over and over and over and over and over again that Agents of Shield is not canon with Marvel MCU, I don’t know how many more times they have to say it before people get it… but…
FYI. Foils aren’t tough to grade. They may be easier to grade actually because of the card stock, it shows every defect and scuff and scratch. So they may be a touch book to get in 9.8 but they are not tough to grade. For instance the Gal Gadot WW Variant SDCC Foil isn’t a tough book to grade, but because it’s polybagged and it has manufacturer’s spine creases it makes it tough to get in 9.8. Same with the SDCC Cosmic Ghost Rider J. Scott Campbell SDCC glow in the dark variant. Polybagged and manufacturer’s spine stress’.
