Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 5/19/21

Every week, hundreds of new books hit the stands, each with potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery 5/19/21

Must Buy
Batman Fortnite Zero Point #3 – I kid you not, I already have buyers lined up for my pre-orders on these. People who bought 1 and 2 from me are messaging me about getting them copies. I have been raking it in with this series. Sales of up to $18 already on eBay.

New #1’s
Far Cry Rite Of Passage #1 – video game tie ins for popular series have been doing well lately. One to keep an eye on for sure.

Rangers Of The Divide #1 – New Dark Horse series. Lock, load, and take flight! Following the disappearance of the nations’ peace keepers, an elite Commander stumbles upon a team of bright-eyed cadets in need of leadership. The group prepares to venture out on their first mission into uncharted territories. Are they ready to face what awaits them . . . or will danger find them first? * Debut comic series written and illustrated by comic artist Megan Huang. * Dragons, mythical beasts, and sci-fi technology!

Legends Of The Dark Knight #1 – Classic 90’s Batman series comers back.

Wonder Girl #1 – Series focusing on Yara Flor.

Shang-Chi #1 – Soon to be movie star Shang Chi gets his own series

OBE Out Of Body Experience #1 – New Antarctic Series. In a dystopian near-future, nearly everybody can astral project, or OBE (Out-of-Body Experience), which has caused worldwide decimation. As civilization struggles to combat the addiction to OBEing, a haunted detective must work with a lonely social worker to catch an elusive killer who has learned how to hunt from the astral plane. This fantastical, philosophical, action-packed detective story explores how humanity faces extinction and yet refuses to bow down, while simultaneously evolving to thrive in a new society based between this world and the next.

Notable Reprints
Geiger #1 3rd Ptg – third print using an optical illusion for a gimmick cover, actually cool.

Radiant Black #1 3rd Ptg – Series goes back for a 3rd printing with connecting covers. Pretty cool. The 1:10 variant is doing nicely at $20. You can get the #1 first print 1:10 variant for $5 on TFAW its an $8 book on eBay.

Radiant Black #2 3rd Ptg – The other half of the connecting cover set. The 1:10 is selling for around $16

Star Wars High Republic #1 5th Ptg – 5th printing, black and white cover.

One and Done
Immortal Hulk Time Of Monsters – introduction fo the original Hulk and origin of the Green Door. Hulk fans must have this one

Apocalypse 5000 #1 (One Shot) – legendary indy comic collected and printed for the first time in over 30 years. Worth the grab.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Best Of Splinter – the previous issues in the series are doing pretty well, especially in sets. This could be a good grab and hold.

The Potential Upside
Chaos Breaker #1 – New comic from Vortex Comics, small press, Midtown sold out quickly and I can find nothing on the publisher or where to get these books. None on eBay at the moment. First to list could have a potentially huge upside.
Queen Of Skulls #1 – Same as above, another Vortex Comic release no where to be found.

Small Press Pick of the Week
Red Room #1 – Crazy new Ed Piskor book. Red Room is a cyberpunk, outlaw, splatterpunk masterpiece. Aided by the anonymous dark web and nearly untraceable crypto-currency, there has emerged a subculture of criminals who live-stream and patronize webcam murders for entertainment. Who are the murderers? Who are the victims? How do we stop it? The Variants are doing nicely on this one with the 1:12 selling for $20 plus and the selling for as high as $99 in the past couple of days. Could be hard to find.

Pick of the Week
Nottingham #3 – With issue #1 selling for $85 and issue #2 selling for$33, and, add in there is already a 2nd Print already solicited before the first print hits shelves, and couple with first print copies are selling for $40 in pre-sale this is one to grab.

    1. It’s been a money series. I mentioned this on the forums when news came out about the codes. I smelled cash and ordered big. I am reaping the rewards on this series.

      1. Same. Not that big though. Only 40 of each. But then I canceled 5 and 6. My plan was to sell as a set once they were all out, so people would buy the set and get the armored batman code. But once they started pumping out additional printings, I realized I had to sell them right away. 5 and 6 everyone will have tons of copies

        1. I am still seeing first prints of 1 and 2 on shelves. The initial wave has ended but still it sells to people who don’t have lcs’. I am still selling a copy or two pretty much every day.

  1. Great call on Batman Fortnite 3, one of those titles I wouldn’t have thought would blow up at a glance. The codes are gold though

    1. I got my tfaw #1’s in and have sold 9 of the 13 so far at $20 each. Sold out of #2 and have copies of #3 I just listed. Seriously have probably sold about 50 Fortnite books this month so far
