THE SILVER COIN AN INSTANT HIT, RUSHED BACK TO PRINT

The Silver Coin #1 by Eisner Award winning creative team Michael Walsh (Star Wars, Black Hammer/Justice League) and Chip Zdarsky (Stillwater) has sold out instantly upon release at the distributor level and is being rushed back to print in order to keep up with demand. This second printing will feature new cover artwork by Walsh.

This first installment of the ongoing horror anthology series has hit big with fans and described the self-contained story as, “everything you need for a spine-chilling read.”

“When we brewed up the idea for The Silver Coin I had no idea it would connect with comics and horror fans in the way that it has,” said Walsh. “Over the last year I’ve put my heart and soul into creating this comic alongside some of the most talented writers in the industry and to see such a positive reception has me over the moon. Thank you!”

Each issue of Silver Coin will tell a tale of terror in a shared supernatural world interwoven with common characters and overlapping stories. The series begins in 1978 with a failing rock band whose fortune suddenly changes when they find the mysterious Silver Coin. Little do they know that fame comes with a cost, and a curse is always hungry.

Zdarsky added: “I’m beyond thrilled that people are reading our new series, and more importantly, buying it! I mean, this isn’t a library, pal! Though I do wholeheartedly support libraries. Please don’t turn this into a ‘Chip is anti-library’ thing. Just use one of my other quotes, okay?”

Subsequent issues of The Silver Coin will showcase the talents of Kelly Thompson (Sabrina the Teenage Witch), Ed Brisson (Old Man Logan), and Jeff Lemire (Gideon Falls).

The Silver Coin #1, second printing (Diamond Code FEB219272) will be available atcomic book shops on Wednesday, May 5.

  1. I saw about 40 copies of the different issues on the shelf at my LCS yesterday and they are selling for cover price on eBay. Unless this is a slow build up I don’t see the demand yet. I think I will pick up a copy of cover A later today just in case.
